  • Great cleat nailer. Professional quality
I bought this floor nailer to lay 5/8 stranded bamboo that has a janka rating 2800. As other customers have stated doing a couple practices will help ensure that you do not Top Nail flooring. Other than that once you get going it works really well. The only time I had partial nail/cleat downs where when I was along the wall and did not fully hit the plunger. Overall very well-constructed. I put a piece of tape along the bottom because the plate is made out of hard plastic and would pick up Grit and make small scratches. Great product and I would not hesitate recommending it to anyone that is planning on laying very hard flooring or bamboo. I had no problem getting it adjusted to the right depth for my flooring. I found it work best at about 85 psi on my 3 gallon Craftsman air compressor. ... show more

  • So-So Nailer
Solid design and nice mallet that comes with it. However have found some things that could be better. If the nails are loaded, make sure it is sitting flat on the floor when connecting the air supply. It has a habit of firing off a nail every once in a while. Have been using 2” cleats on my 3/4 oak flooring however at max PSI, it will still not flush hammering the nails. It leaves them up about 3/8” to which every nail I have to go back and use a regular hammer to drive the cleats down flush on the flooring tongue. Very annoying. Jammed nails do not happen very often. ... show more

  • Great nailer!!
I got this nailer to lay the Brazilian Cherry hardwood flooring in the photo. I also used the 18 ga Freeman L-cleats. Once I got used to how hard to strike the head, the nailer worked great. A few split tongues, but that is a common problem with Brazilian Cherry, and less splitting then with other nailers I have used. Nailer jammed twice for the floor shown, and easy to clear the jams with the provided hex wrenches. Jams were a nail issue anyway, and not the fault of the nailer. I bought the nailer "used" on Amazon, and it looked brand new. As a result the cost was the same as 3 days of a rental, and the flooring took me 5-6 days total, so definitely a win-win as I still have the nailer to use for my next job vs. a rental that would have cost more for the 5 days. ... show more

  • Good nail gun
I installed 2800 sq ft with this nail gun. I installed both bamboo and engineered hardwood. Overall it is a good gun, but the floor plate is to material that picks up and traps all sorts of materials that start scratching the floor as you install. I found if you put some masking tape on it seemed to help with scratching. The only other issue which may have been the flooring, but sometimes if would not drive a nail fully and you would have to finish with a nailset. Overall a good gun for the money. ... show more

  • Jammed after five hours of use
It was great while it was working however, it didn’t even make it through one day installing hardwood floors in my home.

  • Great Value!!!
This floor nailer worked great for my entire project. I had 1500 sq. ft. of hardwood flooring that I installed with only two misfires which were my errors not the fault of the tool. This is a great tool that was very easy to use. I can't imagine a more expensive tool would have performed any better.

  • Amazing for 1/2" Solid Strand-Woven Bamboo
This product is amazing! I used it to install 700 square feet of 1/2" solid strand-woven bamboo with 1 1/2" 18-gauge cleat nails. The only issue I experience was with the magazine, whether it was fully or halfway engaged the hopper spring would disengage and retract to the bottom of the sleeve. This occurred roughly ten times after I struck the hammer cap and the recoil activated the bypass leaver. This minor issue did not hinder my perspective or the overall performance of the product. Prior to this purchase, I rented a Powernail pneumatic 18-gauge hardwood cleat nailer and I 100% prefer the Freeman 16/18-gauge nailer. The Powernail misfired a lot, did not fit snugly on the tongue, left scratches on the floor and blew the hose off the connection a few times. The Freeman never misfired, fit very snug on the tongue and left no scratches. The Freeman mallet is great too because it has a blunt end that I used to tap the planks together. ... show more

  • There are better nailers to be had
I won't be listed as a "verified buyer" because this was purchased by my friend to install 900 sq. ft. of 3/4" solid maple tongue and groove. I did the install. Despite lubricating it frequently, this nailer jammed often. I would pay a bit more for one that didn't jam so much. Even though I torqued the mounting screws, the foot plate came loose on occasion, one time the protruding screw heads ruined a 12' run before it was noticed. ... show more
