I want to start off by saying that my stepdaughter didn’t complain and absolutely loves the bed. After assembling it, it seems much sturdier than any of the reviews of similarly priced items I shopped around for. That said, my OCD absolutely hated assembling the bed and the final product. I’m fairly handy and it was much more laborious and tedious than I anticipated. The instruction manual is small and compact, pictures aren’t the greatest and most clear, and the way the hardware was packaged was absolutely insane. There would be like 4 sets of screws in one tiny ziploc bag and little pieces of paper with numbers on them just thrown in along with them. You had to manually figure out which screw was which number and if you didn’t keep track or separate them early on, then it was difficult to recall which one it was when the counts now longer added up. The quality of the bed itself was pretty cheap. While a mixture of compressed wood and regular wood, along with the typical backings that you’d find on similar furniture, the plywood type pieces often split when screwing the hardware in. The screw sizes were bigger than the pilot holes and difficult and sometimes painful to install with an Allen wrench. There were other instances where there were no pilot holes at all, so if you didn’t have an impact or drill, you were really having to work to install a support piece. The drawers were highly disappointing. I took them apart numerous times trying to get them to line up correctly and we still have one or two that stick badly, and one that only closes on the left corner but the right bulges out due to some product warping or messed up track. The plywood type pieces split very easily. If it hadn’t been so heavy and assumedly expensive to ship back, I probably would’ve after getting the desk assembled and not being satisfied. Either way, I committed to the project and it seems sturdy - though some of the split pieces are worrisome. From a distance, it is a beautiful loft bed that my stepdaughter loves. If you nitpick it or care about every detail (such as all drawers closing and functioning as they should), I’d avoid the purchase entirely. I’m just upset I’ll still be paying the item off for another month or two due to my current cost of living situation. ... show more

    • Well worth the effort to put together

For how inexpensive this is I was surprised with the quality of hardware. Takes about three hours to unpack and put together. Do yourself a favor and use a quality 4mm Allen Wrench, a T handle one would be best as you use it a lot. The included Allen wrench is worthless. I wish the instructions were printed larger. Yes I am getting old and forgot my reading glasses. Everything was packed well as none of the many parts were damaged. Paired with a 12 inch hybrid mattress. A huge success for a 4 year old. The bed took my husband almost all day to assemble (with lots of breaks of course). Once done it turned out great! It's a little wobbly so we just got some brackets to secure it to the wall. My son loves his new bed and I love all the storage he has to keep things organized.

My 3 yr old loves his bed. We've had it for a few months now. Instructions were easy to ready and follow. The only downside was putting the slide together. It was such a tight fit. That's a positive thing though. When assembling, the bed felt a little loose, but once everything is together, it's sturdy. The chalk board is picky on which chalks it likes, but it works. Mattress is an 8 inch memory foam and works great. No issues so far. ... show more

Cheaply made, so many pieces, and several of the pieces were wrong and I have had to fix things already while putting it together. The wood split in one of the desk pieces and the screw was to long for the top piece of the desk and started poking out. Don’t waste your money or time.
