Description

Style:10-Inch 80 Tooth ATB Ultimate Cut-Off Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating This superior blade gives glass-smooth finishes when crosscutting hard and soft woods, so no sanding is required. What makes this blade so special is the unique side grinding of each tooth. The teeth actually polish the material as it cuts. New laser-cut anti- vibration slots practically eliminate the vibration that resonates in standard blades, producing glass-smooth finishes. With a finish this perfect you won’t need stabilizers! The 10-inch Freud LU85R010 Ultimate Cut-Off Saw Blade delivers fast, accurate crosscuts and leaves glass-smooth finishes that eliminate the need for sanding. Featuring 80 teeth with alternating bevels and TiCo high-density carbide tips, a unique side-grind setup that polishes material as you cut through it, and Freud's insulating, Perma-SHIELD coating, this blade is built to deliver top results over the long haul.LU85R010 Ultimate Cut-Off Saw BladeAt a Glance:Ideal for smooth crosscuts in materials that are 1/4 to 1-5/8 inches thickHeavy-duty plate with laser-cut, anti- vibration slotsTough Perma-Shield coating reduces friction and heat buildupTechnical Specs:CoatingPerma-SHIELDDiameter10"Teeth80 ATBArbor5/8"Kerf (K).116Plate (P).098Depth of CutUnique Side Grind polishes the material to produce a superior finishLaser-Cut Anti-Vibration Slots drastically reduce vibration and sideways movement in the cut extending blade life, and giving a crisp, flawless finishATB Teeth with Side-Grinding for Glass-Smooth FinishesThis cut-off blade's 80-tooth alternating-top-bevel (ATB) configuration features teeth that face both left and right--a versatile setup that's ideal for crosscuts in hard- and softwood, as well as general use. And thanks to the unique side-grind on each tooth, the blade smoothes work surfaces as it cuts through them. This leaves you with a super-smooth, high- quality finish that doesn't need to be sanded down. This blade is designed for optimal performance when crosscutting wood that is 1/4 to 1-5/8 inches thick or when cutting chipboard and plywood that is less than 1-inch thick. The blade can also handle ripping wood and working with laminate, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.116 kerf.Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration DesignThis Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use. Furthermore, this well- balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use add-on stabilizers with this blade.High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting PerformanceThis cut-off saw blade's 80 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "crosscut blend." Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge in the face of demanding crosscut applications, this blend is extra hard--due to including more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends--and it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening. and will hold up longer--saving you time and money.Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat BuildupBuilt to withstand tough use in less-than- ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non- stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster. This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.About Freud: A History of Innovative ManufacturingAn industry leader for more than 50 years, Freud America, Inc. is a manufacturer and marketer of superior carbide cutting tools for the woodworking industry. • Freud VS. "The Gold Standard"
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth ATB Ultimate Cut-Off Sa...
This blade among other Frued blades has the quality that seems unmatched by any others. Most people compare these to "the gold standard" - being a Forrest blade. In my personal opinion, after using both for 10+ years now: Frued seems to come out on top in cutting quality every time, but keep in mind, I am judging this by the manufacturers statements of exactly each blades intentions on the purpose it was built for. Frued makes this clear, says what types of wood, the type of cut, depth of cut, and even ideal saw HP. When I follow these guidelines, I find that Freud is unmatched. Glue ready, glass-like cuts. Not only that, they seem to even run quietest compared to others, and that's a plus too. Forrest blades - twice the price, but is it worth it? My experience is that the blades do have amazing quality, yet do not have nearly a descriptive range of what they are intended for. They do say what type of cut, and they also explain the blade is meant to be RAISED HIGHER for ideal cuts. They even come with a full walkthrough of how to eliminate tearout and friction burning. What they do not say is "meant for x type of woods of x height through x height and x HP saws" etc. I do find that I get amazing quality cuts overall, and the carbide teeth are of better long lasting quality than Freud has to offer. I have never chipped a tooth in a Forrest WW2, but I have in Freud multiple times. Also, Forrest will resharped and fix/balance the blades for their entire life, which says a lot! Overall; Freud seems to come out on top when using the exact purpose of the blade as described. They will not stand by their blades or resharpen or fix them, but do have amazing quality for price! Forrest also offer amazing cuts, back their blades for their lifetime, and have been put to the test for multiple decades. Either is a great choice, but Freud has the same if not better quality cuts for half the price, and less longevity. ... show more

