Description

10" x 80T Double Sided Laminate/Melamine Blade The 10-inch Freud LU97R010 Double Sided Laminate and Melamine Cutting Saw Blade is designed to make quick, smooth, chip-free cuts when working with laminates, melamine, and veneered plywood. It features Freud's Perma-SHIELD coating, and a triple-chip tooth grind, the long-term dependability of TiCo high-density carbide, and a series of laser-cut, anti-vibration slots.Triple- Chip Grind for Chip-Free Top and Bottom SurfacesBuilt to leave a high-quality, chip-free finish on both the top and the bottom of double-sided laminates and sheets of melamine, this blade features 80 teeth with a triple-chip grind. The blade's teeth also feature positive hook angles for longer tooth life in production applications. And this blade is so effective that there's no need to use a scoring blade with it.This blade is designed for optimal performance when cutting laminate or melamine that ranges from 1/4 to 1-5/8 inches in thickness. It's also a solid performer when crosscutting wood or working with plywood and chipboard that's less than 1-inch thick. If This blade can even rip wood, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.126 kerf.Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration DesignThis Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use. Furthermore, this well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use add-on stabilizers with this blade.High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting PerformanceThis laminate saw blade's 80 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "laminate blend." Formulated to extend tooth life in the face of work with laminates, melamine, and solid surfaces, this blend is extra hard--due to the proportion of high-density tungsten carbide that goes into it--and it still offers the mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--saving you time and money.Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat BuildupBuilt to withstand tough use in less-than- ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non- stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster. This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.About Freud: A History of Innovative ManufacturingAn industry leader for more than 50 years, Freud America, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of superior carbide cutting tools for the woodworking industry. • Worked great for melamine shelves
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
I don't usually write reviews but this blade worked very well for melamine closet shelving that I installed in my daughter's home. I cut around (30) 16" deep shelves and ripped 24' of double sided shelving. Cuts at the end of my project were still exceptional. I set blade height 1/8 thicker than the 3/4 material and had no issues and NO chipout ... show more

  • Full thickness NOT thin kerf
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
i had hoped for better. Blade cuts double sided 3/4 and 5/8 melamine very well. Very little chip out but there is some, and for that I am disappointed. The chip out appears sensitive to blade height. normally with sheet goods I'd have the blade exposed about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the depth of the material. With this blade and cutting double sided melamine the best height is about 1 to 1.5 inches above the material height. Too high and the bottom chips, too low and the top chips. Experiment with scraps to find the best height and feed rate ... show more

  • Nice hefty tcg blade
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
This is by far one of the best TCG saw blades I’ve used. I specifically purchased this to use on a large Melamine mill job. Cuts are accurate and clean as long as you scribe your cuts (half cut on each side of sheet goods), full through cuts still produce tear outs as is the nature of Melamine no matter what blade you use. This blade has a tendency to gum up with melamine. I use simple green daily to clean the blade. Most blades are a hassle to clean even with simple green, but this blade looks like new with every cleanup. Good blade, hefty full kerf. ... show more

  • Good value and good results.
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
I have been using this blade for over 6 years in our wood shop for cutting double sided melamine, and I currently have 6 of these blades. I use the blade on a 10" Powermatic 66 table saw and I usually get the best possible results for using a basic table saw. The absolute best method would be to use a sliding table saw with a scoring blade, however we do not cut enough melamine to justify that expense. I build custom closet systems and my customers have never complained about the cut edges being chipped. Using this blade does require careful precise attention to the height adjustment. Too high and there will be excessive chipping on the bottom, too low and excessive chipping on the top. You have to adjust the height to get the best result on the top and bottom cuts of melamine. Once the blade is dulled some, we downgrade it to be used for cutting Extira, MDF, and some wood cuts where chipping is a factor. The only drawback I see is not with the blade itself, but I find I can't get them sharpened properly locally ... show more

  • Works fine for me, but obviously not for everyone.
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
People seem to have had different luck with this blade; I'm generally in the "good luck" group. I'm not sure why. I don't get 100% chip-less cuts all the time, but most of the time I can rip a 48" melamine board without any chipping. Since melamine is cheap, and there's usually a way to install the board so a small, isolated chip doesn't matter, this works fine for me despite the occasional chip. There are a number of tricks for cutting laminate without chipping. Most of the time with a manageable size piece I don't need any of them with this blade. If you're new to this I'd look up the tricks. If you're an old hand and this blade doesn't work for you, I have no idea why. Maybe you got a lemon? ... show more

  • Not as good as I had hoped
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
I bought this saw blade here on Amazon. I thought I was getting a blade that could cleanly cut both sides of melamine material. I did not. This blade is nice as far as the top side of the melamine is concerned but the bottom is another story. I installed in with a zero clearance insert (that I had made specifically for this blade), at first cut it totally chipped out the bottom THOUGH, that was my own fault because I had the blade raised way too high to work efficiently. The farther I lowered the blade the better the chip out became on the bottom side. Eventually I got it to where there was hardly any chip out but the blade was seriously maybe a quarter of an inch above the 3/4 inch mel. Heres my issue, I was testing the blades chip out on small pieced of melamine, I make shelves and I cut full 8 foot rips on my table saw, this thing was nearly as bad as a regular blade in that respect. The top edge is fine but the bottom is chipping BAD, there is no mistake about it. I knew I was gambling when I bought this blade for 40 bucks. Tenru makes a similar blade that costs over $100. I should have spent my money on something else. I would not buy this blade again if I had the chance, I will probably just be using this blade for making small cuts, I would put it on my miter saw but I do not have a chop saw with a 10 inch blade and a 5/8 arbor. This blade gets 2 stars only becuase I will be able to use this for SOMETHING at my shop, if I didnt work on small projects this thing would get one or maybe none if it were possible. ... show more

  • SUPERIOR
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth TCG Double Sided Lamina...
I get outstanding cuts in 3/4" melamine with this blade. I keep two in the shop so I can always have a sharp one. I cut on a Delta Unisaw: First cut is a very shallow scoring cut. Then I flip the workpiece and raise the blade to go most of the way through. I can't get a good cut if I cut the entire thickness in one pass, but that's the nature of Melamine. I highly recommend this blade. ... show more

  • It cuts through everything like butter, there's no resistance like with our old ...
Style: 8-Inch 64 Tooth TCG Saw Blade with 5/8-I...
Using this on a panel saw - the teeth have a negative angle so you need to take it a bit slow but it cuts acrylic sheets FLAWLESSLY - no chipping, no cracking, no melting. So far we've used it for 3mm-6mm aluminum composite, 1/2" plywood, 1/8"-1/2" acrylic, .040-.080-gauge aluminum sheets, and 1/4"-1" expanded foam PVC. It cuts through everything like butter, there's no resistance like with our old blades. It's thick and substantial enough that there's no flexing so the cuts are precise, and it has the vents so I don't foresee warping being an issue. Since some of our materials cost more per sheet than this blade, it pays for itself very quickly when you aren't chipping/cracking the edges like our old blades sometimes would. 5/5 would recommend. ... show more
