The box you receive is very nice laid out with a nice reusable packing for a CNC positioning square with 2 pcs side clamps, a small bag of hardware, and two Allen wrenches. The CNC square is a nice copper orange color with clear ruler markings in black in both inch and metric. On one side of the L-bracket are marking for 5 inches and 52mm on the metric side. This CNC positioning bracket is use for setting things up for repeatable operations. The piece of stock you are working on fits against the L-bracket and is held in position by the two adjustable clamps. This allows for precise positioning and quick setup. The L-bracket and the clamps are made with a premium aluminum alloy that will give rigidity, corrosion resistance and durability. Uses for this setup would be for CNC carving, cutting and milling. The L-bracket and clamps are held in place with T-slots technology. Setup is pretty simple as well. For accuracy you will want to set-up the L-bracket and make sure you align it properly with the table you are using and the t-slot with M6 cap screws. Next you want to add the workpiece close to the L-bracket square and clamp the edges with the two side clamps. Once the side clamps have been secured to the table you can then adjust the head of the side clamp to apply pressure by adjusting the M4 screws in the adjustable head to apply a downward pressure on the workpiece. Once everything is aligned and secured you can then begin running your CNC processes. This is a very nice simple setup and can even be used with a wood deck for milling and routing operations. The manufacturing quality of these brackets is quite nice and easy to read. If you do any repetitive CNC operations then you will want to have one of these simple brackets in your shop. Not real sure how to judge the value of this tool except to point out that if you are making many of the same parts, you gain valuable time by having an easy and precise setup each time. ***** Five stars - Exceeded my expectations. THE KIT CONTENTS: The box includes an L-shaped 90-degree reference/corner piece, two toe clamp assemblies, three bolt lengths (0.71 in, 0.86 in, and 1.0 in), T-slot nuts for extrusion beds, washers, and two ball-end hex keys in two different sizes. Everything is organized in a foam-lined box and the orange anodized aluminum finish is clean throughout. Nice! THE DESIGN CONCEPT: Side clamping is the right approach for CNC hold-downs — material is secured from the edge rather than the top, keeping the entire workpiece surface accessible to the spindle. The 90-degree reference piece sits at 0.61 in height, which clears standard 3/4 in stock. The toe clamps range from 0.75 in to 0.80 in height depending on extension position, which is slightly taller than I would prefer for some operations. THE GOOD: 1) Tooth pattern on the toe face — genuinely helps grip and prevents workpiece creep. 2) T-slot nuts included for aluminum extrusion beds. 3) Ball-end hex keys allow fastener engagement at an angle, which matters in confined setups. 4) Significantly lower profile than star-knob style hold-downs, reducing collision risk with the gantry. THE TWO-WRENCH PROBLEM: You need both hex key sizes to operate a single clamp — the 6mm to mount and adjust the corner piece and table-mount bolts, and the 4mm for the clamping engagement bolt. That is a two-tool operation every time you set up. THE CRITICAL ISSUE: The clamping engagement bolt — the one you torque to apply lateral holding force against your workpiece — is a 4mm hex head threading into tapped aluminum with approximately 8mm of thread engagement. That is insufficient to handle the torque required to actually hold material against machining forces. I am deliberately under-tightening these because I am confident the aluminum threads will strip before the clamp reaches adequate holding force. The rest of the design is solid. This one point needs to be re-engineered with either a steel insert or significantly deeper thread engagement. BOTTOM LINE: A well-machined, low-profile hold-down system that would earn five stars with one fix: replace the 4mm aluminum-threaded clamping bolt with a steel insert or a deeper thread path.   • Great low-profile clamps for unobstructed CNC work!

