I bought 2 models: 4-tier and 5-tier. I'm very satisfied w/ the 4-tier; a little less with the 5-tier. Relatively speaking, the instructions are clear and pretty easy, especially compared to other companies' furniture instructions. The 5-tier takes longer and is more involved, but the instructions are fine. They are made from engineered wood, as it states that clearly in the product listing. 4-tier: Seems solid enough. For me, the most important thing was the size: it fits right in the space that I have. The black veneer is attractive enough. One small note: it's a *tad* uneven. It may be the way I put it together. So it rocks a teensy bit. It's not enough to bother me or create a problem for my usage, but I wouldn't use it to shelve very fragile items incase it tilts or falls accidentally. They DO include a doodad that you can attach to the back that has a hole so you can sink a screw or a thumbtack into the wall to stabilize it. I didn't bother, but at least you have the option. 5-tier: It's basically a 2-tier on top of a 3-tier unit. They're connected with screw-pegs and a cam-lock system. I had trouble with the cams. So I can't pick up the unit from one of the upper shelves or the 2-unit will probably disconnect. It's can still use it, but as with the 4-tier, it's not super stable (unless you anchor it to the wall). It's not a problem for me, but in a scenario where the unit might be bumped or people aren't careful removing/replacing items and it tips, the top 2-unit could fall off (unless I can get the cams to work.) These photos tell the truth. 1. Screws that do not have the slots for a screwdriver, instead filled in with the metal, see foto. 2. The edges are scratched off, all over. 3. The edges do not fill the entire shelf. Its not even where one screws two pieces together, its the manufacter sloppiness. 4. The pieces do not fit together evenly, at all. Different in different areas on the piece. 5. For the 5 shelf, 10” wide one, you essentially put together a 3 shelf and a 2 shelf and then attach them, which causes two issues. The two pieces do not line up AND you get big ugly metal pieces showing inside that shelf. No plastic pieces to snap in them to “hide” the ugly. 6. Speaking of plastic pieces, they give you some to push into each screw on the outside, instead of stickers like other cheap pieces. HOWEVER, be aware they fall out and your animal or toddler may eat it if it does. Furthermore, why not give two for the ugly 4 big metal pieces on the shelf! 7. The screws are not flush on the outer part. They inset some, why not all!! So if you wanted to cover the horrible uneven white color with contact paper, well you cant. 8. The color is a terrible uneven, faded white situation. And peeled off, worn and torn out of the box! 9. Picking off the letter stickers had hidden black underneath! It does not wipe off. 10. Each board, shelf and outter piece is very thin. Maybe 1/4” thick. You want poor quality? This is it. ... show more

They were easy to put together but the veneer or whatever is used to coat the particle board is barely sticking to the shelves. And the partial board used isn't the greatest. Even with the predrilled holes, the boards still split when inserting the screws. But they were the closest to what I needed without having to DIY. They look okay once the veneer was glued down properly so I'll be keeping them. ... show more
