I wouldn't trust 500lbs, let alone 2000lbs that this thing is rated for. The metal is so flimsy you have to take extra care when assembling to not bend it. Really surprised me how flimsy this is considering the reviews. Once assembled its decently sturdy, but as I said, you really have to take extra care assembling it. I wouldn't trust it t9 hold anything heavy like automotive parts, but for everyday items like gardening chemicals, spray cans, etc it sbould be fine.

This is a very light weight unit. I would not trust it for more than 50-60 pounds per shelf. The metal is very thin. The supports under each shelf have a tab that you bend with your fingers to make it fit into the slot. As long as you understand the limits, this shelf is fine for a basement storage shelf, just don't expect to put 100's of pounds of gear on it as advertised. It was easy to assemble. Note that the tabs used to connect the upper and lower half are attached INSIDE the supports (this confused me at first)

It is not 18" wide it is 17" wide. I ordered this to hold reptile enclosures and its not wide enough to fit them so its pointless for me now. It is also extremely flimsy, the boards are thin and the metal beams are so thin i can bend them by hand (and I am not a very strong person). I would not trust anything more than a few pounds on these shelves. Definitely no animals that could be injured.

I agree 100%. Assembly was an absolute nightmare. My hands are exhausted and it took over 2 hours to assemble. Whoever invented it should be forced to put it together. Not on single piece went together with any ease. Even placing the boards was difficult! If I even move I'm leaving it here. No way will I disassemble and reassemble it again.

Assembly was a pain and I damaged the product with very little effort. the frame dents easily from light strikes with a rubber mallet which is pretty much required. the locking mechanism for the shelves is terrible, it uses a slot and tab method that is again incredibly easy to bend and at times I had to pry the slots open to make the tabs fit at all. It feels sturdy enough for my use case which is in total about 300-350 pounds of reptile cages total. I would not trust it with the rated 2000. get anything else.

It is kind of flimsy but will work. Installation was OK. Needed a rubber mallet which I had already. Probably would not buy again and look for something with a sturdier design and materials. But again, this shelf is OK for light to medium loads.
