Description

TIPS & TRICKS - Before you begin work, prepare the area by removing stones, rocks, root outcroppings, or any item that may cause damage to the cultivator tines. - The best soil conditions will be a day or two after rain, when the ground is moist but not wet. Wet soil cannot be tilled properly and will dry in clumps. It is best to be patient and work the soil when it is moist. - If you have new plantings in the ground or are working in tight and confined areas, you can remove blade wheels as needed for better access and efficiency. - Exercise restraint when using any rotary cultivator. Aggressive or excessive tilling can have detrimental effects on soil structure and the beneficial organisms within it.

As many pointed out, the head is plastic. This calls for fatigue fracture in the near future. But so far, it is doing its job. I have a lawn to maintain, and this product is useful in softening the soil where I want to seed anew. The product came without one of the three fastening bolts, but I was compensated by Amazon with some gift credits. Easy to assemble and also easy to take apart. Easy to remove the spikes of my choice. I can take out the middle, or either side, or the middle and either side. I must work from a wheel chair and these steps are easy. Do not buy this in order to remove tall weeds or thick grass. If your ground is summer-hard, water it well and let it rest overnight. It also performs well in water or mud if needed. I can't think of any deficiencies but I do advise reading the description several times to see if your expectations are too high. This is not meant to clear an acre of ground in one hour. This is a little bit heavier than I remember, but more effective. However, I am 80 years old now and a lot weaker than what I once was.. This works amazing for ground that has been tilled and you just want to mix it. I do not recommend using for hard ground. It makes it easy to pull up grass and other weeds growing in the soft dirt around garden plants. I just got it so I canโ€™t speak on how long the piece of equipment will last. I was looking forward to using this tool to prepare seed beds in my garden, but was disappointed in its construction and performance. It has a stout metal handle, but the head is plastic and the tines look like they are pot-metal. I doubt very seriously that it would hold up to extended use. Also, it did not work well in anything but soft already broken up soil. It did not penetrate very deeply and the tines got clogged with organic material to the degree that I had to frequently stop and clean them out. To judge it fairly, I tried it in several areas of my garden - and then used a regular four-tine cultivator in the same areas - and the four-tined cultivator worked better. The garden weasel may work in certain applications, but my advice is to save your money. Fortunately, Amazon made returning it easy. ... show more
