So this is a decent midrange pickleball paddle. I got quality play from it for four months. Surface bounce was consistent and it had a decent feel to it. It was a better paddle than the cheap Selkirk I learned on. I play 4-5 times a week so it lasted about sixty play sessions. The. On a relatively ordinary shot the handle snapped. It’s about a month outside the 90 day warranty. The “max” grit lasted less than half the sixty play sessions. At this points it’s smooth. Would I buy another one? Well I will contact Franklin and if they replace it and the replacement lasts longer…maybe. If they don’t or it doesn’t then no I would not. Update: Franklin replaced my broken paddle. The replacement has lasted 5 months. The “max grit” is now smooth as silk otherwise the paddle is performing well. ... show more

I tried many paddles at 2 local stores and really liked this Franklin paddle. It was a 13mm at the local store and fit perfectly. The 16mm didn't say the grip/handle was larger, per Amazon's description, and so I wanted to get the best possible, and so ordered it first in the 16mm. Turns out the grip size is bigger, and this info is available on the Franklin website. So I reordered and got the 13mm, this one, and LOVE it!!! I'm a female, 5'8" 135 lbs, age 59. My husband loves his new paddle too, same Franklin one in blue in 16mm. His hands are MUCH larger and fingers much longer than mine. I'd say 13mm perfect for most women and 16 mm perfect for most men. My husband is 6'1" 190 lbs. ... show more

The first one we revived was heavily used, but a replacement was immediately sent and it arrives the next morning. This paddle is a wonderful paddle at the sub $100 price point. It has great spin right off the bat, but I can tell that will fade over time because the gray is just an added surface texture, but for players learning for the first few months, I think this is the best paddle for the money. I just started playing pickleball and initially played with one of those other plastic 2 for $30 paddles but kept hitting the ball out of into the net because I couldn’t generate topspin. Definitely on the cheaper end for a beginner/intermediate paddle. However once I started using this paddle my game went up a notch. Definitely recommend if you’re on a budget! ... show more

    • Defective paddle handle, won’t warranty it

I really like this paddle for its balance between power and control. Very pleased with the size of the sweet spot. However, the spot I hit the ball most has lost its roughness/grit far to quickly!!! It is very disappointing about the grit. Other than that the durability of the paddle is quite good and the consistency is great as well. Update: with no signs of abuse of the paddle, just normal wear and tear over the past few months. The handle broke right at where the handle and hitting surface meet. This is similar to the old Joola Paddles (paddle defect) They have a three month warranty and Will NOT replace it!!!! I have since went to Selkirk and I had a paddle defect and they warranties! Easy watranty process of take photos to prove the paddle was not abused, then show the defective part. They sent me the new paddle and I returned the old one in an already paid labeled envelop. I have heard great things about Selkirk the quality and customer service. ... show more

I had the 13mm and the 16mm. The 13 lasted 7 months the 16mm 1 week. Theyn both broke at their core. They make a dull thud sound, the ball stops on it. The Max Grit wears off at max speed., Depending on how and how often one plays. For me, 3, 4 days, it's flat. The pros get a constant supply of new paddles each game, so they don't have these issues. And the paddle is a very good paddle when all things work. I enjoyed them both while they lasted. And they have an excellent price. But I wouldn't recommend them other than for a beginner player. ... show more
