  • Great Starter Phone for Kids
Size: 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm
This is a great first phone for a child who only needs texting and calling ability. I love that the phone has safety features that alert parents if there is questionable content shared. The hardware is made by Samsung so it is of great quality. Would recommend this phone to any parent who wants to ensure their child has a way to communicate without the distractions of the internet or social media. ... show more

  • Safety
Size: 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm
Easy set up and easy overview of the phone’s account. It’s a great choice for a smartphone with limited access to keep your loved one safe

  • Avoid Gabb service at all costs, there are far better free options out there!
Size: 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm
Waste of time, even bigger waste of money. Where do I start? I have an overstimulated 18yr old finishing high school. I wanted a simple phone to be able to monitor her location when she goes out if the need arose, as well as communications for when we needed to discuss something while away from each other. Assumed Gabb would do well after reading some of the platform points. I've primarily used Family Link in the past for Android devices which after giving this a go for just 2 months, I would not recommend anything else. Stay with Family Link, for these reasons: 1) Apps, if you want any control over what apps are installed (your decisions) dont use Gabb... -Apps that ARE available are very much restricted to a few lite almost religious apps. No real options for you to request better apps either. They pretty much decline any apps that may in some way compete as well, such as Life360. 2) Time controls.... these are non-existent. This is basic... the request for this has been in for over a year now... no implementation at all. 3) The Management MyGabb app... don't get me started. Alone today... was trying to see where my daughter was (she does catering thru her school culinary class) the location hasn't updated in over 20 days (which the phone user CANNOT TURN OFF?) which defeats the whole point. Not to mention the app forces a re-login when you try to click around. 80% of the time, the basic map portion isn't even loaded so it really becomes pointless, as you cannot even manage most functionality (as limiting as this already is) from the app, forcing you to go to a browser anyway. These are but the tips of the iceberg for me. The other gotcha, which was known before, but thankful I only put one of my kids phones on a contract. There is of course a penalty for terminating the contract, which I will gladly pay to be done with these people. Anyone reading this review this far, do yourself a favor. Get a phone on Amazon, a similar Samsung A15 5G is less expensive by itself here. Get a SIM and service from US Mobile (Still VZW MVNO services) This with Unlimited saves me nearly $30 a month, and I'll have a phone I can manage from Google Family Link and can actually grow with my kid. If you want the Text message managing capability find a specific app for it, it will still be cheaper and better functionality in the long run! I bought two phones, one Gabb 4 for a 10 yr old in Elementary, and a Gabb 4 Pro for an 18 yr old finishing senior year. My only goal was to minimize app/web usage (not block it completely) but allow them some grace when they showed positive behaviors using the devices, but easy management when they dont. I've been using Family Link with my 14yr Old son for over 3 yrs now. It does everything I need, I assumed Gabb would be better, it doesn't even compare to free software. I've only been a customer of Gabb since maybe Thanksgiving 25'. I am cancelling here on January 24th 2026. ABYSMAL service. No real features. Avoid at all costs. ... show more

  • (6mo review update) Great device, just know what you're getting first
Size: 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4 mm
TL;DR Great first device for “tech in steps.” For users with additional device control needs especially. May not suit some users, but if you're in the market, give Gabb a look and/or try! Full review: Decent service, decent device. No other company offers such robust, granular parental control. Hardware: Made by Samsung (A15 or 16, can't remember) Headphone Jack (yes!) Decent 13MP front and 50MP rear cameras 5000mAh battery that lasts FOREVER (at least mine did) MicroSD slot Side button finger print sensor (which isn't as great if you're used to the on-screen one as I was, and often I forgot was there, but still a welcome addition nevertheless) Premium feel Premium design Software: Android-based but heavily Gabb-altered (but not in a bad way, see next points) No Internet browser Extra apps (currently only offered on 4 Pro Advanced plan; must be approved to download to the device or show up in the Play Store) Contact-management defaults to user-managed and filters unknown contact messages/calls to requests tab Optional Parent-Approved contact mode blocks ALL contacts except parent approved Location tracking capabilities Factory Reset disabled to protect kids’ devices Plans: Starter: 25-30 pre-tax: NO picture/group msg (MMS), cloud storage for pictures/contacts, no other frills Standard: 30-35 pre-tax; adds MMS, Gabb Music Lite (explicit free radio-style music), more cloud storage Advanced: 35-50? pre-tax; switches to Gabb Music Plus (more typical customizable music player with same artist/song access), 3-10GB data, 3rd party app suppory, and additional cloud storage Available apps subject to change, but all reviewed/approved by Gabb. Only parent-permitted apps available on the device If your desired app is unavailable, submit as many requests as you like from the account Points to consider: Objectively overpriced as of Mar 2025 (less of the typical phone features, and often higher monthly than adding a line to an existing family plan) Not without quirks (examples: verification codes come through as requests, or not at all with Parent-Approved contacts mode; links don't work because there's no browser support; and many apps don't allow login because they require browser/Google account access) Sometimes lags when you are pushing the RAM to it's limits, but that's to be expected and normal Overall, I recommend the watch for younger kids, and the 4 Pro for everyone else (since it's the only one that can do 3rd party apps currently). Just be prepared that your kids are GOING to lose their watches from time to time. Mine did lol. More on why I don't recommend the 4 on its own review. Full Disclaimer: *former* customer of almost 1.5 years from Oct 2023 to Mar 2025 and *former* employee for 6 months during that time. I got this phone as a way to disconnect more from my devices and connect more with my kids. I was using it as my daily driver and yes, I did port over my number, which was surprisingly seamless. Ultimately, since I had some deal breakers (the main one being text authentication codes) I ended up porting out and this was seamless also. ... show more