I picked up this orange side clamp for my CNC router table, and it has honestly made a massive difference in my workflow. What I Like: True Low-Profile Design: Because these clamp the material tightly from the side edges rather than pressing down from the top, the entire surface of my workpiece stays completely clear. I don't have to constantly map out complex toolpaths just to avoid hitting my hold-down clamps anymore. Rock-Solid Material: It’s machined out of solid aluminum alloy, so it feels incredibly rigid and durable. There is absolutely no flex or lifting when I lock it down, which gives me a lot of confidence during heavy milling and engraving passes. I have several CNC machines, and I tried this clamp with all of them. It's apparently made only for the inexpensive Asian-made CNC machines like the 3018. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice if they mentioned that in the description. It's nice for carving small flat stock. It's not particularly robust, as the clamps only provide side force, but the 3018 is generally limited to light cuts, so it should be fine for that applications. Setup was not easy. It comes with a bunch of M6 bolts of various lengths, and I found no instruction manual to tell you what goes where, but it becomes obvious once you start bolting the components down to the work table. ... show more

This would be particularly easy to set up with a CNC router that had a T slot table, but it will work fine with most any CNC router. You just may have to source your own hardware for fastening it to the table. Nice low profile clamping set up will make it easy to fasten flat parts to the table for routing, and make it easy to flip double-sided parts and reclamp without having to worry about resetting position for your part. The aluminum square corner guide is marked with inches on one side and centimeters on the other. The little bolt down aluminum clamps appear to be very serviceable and plenty sturdy. All the aluminum parts are nicely manufactured, and anodized. All the hardware appears to be stainless steel. I plan to set up my CNC router later this summer so this will be handy when I get things ready to go. ... show more

This square positioning jig and low-profile clamp set is highly disappointing. Due to a combination of machine compatibility bottlenecks and fundamental design flaws in the clamping mechanics, this set fails to provide a secure hold and is highly impractical for standard CNC router setups. Severe CNC Compatibility Issues (Shapeoko Pro) If you own a CNC router with a raised spoil board design, such as the Shapeoko Pro, this kit will introduce several immediate integration headaches: Inadequate Bolt Length: On the Shapeoko Pro, the MDF spoil board sits proud of the aluminum T-track rails by approximately 1/4 inch to protect the extruded rails from accidental cuts. The longest bolts included in this kit are only 3/4 inch. Because of the spoil board's height, I had to back the bolt out to the very last thread just to get the T-nut to catch inside the rail. This leaves only 1 to 2 threads of engagement when tightened, risking stripped threads or a loose jig during a job. T-Slot Recess Drop-Down: The width of this square jig aligns perfectly with the recessed slot between the spoil board segments. When positioned vertically, the jig drops down 1/4 inch into this recess, making it completely non-functional. The only workaround is to clamp the horizontal edge alone, which defeats the purpose of a dual-axis squaring jig. Directional Clamping Limitations: Because of the recessed spoil board edges, I can only utilize these clamps for left-to-right setups on my table. Attempting to clamp top-to-bottom forces the low-profile clamp bodies to fall into the spoil board recesses, rendering them completely useless. Core Design Flaws: Slipping and Cosmetic Damage Even if you manage to bypass the compatibility issues, the physical clamping hardware suffers from serious mechanical limits: 1. Ineffective Clamping Force The low-profile clamps are tightened down using a very small, threaded socket head cap screw that threads directly into soft aluminum. The Slip Test: I clamped a test piece of stock as tightly as I safely could without risking stripping the aluminum threads. Despite using a hex wrench to apply maximum torque, I was easily able to pull the workpiece straight out of the clamp with my fingers. Thread Safety Concern: To keep a workpiece stationary against the lateral forces of a router spindle, you would have to tighten these cap screws far past their safe threshold , which will inevitably strip the soft aluminum threads in the clamp body. The other option is to make very shallow cuts and slow your process down. 2. Fragile Anodized Finish The bright anodized finish on both the jig and the clamps scratches and mars the very first time you tighten the cap screws down to the table. While this is purely an aesthetic issue, it is highly disappointing to see a brand-new tool's finish get instantly ruined during initial setup. Final Verdict While this squaring jig looks attractive out of the box, its execution is deeply flawed. It is incompatible with proud spoil board systems, and the weak aluminum threads prevent the low-profile clamps from achieving the holding pressure required for safe CNC operations.
