I found this Life Vest to be particularly comfortable while kayaking since it has very open shoulder openings, mesh around the lower back for good breathability, and a short torso length. Floatation is adequate for me at 5’11” and 185 lbs. Decent life vest in my opinion.

If you are required to have or use US Coast Guard approved vests THIS WILL NOT WORK. The vest appears to be ok, but the lack of that rating makes me concerned for its performance and longevity. It is less expensive than most, but not enough to risk this lack of certification. I bought some to use in my business, but cannot because they are not Coast Guard Approved.

As an avid kayaker, I bought this lifejacket as a lightweight backup to my main lifejacket. This one has 2 pockets which are perfect for holding keys, fishing gear, and other easily accessible items. I also love the double whistle which is extremely loud and attracts attention in emergency situations. I do wish that the buckles tightened more around the waist as well as around my shoulders since you're supposed to be able to lift your body weight out of the water using the straps. This medium size would come right over my head and off my body so I should have downsized as a 5-9" 172lb man. The two main chest foams are just two blocks of foam, but should do the trick.

When flyfishing, I always love stepping in the stream to get the areas where I can cast the reel. Trying to be safe and enjoy my hobby, I use a watersport vest when I go out. The FRITTON vest is lightweight and it does fit nice. I found it to be snug enough to the body to actually feel it is there, but it didn't get in the way as I was using my reel and rod. The vest fabric is fairly soft and the zippers fit tight. The pockets close very well and you can be seen from a distance as it's a bright powder blue color seen on front and back. The vest has several pockets and can be used for fishing, boating and other outdoor events. I've only used it standing in the water (in case I fell) and on the kayak when fishing on the lake. Thankfully I didn't fall in the water at any time, but even if I did, this vest was on. Overall, I'd recommend this vest to anyone deciding to check out a water sport. It's a fair value and easy to wear.

I got this to use with my sit-in kayak on paddling trips where a basic PFD isn't sufficient, and I have to say that the quality is pretty good for the price. The nylon Cordura material is not quite as durable as what I've found in more expensive PFDs but adequate for light use. The fit and range of motion is where this vest really excels. The side openings are very large and offer lots of room to move and stretch. I never feel constrained even when paddling vigorously. This wouldn't be my first choice for white water kayaking or rafting, but to be fair, it isn't really made for those activities. But for all-around paddling and boating, this is a good PFD.

We have a large extended family and do lots of water sports - sailing, canoeing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding - so we can always use an extra life vest. This is a nice vest but I have given it only 3 stars because I am reluctant to recommend a vest that does not have U.S. Coast Guard certification, certification that is missing on this vest but that is on all the other floatation vests we have. Without that certification we will use this vest for standup paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing on calm lakes where the user is typically in a swim suit, but will not use it for sailing or boating on large or rough or salt waters. The vest is easy to adjust to fit and appears well made. It has more flotation on the front and less on the back than our other vests making it perhaps particularly suited for sitting in a kayak. The arm openings are large and well placed so you have complete, free movement for paddling with any type of paddle.
