All the paddle reviewers say this paddle is heavy and I've never seen one of these in the wild. I noticed that JW Johnson uses this paddle and he is considered to have the fastest hands in pro pickleball. So when this paddle went on sale I wanted to try it - if JW can have the fastest hands in pickleball while using this 'heavy' paddle then I figured maybe the reviewers were missing something with this paddle. IMO hand speed is as much about setting up the point and anticipation as it is raw paddle speed. After a few sessions I have gotten used to the weight and come to really like this paddle. The added weight makes this paddle very stable - I feel very confident handling hard drives with this paddle. I wouldn't say this paddle has a lot of pop. Spin and power are good. I would say the strength of this paddle is it's stability and forgiveness. If you're not afraid of a heavier paddle and don't want to spend $250 or more on a paddle that won't last I'd recommend trying this paddle.

I have only been playing pickle ball for a few months so I am far from an expert, but I have tried quite a few paddles, and this one was as good or better than many of the more expensive ones. I like the handle, it is longer so you can more easily hit two-hand shots if you like. The grip is also well done.

I’ve tried a lot of Paddles and this one is by far the best - It’s great for every aspect of the game - it gave me so much more control than anything I’ve used - I will be using Franklin paddles from now one - the thing I like most is most of the weight is by the handle of and it’s the first paddle that I didn’t regrip or put weights - it’s perfect right out of the wrapper

This paddle is a true one-piece construction paddle. This is pretty rare in the paddle world. I was seeing this paddle on tennis TV being used by the pros and decided to give it a spin. No complaints. Ton of pop.

Once King of the Pickleball Mountain, Franklin has been cannibalized by a sea of competitors who have advanced the technology and materials leaving Franklin to play a little catch up. With their latest FS Tour Series, Franklin plants itself firmly back amongst the top contenders of performance paddles. The FS Tour Series come in either traditional (Tempo line) or elongated (Dynasty Line) is available in 14mm or 16mm core, so most preferences are covered across the four different styles. I've put about 12 hours of actual match play on my Dynasty 14mm paddle and it has become my number 1 paddle. I have two other 14mm core Gen2 paddles and this one exceeds them in nearly every way (I do have one that has a bit more power, but only slightly). As for specifics, I'll begin with the T700 carbon fiber surface. The peel ply surface provides excellent spin and control, more so than any other Gen2 paddle, and certainly than any of my 12mm or 14mm core paddles. As for the core, the FS Tour Series has what they refer to as an "enhanced" polymer core. I don't know what the magic is behind "enhanced", but this is the best paddle I've used that combines spin, power and control. The grip is fantastic and has become my favorite grip. I typically don't like ribbed grips, but their raised finger inlays provide a contoured landing area for your fingers that, in my case, fits perfectly in my hand. Franklin also chose to go with a mid+ weight paddle. If you have any reservations, set them aside because the paddle feels well balance, has a comfortable swing weight and the additional weight has no negative impact whatsoever that I can detect, and I've had no issue with wrist or arm fatigue. For the record, the paddle I received weighed in at 8.47oz/240gr (before adding edge tape or grip overwrap), which is an ounce to a half ounce heavier than my other 14mm paddles. Aesthetics are great with minimal branding on the raw carbon fiber face ensuring it doesn't interfere with the striking (spinning) surface of the paddle. I opted for the gray paddle which looks more silverish than gray and is quite nice. Of course, I covered it with black edge tape, so mostly a moot point, but if you don't use edge tape, the gray is a nice look. As for the price, at $149.99 (at time of review) the Dynasty 14 easily plays up to the $250 paddles. This is the most control I've found out of this high a performance 14mm paddle and in a week, this has risen to be my daily paddle. I absolutely love this one.
