We move a lot with the Military. So, surely and steadily, I have been replacing all our yard tools with tools that are more easily stored and take up less space. As Fall approaches, I was looking for a new rake to replace our existig one, and I came across this nice one which seemed perfect. So, I ordered one, and it came very quickly indeed. Next day in-fact! Most tools that break-down into sectios, use a lot of lightweight materials that are basically, just not upto the job that they need to do. The worst part for any of these is the gauge of the metal that they choose for the tubular handles. It is normally so thin, that often on the first use, they bend and snap. So, yes I am very wary and at the same time, now know what to look for in these tpye of yard tools. This rake does indeed break down into a small box. So, thats a big plus. The rake hears is made from HEAVY DUTY stee with good strong welds and is as good as ANY rake that I have used previously. So that is a winner. Then we come to the handle. The sections use thn tubular sections. Though upon close examination, the gauge of the metal on this rake handle is certainly a little thicker than most choose to use, and I feel sure, will do a much better job than the majority of others that I have looked at. So, if you only occasionally need a rake for clearing up the leaves a few times a year, then this should work well for you. I would NOT recommend this for a proffesional landscaper or, if you intend to use the rake for long-term, heavy use. It really is not designed for this purpose. Overall, this yard-rake is exactly as described and shown. I certainly recommend this item!

I ordered this bow rake for cleaning out our creek - we have a creek that runs through our property, and while it sounds great, this thing fills up with some kind of creek weed that has to be cleaned out every 3-4 weeks during the warmer months. We had a cheap bow rake from the local hardware store that finally broke, so the double sided rake head on this rake was an attractive feature as I was looking for a replacement. I ordered the 63" version, and on the first use I noticed an improvement over the old rake. This bow rake comes in multiple pieces, and the metal sections screw into plastic connectors. I am a little worried about the longevity of the plastic pieces, but since we only use it 10-12 times a year hopefully it holds up. My hands did periodically rub against the connectors but with gloves on it didn't bother me too much. I used the long tines on the bow rake to pull the weeds out of the creek, then the short tined side to scrape the bottom of the creek to loosen the roots from the creek bed with the hope that doing so would keep it from growing back so fast. The long tines didn't work as well for dredging the bottom, but the shorter, wider tines were great for that. I can't say how this bow rake works for other uses, but for my use it was great (see the before/after pictures for an idea of just how backed up our creek gets from the weeds). At $20 (after the extra coupon savings at the time of this review) this is a good tool to have in the shed.

I had expected this to be a little flimsy given that the handle comes in several pieces, but it's surprisingly solid!! The metal is lightweight but doesn't have any give, so I think this is going to make a lasting impression on my yardwork duties. Very long reach, which I love.

Flat tines and multiple pieces on a handle to not make me think "Sturdy." But, after putting this together, I'm impressed. This is great. It is very sturdy and is put together nice and tight so there isn't the movement you would expect with handle pieces put together one inside another. The gauge of metal is nice and thick. It is a nice hammered metal, so it looks pretty cool as well. I'm so happy with how easy it is to hold and to use. This is great!
