First, just to be clear, I'm a woman (with wide terrible feet) reviewing a man's boot- & it's not my first time to wear men's footwear to best accommodate my hard to fit feet. And fyi, a women's size 8 (my normal size is 7.5-8 2W women's) is roughly a men's size 7, only the men's footwear is automatically wider without special sizing for width. I was surprised right off at how nicely these fit my feet, & how much they cushioned my steps with the proper arch support & flexibility in the soles. These feel sturdy & will protect your feet. Since they're a hiking boot, you want good traction & ankle support, & these provide that. I like the waterproof aspect too- you won't get far with wet feet, & while I no longer do much hiking, I've done plenty in the past. Many hiking boots are quite heavy, which can be tiresome to wear- these are "lightweight" for their size. The main thing I took off one star for is that the description (in one place) says they are "suede leather" which they are not- I know of no cows that can produce man-made materials- these are NOT "suede leather". And one more caution- I tried these out while wearing only lightweight socks (which are not what you'd normally hike in) & these boots fit a bit snug all over, so please keep that in mind when you select your size; you might do best to size up a half size, especially if you also plan to wear thick socks.

I am on my feet a lot at work and needed some nonslip shoes with ankle support. They fit great and are of good quality and comfort. They look way better than the last pair of “biscuits” I bought.

I do quite a lot of work on my house, and was in need of a pair of boots that I didn't have to worry about. When the task is messy, such as painting or coating the driveway, these fit the bill. They are fairly lightweight, but are very comfortable and supportive. Are they built as well as my $300 red-wing boots? Of course not. But for this price, these are a no-brainer for the peace of mind of not having to worry about. I recently wore these in a downpour while unloading construction materials for about 45 minutes. After stomping through many deep puddles, my feet remained dry. These sure serve a purpose and I am glad I got these.

Free Soldier makes quality boots. I have a few different versions of similar types of boots and they all are good quality. These particular hiking boots are light weight and comfortable. The upper material is soft against your foot and ankle. These are lighter than some of my work type boots which make them great for hiking. They are waterproof but breath surprisingly well. I'm guessing the waterproof is probably some kind of spray coating but no idea if that's correct. I got my typical size and the fit is good. I have a standard foot where I can wear off the rack normal width shoes 99% of the time. These were comfortable without any break in. Even after multiple 8-10 hour days in a row my feet were not sore like you get breaking in some brands of boots. The insole has a good amount of arch support and the bottom sole tread pattern grips well. The ones I got had zero quality issues, no loose stitching, no mis-aligned stitching. They look good and are comfortable. Highly recommend.
