  • Makes switching filters a breeze!!
This filter system addresses one of the most aggravating aspects of using filters, screwing them on and off. Having the magnetic connection allows you to transition quickly from filtered to non filtered videos and photos, which is very useful for saving time when you are moving from outdoors to indoors. If you are shooting for an event like a wedding, those moments can be precious, so it helps that you don't have to waste time screwing off your ND filter. I opted for the ND 64/PL filter which fits my largest lens, the Sigma 16mm/F1.4. I initially thought that the UV filter attached to the screw-on ring would be an issue, but I have seen no degradation while shooting with the UV filter on, so I don't plan on taking it off. I read that Freewell is supposed to be releasing a standalone ring later with no glass. Until that happens, shooting with the UV filter on works for me. Also, the magnetic lens cap is a plus. You can even stack the cap on with the ND filter attached. While, this works to secure the cap in place without it falling off, I will say that attaching the magnetic lens cap directly to the UV ring creates a stronger magnetic bond. The magnetic jewel case is also very durable and should be great for protecting my filter when it is stored away in my camera bag. Overall, I am very impressed with this filter. It is so satisfying how the filter snaps into place. I'm looking forward to Freewell releasing magnetic step up rings. This filter will definitely be a staple in my everyday camera accessories and I would recommend this to any amateur or professional photographer/videographer. ... show more

  • I'm never screwing on another filter in my life
Size: 67MM Style: ND64
Any landscape photographer knows the struggle. The light is changing fast, and you need to switch lenses for a new composition. You scramble to screw your polarizer or ND filter off one lens to the other in time and before you know it the sun sets or a cloud moves in the way. The magnetic system is not a gimmick, it's a game changer, and saves tons of time messing with finnicky threads. I will never move back to screw on filters. These are well made, all metal construction, and optically good for the money based off independent comparisons and my own use. I have a 42MP full frame camera and still get tack sharp images using the polarizer or 6 stop/10 stop ND filters. I had some problems with some of the filters I ordered: The base magnetic ring was not included with one, and on the other it was not screwed in properly. After contacting freewell they immediately sent two brand new ones at no extra cost. Minor complaints: There is some vignetting at the edges at 17mm on a full frame camera, and the magnetic strength of the caps is stronger than the filters themselves, so if you have a cap on top of a filter sometimes you accidentally pull the filter off as well. ... show more

  • I want to like these…but
I want to like these filters for ease of use. Overall the filters do a decent job. The CPL filter does work, but at times I feel it should be better. I have seen no discernible color cast and feel that they don’t degrade the sharpness of my images. The magnetic feature is great, especially using the 10 stop. Easy to get focus and just pop the filter on. The filter caps are nice, but will pop off relatively easy. Definitely cannot walk around with the camera on a shoulder strap and have the cap stay on. It doesn’t even stay on with my camera inside my camera bag. ... show more

  • Great filters. Great concept. Wonder why others haven't thought of this before.
I love these filters. They are very thin and high quality. Still I have to do more testing to see how it affect the picture if any. However, my initial tests are very positive. It is so easy to carry these and attach to the lens. I hate screw in filters that takes time to fit to the lens even some of the best quality filters. However I have few requests to Freewell. 1. They should sell, those screw in base UV filters separately. I have like 5 lenses and I would like to keep the base UV filter screwed in all those lenses so I can use the main filters on all of them. 2. Some people do not like UV filters. So for those people they should make just the ring that screws into the front. 3. Magnetic step up rings ( they are working on it as I saw in the youtube ). 4. Variable ND. Having individual ND filters are good. But when you are working on situation where taking a filter and attaching is not an option or time consuming then Variable ND filters become very handy. True that it may affect the picture quality a tiny bit. But if polarpro can make really nice VND filters then I guess Freewell can do it too :) Overall, I definitely would recommend them for any photographer or videographer. I got CPL and ND1000/PL. They work very well and I know I would use them much more now. ... show more

  • Awesome and affordable filter system.
These are super easy to attach. ND filters come with a uv filter, magnetic caps, and either 1 or 2 (sorry can't remember) magnetic plate adapters (no glass if you don't want to use the uv filter). You can also stack filters and attach spare magnet adapters to a screw on filter case to store your filters magnetically. Really quick to change filters. I stuck a magnet to my camera bag and just stick my lens caps there while not in use. These are my number 2 accessory for photography, only second to the spider lite holster. Free well also sells magnetic filter adapters so you can use one filter size with any smaller lens diameter. Highly recommended for anyone who needs to get that damn filter on and off the camera easily, or has had enough with messing around with those stupid compression lens caps that never quite click in. My only annoyance with this product: only comes with one lens cap and caps are expensive ($20ish each I believe). They're just a piece of aluminum and a magnet, so I don't know why they're so expensive. I'd like to see free well either decrease the cost of caps, or give you at least 2 free when you buy a filter. Also some caps are black rimmed and some Sony's orange... Not sure why but the orange is cool and I only got one randomly. If I'm paying $20 I'd at least like to choose the orange ones... My set up: a6600 with 16-55 f2.8 sony g, and the sony 70-350. I use 67mm filters since no aps-c lenses are larger, but they do sell larger ones for full frame. ... show more
