    • Does Not Fit w/ Lens Hood - Sony 24-70 f2.8 II

First off, I'd like to say this is a neat kit. You have to use either the base VND glass or the mist glass and then put a VND over that glass to get the VND effect. If you flip the top glass, it turns into a CPL, so you're always ready to flip between video and photography as needed. Unless there's a clever trick I don't know about, VND and CPL cannot be used at the same time, so that's something to note. The magnet system works ok. It's not intuitive how to put the top glass on, so the 2-5 or 6-9 indicators line up. If you want to run and gun, this may get annoying. What's more of an issue is that the lens cap does not clip on securely enough and will certainly fall off in a backpack if the lens hood is not on. That brings me to the biggest issue. This system does not fit with the lens hood with the Sony 24-70 f2.8 II. I haven't tested with other lenses but I'd imagine there may be similar issues because this magnetic system sticks out quite a bit. Without the lens hood and with a weak magnetic attachment, I'm confident the cap will come off in my backpack and these filters will get scratched. I'm returning my order. ... show more

This ND filter is extremely versatile and easy to use. Lives up to the hype and does everything it is suppose to do. I have been really pleased with the results I have gotten with these filters. The magnets work extremely well, and makes it super easy to change filters. Great for run and gun shooting! I would have given this a 5 star review, but I some how have a small chip in the tint of my 6-9 VND. I assume this happened while putting on or taking off the filter. Hopefully this won't happen to the rest of the filters. I am pretty bummed about that! Otherwise, it's a great VND filter system to have. ... show more

This is a great system. You will find a lot of reviews online for this. I am using in a hybrid way (photo+vidéo). In this way there is a small problem. The base which must always be there looses you one stop. Not a problem for videos, one for photos. But ultimately not such a big deal for the versatility of the system. The pouch it is sold with is not so great even if it has been improved compare to the first version. It is also difficult to remove the cap from the magnetic filters. Both come together. The media could not be loaded. One of the best ND filter systems to date. No color shift or vignetting. The magnetic system makes switching filters a breeze. Hard stops at the minimum and maximum stops. So glad it came with the base mist filter also. Pros: ease of use, magnetic system, includes cpl-nd-mist options. Cons: sometimes when removing the cap/cover, the filter will come off with it since the magnet is pretty strong. ... show more

I have Freewell's other VND where you get a hard stops at each stop. This one only has hard stop at the extreme ends. This limitation is probably due to the magnetic design and doubling as a CP, but would've been a nice feature.
