Description

Freud Mortising Bits are expertly designed to deliver clean, precise, and splinter-free mortises in plywood, veneer, solid wood, and almost any composite material. Most of these bits feature a down shear design, which pushes wood fibers downward during the cut, ensuring smooth, clean top surfaces and virtually eliminating splintering. Perfect for mortising hinges and hardware or cutting grooves and dadoes, these bits also excel in maintaining the accuracy of your CNC router’s spoilboard. Their deep center gullets allow for maximum material removal without chip loading, ensuring fast, efficient cutting in every pass. These versatile bits are ideal for use on CNC, hand-held, and table-mounted portable routers. Many models come with top bearings to suit popular routing jigs, adding extra convenience and flexibility for your routing tasks. Additionally, the Freud Perma-SHIELD coating reduces friction and enhances tool life, making these bits a durable choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts.

  • Great flattening router bit
This router bit did a great job flattening a fairly large Aspen wood slab. I recently built a table using part of a tree stump and needed a way to flatten the surface. I created a jig using two pieces of aluminum angle iron so that I could run my palm router back and forth along the table surface. I removed about 1/16 to 1/8 inch on each pass. The bit had no trouble cutting through the wood material. I probably made in excess of 50 passes and the bit still performed well. I am very happy with its performance and design. ... show more

  • It's a Freud - That should explain it.
Used this to resurface a log that my daughter used for her wedding as a platter. The log was too big for my planer so I was able to use this to resurface it nicely. And hey, its a Freud -that really says it all.

  • Finally have a good one
I don't use a spoilboard surfacing bit every day, but have bought about 6 kinds after being disappointed with the results. This Freud one has been much better, and is the only one I now use.

  • Godd for flattening
Made nice, level boards for my CNC

  • Absolutely amazing
This bit is a beast. I'm planing down 2 pieces of 10 ft Ash (one 14in and one 8in wide). I'm taking shallow passes with low rpm, but it just chews through the wood. Absolutely amazing. I've taken off about 1/2" from each so far. No signs of dulling yet, but i just tossed another one in my cart in the event a tip breaks before I finish my project. I'll be using these bits for all my projects going forward! ... show more
