  • Stylish, truly multi focus, and comfortable!
Love these new Foster Grant Multifocus Glasses! After seeing these advertised on television, I decided to give them a try and they are wonderful! I am new to having to wear reading glasses - everyone jokes how it's a birthday gift around 50 years old yet it's no gift. While some of the glasses can be stylish, I find them to be annoying and uncomfortable. Annoying to take on and off and then have to carry them for the few minutes that I'll need them again - maybe just to read a menu. Uncomfortable because I don't need them most of the time so I end up putting them on my head and then they are just an uncomfortable headband. Well, these are different!!! Foster Grant Multifocus are a different kind of reading glass. 1. They are stylish. To be honest, I ordered 4 different style in order to choose which ones to buy for my husband and myself. I chose the Conan style and he chose the Sawyer style. All were stylish just each a bit different. 2. They are honestly multi focus so I don't need to take them on and off. For me the best part of this is to be able to type on my laptop, turn my head to read a piece of fine print on paper and then return to the computer screen to type. Ahhh! No more taking my glasses on and off again and again. I probably won't walk around in them yet that brings me to the next point. 3. They are comfortable. While the multifocus says that you can leave them on to be able to look straight ahead for distance, I didn't find this the most comfortable - while not blurry, it was just a bit straining. So...I put them up on my head. Wow! Foster Grant has wonderful spring arms so they are a very comfortable head band! yeah! While not the least expensive, I am very very happy with our new Foster Grant Multifocus glasses and will be buying more! I appreciate other purchasers' reviews and that is why I choose to write them now. Amazon reviews help me choose which products to buy. I sort product choices by Average Customer Review to help decide which item to choose. I didn't find a lot of reviews for Foster Grant Multifocus as they are quite new. I have found customer reviews to be very helpful and hope that I am paying it forward by providing this review. Thank you to Foster Grant for making this nice product and to Amazon for selling it and shipping it so quickly. I love Amazon! ... show more

  • Good value, great for reading and walking around the house
I mean, it's a $20 pair of glasses, so they get the job done. The building and materials are OK, not the finest of the finest, but they do get the job done and seem resistant enough. I like the gradual focus changes. My presbyopia is mild for now, so I bought the +1.0 grade and I can even wear them to walk around the house, unlike the ones with 1.0 magnification. They look good on me, and although they feel a little cheap, they don't feel too flimsy, so I expect them to last. I'll update if that changes. ... show more

  • Tons of glare!
The glare and reflections in these glasses are distracting. I can see my own eyes reflecting back at me. Not suitable for computer viewing. I also found that they fit a bit small for me. The build quality is good though.

  • Love/Hate these - the taller lenses are better Love/Hate these - the taller lenses are better
It's great Foster Grant provides multi-focus glasses at a reasonable price. I bought both the Wes and the Sawyer styles (both 1.75x) -- in the attached comparison photo, the Wes is on top, Sawyer on bottom. I have a square jaw and a wide square face, so wide rectangular glasses like the Sawyer look best on me. However there are a few problems with these glasses, and it's particularly bad on the Sawyer. I don't like the Wes style much because it doesn't match my face as well, but in usage it works better, for reasons described below. 1) The bottom band of magnification is very narrow, it's maybe 1/6 the height of the lens. Since the Sawyer lenses are narrow to start with, the full-strength magnification is in a tiny sliver at the bottom of the frame. I have to push the glasses high on my nose and tilt my head back to read anything in that band. The Wes is a lot better, because the taller lens has a taller band at the bottom, and the frame also has additional curvature at the bottom so it's easier to read through that area. 2) Something seems to be wrong with the lens coating on the Sawyer, so no matter how I try to wipe or clean the lenses I can't get them fully clean. Someone in another review mentioned that the ones at Walgreens are higher quality. Normally I would doubt that's true, but it would explain the difference between my glasses (I bought the Sawyer on Amazon, and the Wes at Walgreens)... so, heh, if I buy more of these glasses, I might avoid Amazon next time. 3) On both glasses, there's a circle with letters etched into both lenses. Looking at the glasses from the back, the left lens has the magnification value ("175" in my case), and the right lens has "FGX" which I assume stands for Foster Grant. On the Sawyer, this etching is very strong. It's probably not a problem for most people, but when I'm wearing them I actually see it -- it's a blurry spot on the side of my vision, and I keep thinking I needed to wipe a smudge off the lens. When I first got the glasses I didn't notice the etchings, I just thought it was a smudge, and it took a while to realize that Foster Grant ACTUALLY ETCHED SYMBOLS ON THE LENS YOU LOOK THROUGH. See the attached pics for detail. Overall I appreciate multi-focus glasses at a reasonable price but these frustrate me. ... show more

  • Low Quality Over-Priced
Nose pad fell apart after 50 days of light use. Not worth it, they're not very comfortable, feel "clunky" and zero flexibility. Costco readers 1/2 the price and much better.