  • Blade diameter is NOT 10 inches
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth Hi-ATB Ultimate Plywood...
This looks like a nice blade for plywood, but I can't use it. The blade is just under 9.85 inches in diameter, not 10 inches as described. (It's probably a 25 cm blade, since Freud is in Italy.) The smaller diameter means the top of the blade is lower than the riving knife on my Sawstop PCS, so I can't use it to make non-through cuts in plywood. I don't do those very often, but I need to occasionally. I've heard of people grinding down the tops of their riving knives to work with non-US-standard, small blades like this, but I refuse to alter a $3,000 saw to accommodate a non-standard blade. It's going back. ... show more

  • Works Wonderfully
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth Hi-ATB Ultimate Plywood...
I could not be happier with the performance of this blade. If you're doing a lot of plywood cutting, especially across the grain of the veneer, it's a joy to use. It's costly but will pay for itself in no time in material savings, not to mention time savings. Pair it with a zero-clearance insert for best results– almost zero blowout and the edges look like they came off a jointer. It does OK on solid material too, if you're looking to avoid changing the blade on every cut. It's slow compared to a solid stock specialty blade, but gets it done. I did poplar face frames on plywood cabinets and used this blade for everything with no issues. ... show more

  • Indeed this is an ultimate plywood blade
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth Hi-ATB Ultimate Plywood...
As an amateur sawdust maker I have come to appreciate wood cutting tools that perform their assigned tasks flawlessly. My SawStop table saw deserves blades and fixtures that meet its potential for accuracy. This blade does that. I purchased this saw blade to rip oak veneer plywood and must say it does the job beautifully. No chips--no splinters! It cuts as fast as I feel like feeding and leaves a glass smooth surface. On oak boards, it leaves the same glass smooth surface on crosscuts. A chart on the blade itself rates it only fair for rip cuts and I have not tried it to see what it does. The angle of the teeth leaves a high, sharp peak in the middle as the cut is made and so this blade is not designed for any application needing a flat bottomed kerf. The blade is quiet and completely vibration-free. This will be my plywood blade and occasional crosscut blade. It is well worth its price. ... show more

  • From beaver finish to mirror finish
Style: 12-Inch 96 Tooth ATB Crosscutting Saw Bl...
Just used the Freud cutoff blade on a 7 year old DEWALT miter saw with its original stock blade. Wow what a difference. Like going to a steak knife after using chop sticks to cut into a ribeye. I had forgotten how nice cross cuts could be on a miter saw. I have an equally great Freud cutoff 10 inch blade for my cabinet saw. Both leave beautiful polished finishes. The tablesaw blade is just a little nicer with its mirror finish but the miter blade will give the tablesaw blade a run for its money. I have a zero clearance insert on the mitersaw which eliminates virtually any tear out. The blade I was using was starting to give me the beavers chew finish. As always Freud makes great blades and router bits. Worth the money. ... show more

  • Best plywood blade I've used
Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth Hi-ATB Ultimate Plywood...
This is a really good blade for plywood, best I've used. The kerf is a little over 1/8", which is a little thick, but the upside is that both sides of the kerf are as clean as a whistle. No fuzz or tear out. I use this blade to cut plywood for shelves and drawers. Though I use it to make hundreds of long cuts per week on hardwood plywood, I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever get dull. When it does, the sharpening man will be significantly richer. He charges by the tooth. ... show more

Style: 10-Inch 80 Tooth Hi-ATB Ultimate Plywood...
Excellent blade. I combined this with a zero-clearance insert for my Delta 36-725 table saw, as seen here: Delta Power Equipment Corporation 36-501 Zero Clearance Throat Plate This works great for cross cuts and plywood, with zero tearout. I'm not sure if it would perform as well without the zero-clearance insert, but together, it's a perfect combination. I've also done some rip cuts with this to avoid having to switch out blades, and it works fine in a pinch. There is a tendency to burn the wood if you let it sit too long, though, so it's always better to use a proper combo or ripping blade for rip cuts. ... show more
