When the Harry Potter Books were being written I was relatively young. I was old enough that I could have read the first four or five books while in elementary school. But I was lazy and opted to instead watch the movies as they came out. I usually read a book (that I found interesting) if there was no movie adaptation. However I recently got a wild hair up my *** to buy the first book of the series and properly read the HP series. And of course this book is wonderful. I was already a Potter fan from the movies (even if the last movie I watched was OotP) but I can tell that while the first movie was enjoyable (at least from what I remember) it did not do this book justice. There are a number of interesting details and little things that were lost from the book that you don't get in the film. Case in point the majority of the events of chapter one being cut out. So in conclusion this book is a wonderful read. I just got it this afternoon and am loving it. (Currently about a third of the way through.) JK Rowling is an amazing author and I am glad her series is as successful as it is. As someone who inspires to be a writer I'd be happy to experience even a fraction of her success. Also final note, I am really happy I got this Slytherin edition. I love the color of the book and the little extra bits are nice. I only wish I could have gotten a hardback, but did not want to buy from third party sellers. Oh well I very much do like the look of this book. Just have to be gentle with it, since paperbacks are delicate.

My wife is a Harry Potter nerd, like a BIG one. She took the tests and is a Slytherin so when I saw this I bought it for her and she loved it. I don't think she ever actually read it as she a lot of other versions to read, but this one got a permanent spot in the curio cabinet. So, I was a hero because I bought it, I would recommend it for Harry Potter people who are Slytherins.

I ordered this for my son who is 9 years old and has just gotten into the world of Harry Potter, a visit to universal studios got his interest going so we watched all the movies and that has made him interested in the books. He took his house quiz and was sorted into Slitherin so I felt getting his first book was only fitting to be his house colors. We received the book on time (I love prime) and he was so happy it came in perfect condition and everything is exceptional. He can't wait to start reading it!

I have the hardback Hufflepuff edition and bought this for a friend. For anyone purchasing, know this is the Paperback version, but still just as awesome. The pages are still an offwhite color, just the edges are green so if you were worried about readability, you'll be fine. This is GREAT for a Slytherin fan or any HP Collector.

This book is so beautiful, the black is this beautiful matte, but the green is shiny so the contrast in them is gorgeous, the bonus Slytherin drawings in the back are beautiful and the quizzes are fun to do, loved this and the Harry Potter series

There were a couple "crinkles" or "dents" as many people reviewed but nothing that ruined the general prospect of the book. It's an absolutely beautiful version what with the chapter titles, old feel to the pages, and the background information on your house of choice. Don't be surprised the the edges of the pages are stuck together a bit from the green coloring on the edges as they are easy and strangely gratifying to pull apart as your turn the pages. But in general, it's common for colored edges to stick a bit. Definitely recommend!
