Get some weight behind it makes the hole pull it out, move on to the next one and as you can see cores are starting to pop out. We've got the cores that have just popped out and we've got plenty of nice deep holes. It is fantastic for increasing the drainage in the lawn, getting fertilizer, air and water. You can sweep them up. Or you can let them dry, it will be broken fragmented with the rotary mower, does a top dressing.

Folks I thought I took pics, however I am not able to locate them right now. Wanted to write a quick review, few quick notes. My folks yard was/is very compacted since they lived there for years, plus my brother having OCD would cut the grass 4 - 6 times a week. Needless to say, years later now in 2020 I am working to fix up the house and sell it. Couldn't grow grass anywhere since 95% of the yard was hard compacted soil/clay, etc. Most of the yard ended up being weeds like clover and such because of the frequent grass cutting, no fertilizer and no upkeep/maintenance other than cutting. I picked up a Sunjoe dethatcher, which was truly a miracle to even know something like that existed, figure I would manually aerate the lawn because it couldn't hurt to get water and nutrients into the soil. SUPER easy to aerate, and keep in mind you might have to move your one side of this tool if you hit a stone or something. I would even go through and step on the foot part and push one side down, then tilt the aerating tool for the other side to go in. Then tubes of soil would pop out of the tubes and just leave those go, they will break down shortly and you will never know they are there. Once in a great while I would need to use a screwdriver in one side of something got lodged in the tube. Would HIGHLY recommend, keeping in mind this is a manual process and I did it over a few days here and there throughout the yard. Takes no time to do, worked great after some rain, but regardless I even did most of the aeration holes mid summer, no rain and had no issues. All told I spent about 7 hrs over 3 days or so, and its done! You don't have to go through back to back holes, mind are roughly less than 1 - 2 ft, sometimes even 3 - 4 ft away from other aerating holes I created. Then I fertilized when it started getting cooler out and the lawn LOOKS incredibly beautiful, the fertilizer has iron in it, which I think is the component that really helped the lawn develop a nice darker, richer green color.

Great Tool for a Healthier Lawn!

recently purchased the Tine Lawn Aerator and have been quite pleased with its performance. After using it for a few weeks, here are my thoughts: Pros: Effective Aeration: The aerator does a great job of penetrating the soil, allowing air, water, and nutrients to reach the grassroots. My lawn already looks healthier and more vibrant. Easy to Use: The handle design and overall weight make it relatively easy to maneuver across the lawn. I found it comfortable to use for extended periods. Durable Build: The tines are sturdy and well-made, showing no signs of bending or wear even after multiple uses. The overall construction feels solid and built to last. Cost-Effective: Compared to hiring a professional service or renting equipment, this aerator is a cost-effective solution for regular lawn maintenance. Cons: Manual Effort Required: While the tool is effective, it does require a fair amount of manual effort, especially for larger lawns. It can be a bit tiring if you have a lot of ground to cover. Great value for money.

So this isn't perfect. You're going to be putting in work. I wouldn't recommend for a large yard AT ALL. The other con is that since this is a physical job (you push it in), it's going to really tough to do at all in dry, rocky, compacted soil. Having said all that, if you wait til it rains a good bit. Ooh boy, this thing works like butter and you'll have your yard done in no time. I can't stress enough how big a difference dry soil makes vs wet soil. It's like night and day. I gave this 5 stars because it works as advertised and is great value for the money.

Easy to use and does the job
Size: Plug Aeration
This manual core aerator is easy to assemble, sturdy, and easy to use for lawn aeration. The holes do not clog. As you punch the next hole, the soil is pushed out of the spike. The tool is a nice size for my 5'5" height, and the included velcro pad protects your knee.

Excellent exceptional effective! Very pleased with this item. I read all the reviews and was concerned as perhaps it would not work as all soils differ. However, worked incredibly well! So delighted with this. Yes, it’s work. But call it exercise. Did 2 huge yards. Infrequently it clogged but vast majority of time it worked flawlessly. Pulled deep deep full cores (see pics). Much better than HD rented core aeraor which did not pull cores as it was supposed to - clogged. Badically it just poked holes so compacted soil. Also, this seller is incredibly responsive as i emailed a concern. Great purchase. HD retal was $70 plus truck $80, so if this item worked few times, you more than profited.

I have never thought about aerating my yard by hand before, but I guess if you’re only targeting certain areas; doing it manually would be more cost affective than renting the big machines. This in particular I purchased because it looked sturdy. I thought about purchasing the kind with the side discharge but thought it was a weakness in the tool to have half of it removed. So I landed into this item. Assembly was pretty easy. Using it on the other hand was tricky. Your dirt has to be somewhat moist to easily puncture into the dirt and to have the dirt discharge from the holes. Otherwise, the dirt will get stuck and you’ll be frustrated using this item. Have a tool with you to clean it out when using this item. One way or another the dirt will get stuck.

Better Than Any Tow Behind To Me
Size: Plug Aeration
This manual aerator works beautifully and removes a much larger and longer plug that any tow behind core aerator I have ever used. Even with heavy clay soil it worked without clogging with soil. The only issues encountered was if I happened to hit a root cutting it and plugging one side or found a rock the perfect size to wedge in one of the cores. However, there were no issues in clearing those with a flathead screwdriver when needed. If I could make but on improvement it would be to cap the bottom of the handle so no soil can enter when you end up plunging in to 100% depth.
