Just turn the tube to connect the panels to form a storage shelf. The materials comply with particle board for furniture processed from parts of rubber trees. There is no foul smell of chemicals, durable and it is the most stable medium density composite wood used to make RTA furniture. Care instructions: wipe clean with clean damped cloth. I love these. They're very durably, easy to assemble, and come with straightforward directions. The plastic materials look less shabby than you might think--they blend in well, and from a distance look more like metal than plastic. I've bought a few over the years, and all have lasted. The media could not be loaded. It was easy to assemble and pretty sturdy. My only complaint was it had a couple of chips on corners of shelves but for the price I can overlook it. I just faced that part towards the wall. I’ll probably get one more.

We were very pleased with this purchase. I bought it for my 13-year-old son so he could put his action figures and what not on display in his room. It was perfect for this and had plenty of room. He was even able to put it together all by himself. You can shake it if you attempt to but overall for what were using it for it’s plenty sturdy enough and looks great.     • The columns look a bit cheap, but shelf overall works

Bought this as it is cheap enough and I do need shelves, and it fits within the space I needed. The shelf is pretty thin particleboard with a nice edge coating/trim. Seems sturdy enough. Would not put heavy weight on it though. The columns just screw to the next bit and the screws don't always match perfectly and require a bit of force to turn. But I guess you wouldn't really want to undo one. took a bit of twisting until they wouldn't turn anymore, then you have to feel if you really twisted until the very end as it's possible to be a little short of the final position. Finally had it all assembled. From a distance they look okay, but closer up the plastic columns have this "dull gray" look, really tacky. Would probably prefer plain black columns. The columns also took on a bit of classical Greek look with some bulges and rings which seems a bit out of place. All in all, for a light-duty shelf it's not a bad price, as long as you don't look too closely. ... show more

Very easy to assemble and the size was perfect for what I needed but that’s the only good thing about it. One shelf was broken in half and a corner on two of the other shelves were crushed. Once assembled (minus the broken shelf) it was very wobbly and I felt nervous about setting anything on them for fear that the plastic legs would collapse. I do not recommend at all! ... show more
