I'm 6'1" and 230 lbs. I ordered the 38" waist with the 12" long inseam. They fit perfectly on me. I didn't even need to unbutton them or the belt, I just pulled them up. The material is exactly what I wanted; light weight, breathable and tough. The stitching seems good and the zippers are quality as well. The belt is pretty standard but quality. Yes. The belt can be easily removed just like any other belt so you can use your own or none at all. The button is the type that you push through a slit on the opposite side, which is MUCH sturdier than a snap style. Especially for shorts that will be potentially used for climbing or Hiking or whatever. There's a proper amount of pockets too. All of which are deep and not the useless shallow kind. The front cargo style pockets are flat faced for a slightly more dressed up look. This is actually good because they're nice enough looking that they can work with a nice button up and worn to a casual dinner or the like. At the same time you could've recently scaled up a hillside and tromped through a river bed then dried off and no one would be the wiser. Lol Frankly, I've been looking for this type of short that DIDN'T have the big diaper sized cargo pouch. Lol I wanted something a bit nicer but still utilitarian and these fit the bill perfectly. The 12" inseam is perfect for my height as well. I personally don't like the way shorts that sit above the knee look. These are also a slightly better looking cut to, so they don't billow out and leave you swimming in baggy short legs. They are a slimmer cut without being restrictive at all. All in all, these are the best casual, utilitarian Hiking style shorts I've found, especially for the money. I highly recommend them. ... show more

    • Great shorts with one “shortfall”

The media could not be loaded. Lightweight, dual zipper front thighs pockets that are great for the gym. Zipper top/side pockets will hold an iPhone 12 with easy. Good length for me and excellent fly zipper. Right and left hand non-zipper pockets are deep and generous. These are not traditional baggy “cargo shorts” with the bulging side pouches so you MIGHT be able to wear them to your private golf club - maybe. These are gym only for me. The only issue I have with these shorts are the 3 belt “tunnels” rather than traditional belt loops. There are 2 short tunnels on the sides and a long one across the back of the shorts. The problem is that it’s annoying to get a properly sized belt through the “tunnels” because they have an unstitched pocket at each end that holds the belt up. It’s annoying to lace a belt unless you leave the cheap POS belt that is included in the shorts all the time. I use nylon tactical belts that work great in every other gym short I wear - except these shorts. See the video for better clarity on what I’m talking about. Hope that helps! ... show more

I have been looking for a replacement for my Columbia shorts as I ordered a new replacement pair and they “changed “them, who knows why but they lost my business. So back to these shorts, after 10 minutes trying to open the “cool” belt buckle, so I could actually try on the shorts, it sort of fell apart and fell off the shorts and fell into the the trash. The shorts now wear a man’s brass belt buckle, works as designed 100 years ago. CAN YOUR DESIGNERS HEAR ME! The rest of the shorts are well made with deep hand pockets. I would prefer the cargo pockets be on side not on the front ANOTHER DESIGNER FLAW it’s ok to stay on the main road and improve without getting carried away completely crazy changes. ... show more

I've had these shorts for a while now and really enjoy them. I ordered them to take on a backpacking trip but have worn them quite a bit for just casual wear. I really like the feel and as someone who is on the taller side, I love the length. The material is a little stretchy so I feel like they are less likely to snag and rip on anything but it is a little slippery sometimes. I only really notice it if I'm sitting back in my office chair and haven't fallen out yet so it's not that big a deal. The pockets work well without being overly big with more material and it comes with a belt. The belt is pretty basic with a plastic buckle, but it works well enough and I've actually taken it off to use with another pair of pants. I prefer to leave it on since it's a bit of a pain to fit through the belt loops, but that also means it stays there securely and doesn't cause belt congestion (not a great description, but I'm not sure how else to explain it) on the pant itself. I ordered these because they were less expensive than a lot of other options but will likely order them again and have considered ordering long pants from the same brand. ... show more
