  • Large hand held garden trowel
Style: Trowel
I like that this has a very large trowel so you can displace enough dirt without any real effort. I will admit it has some weight to it but, if you don’t mind when you are digging a hole for planting your vegetable plants it makes for a quick hole. It is also very useful for when you’re popping out weeds, just push down by the weed and pop the plant out. This is not a toy so you will have to put a little effort into working the soil and it will take some abuse. I can’t see how the trowel will separate from the handle unless you literally abuse it. I see where the trowel and handle are tig welded. I will admit that you can get a bad weld but, it’s few and far between. I know there are going to be people who are going to criticize me but this is my opinion and I like this trowel. And I am in my early 60s and not afraid of a little bit of hard work. ... show more

  • Quality Garden Trowel
Style: Trowel
Purchased this for my wife to use in the garden & she loves it! Way better than any other trowel that she had used in the past! Highly recommended!

  • Well made and long
Style: Dandelion Weeder
This puller looks like it will last. The color also makes it easy to find.

  • Not Ergonomic to Me
Style: Trowel
The grip is shaped to fit your hand, but the green material, on the lower part of the handle, is just very hard plastic. I bought this trowel, the hand rake with flexible tines, and a second hand rake with stiff tines, like a bow rake, and plan to return them all because I need tools with some kind of foam or gel-like handles that are more friendly to older hands. The top material (black) is different. I might describe it as 'non-slip', but doesn't contribute anything, to me, to making these tools more ergonomic. ... show more

  • This review is for a transplanter trowel. The trowel is very good.
Style: Transplanter
I like to work in the garden. Often I transplant things from the nursery or things I have grown from seed. I saw this trowel and asked Amazon to review it. This transplanter trowel is very good. I ready don't care for the color but that will make no difference in the garden. In fact, I might find it faster among my tools. The handle is very firm; it is made out of hard plastic. It fits my hand well but it might be a little big for a person with small hands. I like that it has a depth gauge on the front. I wish it had one on the back. It is helpful when you are digging holes for your transplants. The overall build of this trowel is very good. It is solid and heavy. The blade is thick. Comparing it to another transplanter trowel I have used for years it is slightly smaller but still good. See photo. The weld holding the shaft of the handle onto the blade is good and solid. The blade and the shaft are both made of stainless steel. I have complete confidence in it. The trowel will not bend even when you apply a lot of pressure. It's a great little trowel for transplanting and anything else you might need a trowel for in your garden. While I love Amazon and its reviews, sometimes in the review of the item you are looking at they review several different items. The reviews on this website are an example of that practice. If you look closely the reviews for this item actually include 5 different items; a fork, a dandelion weeder, a scoop, a trowel, and a transplanter. I was a little confused at first because I thought the trowel and transplanter were the same. They are not. Out of 69 reviews this morning, only 11 related to the transplanters. It can become very confusing. In fact, a mediocre item can be hidden among 3-4 great things. There is a workaround for this. You go to one of the reviews of the item you want, and you will see on the left-hand side of the review just under the stars in fine print it says "style." Next to that, you will see the item you want. Click on your item and it will bring up the individual reviews on only your item. However, even when you go to those limited numbers the overall reviews in the star box still reflect all the items. ... show more

  • if this matches your use case, it's an excellent scoop and you should buy it
Style: Scoop
You have a lot of hand shovels, or scoops, to choose from. Let's see how well this scoop will work for you by having a look at my experience. Pros: 1) The product description says this shovel has a stainless steel scoop. In all honesty, I didn't think this was true. Even if it was true, I anticipated they used the cheap kind of stainless steel that would be attracted to a magnet - the kind that would rust. I WAS WRONG! To my surprise, the scoop of this shovel is not attracted to a magnet at all. The scoop is made of high quality stainless steel. I am truly surprised - and delighted! I think this is unusual and points to long use without rust on the scoop. 2) I've had hand shovels in the past with such thick scoops that I couldn't press them into the soil. Stainless steel is strong, even when thin, and this hand shovel's scoop is both strong AND thin. Have a look at the photo I attached. That's a US dime in the shovel's scoop. The scoop is about half the thickness of a dime. I found the scoop easy to press into amended soil, and I think this is important. Indifferent: 3) The golden, "titanium" coating seems unnecessary to me. The great quality stainless steel of the scoop should take care of itself, and the titanium will probably come off with use, anyway. More than the scoop is coated, though. The scoop connects to the plastic handle through a rod and its attachment, which are attracted to a magnet and are welded onto the back of the scoop. Maybe the coating will help keep those from rusting, but I think this is of minor value. You don't insert the rod into the soil, and it should dry pretty fast when washed, anyway, so I'm indifferent about this feature. Cons: 4) How will you use this shovel? Will you be scooping sand? Fertilizer? Compost? Peat? Planting soil? Soil amendments? Pea gravel? If any of these is your application, stop reading and order this shovel. This shovel holds a very generous volume and will work well for you. BUT, if you're trying to dig into hard clay soil, or through tough clods of dirt, you won't like this shovel. For clay soil a shovel's edge needs to be thin AND the shovel needs to be narrower so the clay doesn't encounter a large area to push back against. Being a generously sized shovel, it was difficult for me to push it deeply into my unworked clay soil. If you will be working with hard soils, look for another shovel. 5) I found the distance from the handle to the end of the shovel to feel a little too long. I like that this hand shovel had such a large capacity, but when fully loaded I found it a little unwieldy. Maybe that's just me, and, of course, I don't have to fully load it, so this is a minor quibble. So is this shovel for you? If it is, get it and I hope it lasts a long time for you. One last note: you are reading a Vine review, which means this product was sent to me without my having to pay for it. I never believed Vine reviews, I felt people would say anything to get free stuff. The Vine program, at least for me, is a little different: I only get what I go out of my way to ask for, and everything I get is reported as income to me, so I'll have to pay income taxes at what will probably be reported as list price. I may actually lose on the deal. But it's about to be April, it's time to go back into the garden, I wanted this product, it's something I use, I never saw a shovel with a stainless steel scoop before while I have a couple of rusted hand shovels from past years, I didn't know it existed before I saw it available for review, and, hopefully, my experience has been a help to you. ... show more
