  • Beware, incomplete
Can anyone finish a full story anymore? It seems more and more books are incomplete, cliffhangers and series. It's really getting old. I was specifically looking for a complete story with resolution, no cliffhangers, and no series required to complete one couple's story. I think a heads up to your readers is just common courtesy, and not mentioning it is just dirty. I agree with another reviewer that this story was not as polished as some if this author's other work, but it was an interesting spin on the shifter storyline and I was enjoying it up to the abrupt end with no warning, no resolution of anything and not even a promise that there will be one to follow. Bad form Ms. Todd. ... show more

  • Where is the rest of the story?
I read this author all the time. I always like the books. This book is not as polished as the usual work and it ends without closure. Where is the rest of the story? If I'd known it was incomplete, I would not have purchased it.

  • Off the Cliff
I was really into this story - great dragon tale with some new material. Not a bunch of sex - which I do not mind - but this story had drama and action. Cora was rounding out to be an interesting character and I really expected to see more of her growth - in this book. And then the story just ended. The story did not reach a reasonable end with the option of a new thread coming in the next book. Just the end. As much as I would like to see what happens I will not buy the next book due to fear the same thing will happen and maybe happen again. This part of the story was good but it is not a book. ... show more

  • The violence borders on sadistic.
There should be a symbol next to books that leave the ending just hanging out there - unfinished. I gave this 1 star bc the story was pretty good (I did not like the uber violence). If there is a part 2, I won't be buying it.

  • It didn't pull together for me
It wasn't a bad book, really. I read the sample and ended up liking it enough to buy it. That was probably a mistake. One of the only books I've bought for a long time, and with the sample and reviews I had decently high expectations. I think I liked the sample so much because really there was nothing to dislike about it. What I actually ended up disliking about the book was the conversation/interaction between the two main characters. It made me not really like the book because that's about 85% of it. It has some interesting aspects and some potential, but it didn't really pull together for me, especially with me disliking how the two main characters interacted. Also, while some things did happen in this book, nothing big did. As in, the two didn't get anywhere close to their goal. It's going to start getting into that in the next book. This was a lead up 100%. That generally doesn't bother me if I think the first one was good enough, but in this case I don't think it was. So, was it worth the $5.99 or even more? In my opinion, no, but I'm very cheap and I'm very picky about my books. ... show more

  • Wow!
This is my first book I’ve read by this author but I must say I’m really impressed. The plot moves quickly even though weeks are covered in a single chapter. The characters are believable and you quickly get to know them. I love the concept of the fuse and the two distinct personalities of Flare. I like the chemistry that’s building between Flare and Cora. I was not a fan of the torture in the dungeon but thankfully there was no rape. I’m excited to read more from both this author and of this world. I’m excited to meet the elves and to meet back up with Bridge. So many possibilities. ... show more

Thank you for getting me out of my book slump! I have not finished an entire book in almost two months. I’ve started so many popular books and been left wanting... I was getting so frustrated because I love to read and I just felt like all of the books I have been trying to read were lack luster. Well, I picked up this book on KU to check it out at 5pm and finished at 2:30am because I could not put it down! I need book 2 now! Please tell me there’s a second book coming!!! There is so much action in this book and even though it’s a romance it was not the entire premise. I need the adventure to keep me interested and this book did just that. ... show more

  • Great premise - the writing is not
I loved the idea, and tried to get through the first chapter but I kept on cringing. The writing is amateurish; seems to be written by a high school student, and not a very good one.
