This is a great system. You will find a lot of reviews online for this. I am using in a hybrid way (photo+vidéo). In this way there is a small problem. The base which must always be there looses you one stop. Not a problem for videos, one for photos. But ultimately not such a big deal for the versatility of the system. The pouch it is sold with is not so great even if it has been improved compare to the first version. It is also difficult to remove the cap from the magnetic filters. Both come together. That said the cap is welcome to protect the filters and the lens.

As you notice here’s 3 reasons why you should buy the Freewell Magnetic Filter Kit: - great quality, in my rank is in the top 3 on tge market and I can not decide the winner - practical as the magnetic feature is amazing and make’s the hole switching filter process quite fast and easy - is not the highest price in the market but is positioned between the best I personally bought the 82mm because using adjustable rings I can use it on my Sony camera or my iPhone.

The media could not be loaded. One of the best ND filter systems to date. No color shift or vignetting. The magnetic system makes switching filters a breeze. Hard stops at the minimum and maximum stops. So glad it came with the base mist filter also. Pros: ease of use, magnetic system, includes cpl-nd-mist options. Cons: sometimes when removing the cap/cover, the filter will come off with it since the magnet is pretty strong.

This ND filter is extremely versatile and easy to use. Lives up to the hype and does everything it is suppose to do. I have been really pleased with the results I have gotten with these filters. The magnets work extremely well, and makes it super easy to change filters. Great for run and gun shooting! I would have given this a 5 star review, but I some how have a small chip in the tint of my 6-9 VND. I assume this happened while putting on or taking off the filter. Hopefully this won't happen to the rest of the filters. I am pretty bummed about that! Otherwise, it's a great VND filter system to have.

I have Freewell's other VND where you get a hard stops at each stop. This one only has hard stop at the extreme ends. This limitation is probably due to the magnetic design and doubling as a CP, but would've been a nice feature. Still rating it 5 stars because it's easy and versatile and much more affordable than other systems.

Okay, so I was truly expecting to love this kit and I have tried to love it. However, I really don't like it after trying to use it for a while. I have been a photographer for 30 years and carry my camera everywhere. Having equipment that is versatile and good quality is important and this fits those needs, however the way it functions has pretty much removed the usefulness for me. So, the good points - the quality is great and the kit feels solid. The glass seems to be good and the quick change works as they describe. Having a CPL and NDV filter back to back (you just flip the filter around to use one or the other) is pretty neat. The filters do what they are meant to. It also installs well over other threaded filters so you can stack the kit or have a clear UV filter over the lens itself (the kit base filter is 1-stop down so you need more light for every shot than if you leave it off and you still want your lens protected if you do that). Now for what I don't like: ~ the magnetic feature is a pain when using the cover, it removes whatever filter is below unless you slide it off. ~ There is distinct vignetting at the corners when used on a 24mm lens. I was really not happy about that and might have selected a different size for one of my longer lenses had this been noted. ~In use carrying this around, the filter and cap were constantly getting bumped off the lens every time I set the camera down. I prefer to have something more secure on the front of my lens. ~I find I have difficulty manually focusing through the filters. Auto-focus is fine but I had a lot of missed focus when using these. ~The smooth shape of the filters make cleaning easy, but also mean when you have to slide the cap off eventually they are going to get scratched since you cannot just lift up on the cap. This design also doesn't give you anything to grip when installing or removing the filters and I have to be very careful not to get finger oils on the filter. ~The coating does not seem to repel dust very well, so I do find myself cleaning these frequently. All said, to me these were not worth the cost and I will not be continuing to use them which is a real shame considering the cost.
