Furinno (99557LC/BK) Turn-N-Tube 4-Tier Multipurpose Shelf Display Rack - Light Cherry/Black and my thoughts! "Engineered Wood" is about as nifty as the term "reclaimed wood". Neither is correct, really, and the composite wood in these shelves falls under the category of "reclaimed wood". Oh, repurposed wood, also. I think engineered sounds abusive and reclaimed always makes me wonder what court battle it was in that the original owner lost the wood and then had to get it back in such a serious fashion. It's particle board or composite. And it is good! It is a really sturdy shelf and actually much easier to assemble than the typical havy=duty resin or plastic shelves which can crack when you mallet them or hurt your hands popping the poles in. This is so ridiculously easy it is amazing! And it says it takes 3 minutes to assemble (I think) and it took me less! That is with hands that have polyneuropathy and carpal tunnel in both. I got this for my senior cousin as a birthday present -- no, not cheap, cash-deprived (see what I did there?) -- for her carved ironwood pieces that she had all lumped together so close it looked like a hairless, shiny baby buffalo on a board in the dining room, which is also a thrift store with a little antique corner. Well, she is a collector. I assembled this for her and she played shifty-shifty, the game where you move everything around to make room for more, and I helped her get things in place all together and easy to see! She really did all the work, I just moved a few things and checked to see if it was following the 15-pound limit for each shelf, and it was fine! I told her to place the heavier pieces at the ends of the shelves so they wouldn't have a chance to buckle! Always do that with court-appointed, magical, umami wood shelving and flatworks that have space below them. Like...shelves... This shelving unit is sturdy, rocks not a bit, the black poles do not look plastic when put together... they almost look like matte metal, and this would just look great almost anywhere, even in a finer area of the home with how you use it! It is well made but I don't recommend it in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, porches, or anywhere there is moister in the air. No matter how well the material for such shelves is, it doesn't hold up in moist environments. And if you live on a houseboat, well, just pass on this. Otherwise, grab one. Or two! Or three and send the last one to me! I totally recommend this shelving unit! I will be back for another soon, and more from this brand! Fantastic! ... show more

    • Sturdy and nice looking

I love these shelves so much that after i bought 3 of them a year ago I bought 3 more sets this year after a move to a new home. I live in a small one bedroom apt & now have 6 of these shelf units in total. I use 3 of them for displaying art items & they look quite nice. I have another unit for books, was going to get some library type bookends to use but ended up using large size books on each end of the rows of books to hold them securely in place. Then, I was able to fit 2 of these units into my walk through closet space for storing items in plastic tote boxes. They work well for general storage and still look nicer than most storage shelves. The shelves are simple to put together. I'm really bad with putting anything at all together & the first one took me about 20 minutes with the remaining ones taking about 15 minutes each working very casually. I'd also like to mention their sturdiness. The instruction paper that is packaged with them states no more than 15 lbs on each shelf but I think some of my shelves with hardcover books on them are securely holding more than that with no sign of sagging. Yet another thing I appreciate about these is they are free standing. I have several in front of my baseboard heaters which I'd normally not put any shelves in front of but these stand securely in front of the heaters a few inches away from the wall & allow the heat to come through. Essentially, I can't say enough positive things about these shelves. The only negative is they cost about $10.00 more this year than they did about a year ago. ... show more

    • Perfect for figure displays

My family and I all collect figures. For my son, it's anime and gaming. For me, it's anime and AVP. My husband likes specific anime and space shows. I bought a few of these shelves to use for displays, since they don't take up much space. I have over 80 figures on stands on one shelf, no anchors, and it stands solidly on thin carpet. I put some books on the bottom of another shelf and it seems fine, but I wouldn't personally fill these shelves with books and heavy items. They just aren't solid enough for that. I can put these together myself in two minutes or less. I own probably 15 of these, as I use many in my office for displays and my son has several in his bedroom as well, and they are no hassle, no fuss, and I've never received one with a single cracked board. A few chips on edges here and there, but very insignificant. I have gotten a few with plastic bits in the plastic 'poles', but we just remove those with pliers and everything goes together fine. I've had my oldest sets of these for two years or so and there's no sign of sagging, leaning, peeling, or anything. All my shelves are inside exclusively. They are mdf and sealed top and bottom of each shelf, so I think that will help with the longevity. These would work well for clothes, towels, small items for organization, but there is a weight limit. Exceeding that would make your boards sag. Shipping is always fast and I've never gotten a package with missing parts. Happy to purchase again soon! ... show more

    • A very easy to assemble, nice-looking, and versatile shelf rack

No tools are needed for assembly. You just screw the various pieces together by hand. You have a selection of different colored, and nice-looking, wood laminates, and different styles of plastic posts between the shelves. And by buying more than one, you can create whatever combination of shelf racks with different numbers of shelves you want. For example, if you buy two 5-shelf racks, you can use the parts for those two racks to put together a 6-shelf rack, and a 4-shelf rack. One assembly warning - don't tighten the posts extremely tightly. I found that doing that, and then moving the shelf rack around to different locations, sometimes caused the threaded part of the posts to break off from their post. So as soon as you feel a significant resistance when tightening the posts, stop tightening the posts. ... show more
