TLDR: Bought this DVD/Game shelf for my video game collection 6 months ago and it’s exactly what I needed. Easy to assemble, very stable once the back panel is attached, and fits 4–5 rows of games or DVDs perfectly. Compact footprint makes it ideal for small rooms or apartments. Good quality for the price ($40), looks nice with black furniture, and holds media safely. Highly recommended. I needed a media shelf for my video game collection. I’d had a similar one at my old house, but when I moved, I gave it away. I didn’t think I’d need one again, but once I started collecting games again, this was exactly what I needed. I paid about $40 with tax, which I think is a great price for the value. Honestly, the price is about the same as I paid for my last shelf back around 2008, and the quality feels the same. Assembly was very easy. The instructions were clear, the pieces fit together without trouble, and it only took a short time to put together. I didn’t have any issues with pegs or screws, and once the back panel is attached, the shelf becomes very stable. The base is slightly deeper/wider than the top, so I didin't need to anchor it to the wall for stability under normal use. The shelf comes with five adjustable shelves, which I mostly use for my video games. Four of the shelves hold games perfectly, and the fifth shelf sits on the bottom. Each row fits roughly 25 DVD cases, which is plenty for a small collection of Nintendo Wii, xBox, and PlayStation games. The shelf is about three feet tall, which is perfect for a small room or apartment. I like that it doesn’t take up much space and keeps my collection neat and organized. Quality and sturdiness are very good for the price. It’s made from MDF/particle board, lightweight, but it feels solid for holding DVDs, games, and movies. It’s not built to support heavy furniture, but for media storage, it works perfectly. The footprint is small, the look is clean, and it fits with my black furniture and decor. I’ve read some negative reviews about assembly or the shelf being flimsy. From my experience, those complaints are mostly due to not following the instructions carefully. If you take your time and make sure pegs are fully seated, the shelf is very safe and stable. I had zero issues, no broken pieces, and it’s held up perfectly. I own a lot of DVD's, streaming is great but in my opinion if you can't hold it in your hand you don't really own it and electronic versions of movies don't count. Also there are quite a few titles that aren't available on streaming but are on DVD. Anyway, I had two DVD storage towers for years that hold a lot of DVD's but I've outgrown them and obviously they've become very hard to find. I needed one that didn't take up a lot of space but held the rest of my DVD's (119 of them!). I came across this product and for the price I thought what's to lose. It turned out to be awesome; easy to put together, great quality for the price and it looks fine, and holds 120 DVD's! And it's very compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space. It comes with enough shelves to use it for CD's as well, I ended up with four extra shelves that I didn't need. If you've got a DVD collection (or CD's) I highly recommend it. Pretty good shelves. I had an issue when I built it, which was that I couldn't get a screw through the center hole. Since I couldn't tell, I pushed too hard and punched right through, splintering off a chunk. It's easy to do with this kind of lightweight particle board/cheap composite. I also suggest using hand tools rather than drills for that reason. Also because the wood is cheap and light, you might want to have some ballast at the bottom, like books. However, it does hold a lot of DVDs. It's about 5 feet tall, 2-2.5 feet wide and about 1 foot deep. The shelves are easy to resize, they aren't permanent, just some plastic pegs hold them in place. It won't bear much weight. Books MUST go at the bottom. It comes with a bracket to attach to the wall. If you have rowdy kids or animals, I'd suggest looking for something a lot more sturdy. I doubt this would survive a move. On building it, I'd give it about 7/10 on difficulty, which means that if you are good at building by pictures ONLY, you'll probably be ok or with a few mistakes. There are no words in the building instructions - none. But I'm a man. We aren't challenged greatly by this kind of thing. Notice in the directions it says something like 1 x 5 or 2x 6 or something similar, and the first number is the part, the second is the number of them. ... show more

    • Complete Garbage - Amazon Should Ban It

Waste of time and money. pieces of the wood lament were chipping off as I took it out of the box. as you assemble it screws will fall out despite how tight or loose they are. parts are not labeled which make the bare bones instructions borderline useless. as I was standing up one half of the assembled unit 1 board cracked and another just snapped. I had to throw the whole thing out and I am now out nearly $100 when you factor in taxes. If you read this review and still buy this product you deserve all the misery it brings. it chips, cracks, scratches and breaks under the slightest use. Total garbage and a complete waste of my time and money. The one saving grace is I did not have the chance to put items of value on it since I am confident it would have collapse and damaged them. in my opinion this product is so bad that Amazon should step in and ban it from the site. I'd give it zero stars but that isn't an option. ... show more

it’s an OK piece. My husband put it together. I loaded it up with DVDs and it fits in our front closet. Haven’t noticed any instability, but I didn’t overload it either. You’ll be happier with this if once it’s loaded, you don’t move it.

This shelving unit. It's a perfect size for where I placed it on the wall. It's small in height, about 4/12 ft. The unit is sturdy and does not take a look up much space. It would be great or studio apartment or a small area where space is limited. I would recommend this purchase.
