I wore these pants to a watch a Patriots game in Massachusetts. It was raining and it was very cold in December. These pants kept me perfectly warm, they were comfortable, and they kept me dry after being rained on for hours. Additionally I loved the zipper pockets, this gave me comfort that my cellphone wasn’t going to fall out. I’ve been wanting a Sitka or first lite style stretchable pant for scouting and hunting but I didn’t want to spend north of $100. I’m a big guy 6-4 275 big rump, thighs, and calves. Street wear is usually 38x32 or 40x34 depending on cut of the pants. Needless to say, I don’t do “skinny jeans” I read some older reviews saying small fit and ordered the 42x31.5 hoping they would either fit perfectly or preferably be oversized to layer with poly or wool long johns. I got the latter. They fit and look great and I will be ordering the next size down to have a more firm fitting “athletic performance” fit. Very very satisfied. You know for all the junk chinese products sold on amazon, every once in a while you get a decent one. This is one of them. I wasnt expecting much, but i have to say these are quiet good. They fit spot on, they're surprisingly water resistant, theyre quiet comfortable, and the build appears pretty robust overall. I took them on a hunting trip to wyoming last week and bought them just as my around-camp-beaters, and they held up great. If i could change one thing on them it would be the thigh pockets. The "cool" angle they're attached at make them more like knee pockets, which is not too useful for anything other than small items. .But still, overall very impressed. These are a nice pair of hiking pants for those who want to use and abuse their pants in the wild. Not only are they a nice mix of stylish/affordable/quality, but they are also waterproof and durable. I wore them fishing and hiking and love them. See the different review categories below: Zippers: These pants have a solid, durable zipper that you can tug on and not feel like it is going to bind or rip. The zippers feel like they are made of quality material and you can really wrench on them to get them to close if you are in a bind and need to open your pocket to get a pair of pliers out while holding a fish in your other hand or close them up to keep something from falling out. No worries here. Material: The material feels like a softer neoprene to the touch. They are definitely waterproof and could even be coated for more reassurance. They don't seem like they would rip easily but might wear down with enough kneeling and scraping. They are affordable pants though, which warrants the material they are made of. What would you expect out of a pair of hiking pants, they can't be the best of all worlds. Fit: They are true to size and might feel a bit big when you get them, I thought the same thing. After wearing them in the cold I realized that they fit exactly like I would want them to, a touch bulky with enought room to move around in while also providing enough room for movability and enough material for warmth. They are exactly what I want them to be. Inner Material: The inner fleece feels nice on the skin. It isn't irritataing and glides while still maintaining warmth. Breathability: These pants BREATHE!!!!! Enough said. I wore them for 5 hours straight while fishing out in 59F weather and then feel asleep on the couch in them after coming home for a couple hours and didn't break a sweat once nor was I cold. Was worried about how they would look and feel the advertised picture not very appealing. I can assure you they do not look like that on. They have a nice stretch characteristic the fit was right on.     • "Big boy snow pants" work well for snow blowing and shoveling in cold and wind
Fit Type: Standard Size: 40W x 32L Color: Black
I live north of Buffalo, NY and we get our share of "lake effect" snow that requires regular use of my Honda 724 snow blower. I tried an Australian "dredger" coat, Gore Tex pants, Teflon coated 5:11 tactical pants and regular jeans and they are all too thin, are not wind resistant or leak. These Free Soldier pants are water and wind proof, heavier grade, insulated and have all zipper pockets to prevent snow fill. When it's snowing 2 inches an hour with 40mph winds, running a snow blower is a real adventure and these new snow pants have been very helpful to stay dry and warm. I could also see these pants being useful for outdoor sporting events like football games (post COVID). They run a bit long. I'm a 38 waist with a 32 inseam on most everything and the 32 inseam on these pants is about 2 inches too long. Hope that helps! ... show more

    • As others have noted, these just don't fit great in the thighs
I have 4-5 pairs of these Chinese "tactical / outdoor" style pants, a few from Free Soldier, like these. The cut of these pants is just not right. I got 36x34 and they do fit and not too much restriction around thighs, but the absolute reality is that these pants are too tight in the hips. They might still work for you and like I said I do have a few pairs of this type of pant. But I sized up in all of them, and that's the only way I could get them to fit in the hips. I'm talking about full leg mobility, not my ass hanging out of these. Too tight in the thighs / hips, and too baggy at the bottoms. But for under $50, can't really say much, what do you expect. These are OK but just not amazing or even great. 95% of my rating is about the fit / cut, ... show more
