Description

"The Frye Company For more than 153 years, Frye craftsmen have been dedicated to the art of shoemaking, creating modern patterns, discovering materials and even inventing machinery. Rooted in authentic American heritage, The Frye Company uses the best leathers, designs and innovations in the pursuit of timeless, artisanal style. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When homesteading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. Frye’s mission, to make iconic leather goods that endure, has remained unchanged throughout its storied history. Tyler Lace Up Handcrafted from soft vintage leather, some of the amazing details on this pair of men’s leather boots include the rawhide leather laces, precision stitching, rubber insets on leather sole, and a hand- burnished toe and heel. A nice little boot with a distinctly vintage attitude."

  • Great boots.
Size: 9 Color: Black 1 - 86070
These boots are great. The leather is soft so they did not take long to break-in. They are a bit on the narrow side but I have narrow feet so they fit me perfect. I got them a half size bigger than normal so I could put in insoles but I probably did not have to since the leather stretches slightly. The leather laces are not my favorite but that is not a big deal for me. They are a bit dressier than I am used to for boots but they go well with jeans or chinos. ... show more

  • Nice boot!
Size: 10.5 Color: 86071-black
Yes-- this is a more narrow fit boot. Wasn't a big deal for me as I don't have huge wide feet. I purchased my exact size and it fit nicely. Very comfortable but would recommend purchasing an insole for extra comfort. ..... the black I received was the distressed black (looks kinda scuffed up and worn)-- very nice. Would recommend as long as you don't have Fred Flintstone feet. ... show more

  • Did not meet expectaions.
Size: 10.5 Color: Black 1 - 86070
These were for my husband, who was looking for a nice pair of dressy black boots. He currently owns three pairs of Frye's boots. Two pairs are made in the USA, one pair made in Mexico. These initial boots are really high quality and will probably last a lifetime. We were under the impression this pair would be of the same caliber based on some of the reviews we read. The leather was soft, however it was thin and frankly did not feel like it would last heavy use. The soles were much lighter and thinner. This boot was much lighter and did not have a heavy duty quality. The stitching had numerous flaws. Strangely, the boots did not arrive in a Frye box. The boots are not made in North America as was mentioned in older reviews or comments. Because the price point does not match the quality we decided to return the item. ... show more

  • Very sharp and well made boots
Size: 13 Color: Black 1 - 86070
These are great boots. They have a very tailored appearance, not at all clunky or heavy. Yet, they are very well made and sturdy. They look great with a suit and with jeans. They look like they will last a life time. They fit well, including over the ankle and up the calf. The leather is high quality. I have worn Frye shoes/boots over the years and they usually have high craftsmanship. These are no exception. ... show more

  • Bought two pairs!
Size: 8.5 Color: Dark Brown Soft Vintage Leather - 86070
I ordered Vintage Brown but was shipped Dark Brown instead. I decided to keep it, as I think with a little wear the boots will break in and weather nicely. Keep this in mind, though, if Vintage Brown is what you want. The boots are nice, fully lined with sheepskin and well constructed. They are narrow, but comfortable for me. Heeding the other reviews, I ordered a half size smaller than usual and they are still a bit long. There is no arch support built into this boot, the insole is flat. I inserted an orthotic insole but there's just barely room for it. I don't like the painted-on dark highlighting that covers the toes and heel area, but I hope with some weathering, it won't be as noticeable. Overall this is a well made and comfortable boot, perfect for jeans and khakis. Update: I wore the boots for 14 hours the first day with no discomfort. The leather is stiff but comfortable. It will break in nicely. The dark brown finish has a burgundy - oxblood base color visible in full sun. I am considering sanding off the edge dressing on the sole to help weather it. I'm beginning to really dislike the fake burnishing applied to the heel and toe. It makes a fine, well made pair of boots look like a $79 special. Update: I bought another pair in black. The black pair has a higher dome toe and thicker all-rubber sole and heel so it looks more like a work boot. I thought it might be helpful to post pictures so you can see what they look like in a non professional photograph. ... show more

  • Inaccurate product picture
Size: 11 Color: Cognac - Nessy
I own several pairs of Frye boots, they are well made.i ordered a pair of cognac colored Tyler Lace up boots.the web picture shows a deep rust color with a darker toe and heal. The boots I received were a watered down color(compared to the website picture) with no dark shading on the toe and heal. Either Amazon or Frye needs to have the picture accurately depict the product they mail to the customer. As a prime member who places hundreds or orders a year this is really irritating. Come on guys. ... show more

  • Comfy, sexy, worth the money
Spend the extra money for these shoes, your feet, no, your whole body will thank you. I have a standing desk at work and cheaper shoes gave me massive foot and lower leg pain. People have complemented my shoes and they are versatile for work or casual wear. I've never regretted the money spent on these. 1 Year update: These shoes finally gave way, although the part that broke will surprise you. The inside leather wore away from where it rubbed with the hard (plastic?) heel support on the backside of the shoes. By this point, the rubber soles had hardly any tread left and the leather laces had worn out, although still usable. I contacted Frye and they couldn't fix or replace, but offered me a credit since I was in their 1 year warranty. ... show more

  • Thought it was a woman's boot it was so narrow!
Was still top quality leather and construction- maybe it would have stretched, but I have a somewhat wide foot and didnt want to go through the break in process. I love all Frye styles, their Arkansas collection suits my E width foot much better. If you have a narrow foot the Tyler may be for you.
