Description

Customize your audio with 3 inputs/outputs, high-pass filter (HPF), and tone controls. Included remote enables one-touch input switching & volume adjustment, while volume memory remembers personalized audio management. The ZP3 Balanced Preamp was developed in response to user demand for a preamplifier with multiple audio inputs. Bass/treble bypass, L/R balance. Per-input volume memory for smarter, personalized audio 3-in-3-out options make it easy to connect multiple audio sources for flexible listening experience Adapts to diverse audio scenarios by switching between different cut-off frequencies Easily connect 3 audio sources and switch inputs instantly and volume adjustment with the remote No compromise on materials, ensures low noise and accurate sound for a premium audio experience Easily adjust the volume, switch sources, and control the power on/off without leaving your seat Metallic texture, with enhanced resistance to electromagnetic interference No longer abstract, the excellence of sound quality is now visible. 1. Volume Memory: The ZP3 supports multiple input modes and offers a volume memory feature to enhance user experience. When switching between inputs with varying signal strengths, users often need to manually adjust the volume each time. The ZP3 automatically remembers the volume setting for each input mode, adjusting to the previous volume level when switched to the corresponding input. 2. HPF Adjustment: For the RCA/XLR output frequency range, the ZP3 supports high-pass filter (HPF) adjustment to filter out low-frequency signals, allowing only high-frequency signals to pass through. This ensures that high frequencies are delivered to the main speakers, while low frequencies are handled by the subwoofer. The HPF switch at the bottom of the ZP3 offers three adjustable cutoff frequencies, allowing users to fine-tune it based on their needs. 3. Bypass: When this feature is enabled, the signal bypasses the bass and treble adjustment. 4. 12V Trigger: It allows seamless power on/off synchronization with Fosi Audio ZD3 DAC and ZA3 amp, eliminating the need for separate device power management. FAQ: Q: One channel is louder than the other? A: Make sure the balance knob is centered on the ZP3 and the input signal is balanced between the two channels. Q: Can I switch between RCA and XLR output? A: No. RCA and XLR outputs work at the same time and cannot be switched independently. Q: Why is there no bass or the bass sounds weak? A: Check if the HPF switch on the bottom is set to 20Hz–20kHz to avoid filtering out low frequencies. Also check if the bass knob is set too low. • XLR, Multi inputs, HFP, Bypass, on a small compact device! No color added to tube preamp signal!
Super preamp with tons of inputs, but the main attractions for me are the two modes, HFP, and XLR! Besides the clean sounds, two options of tone character, I use the HPF to filter out the bass so I can use my subwoofer at the right frequency to fill it with a richer, clean, not muddy nor overwhelming low sounds while still delivering some punch a normal bookshelf speaker cannot. It makes such a big difference in managing inputs while not changing the warm sounds of the tube preamp I use. Ultra quiet, flexible, and compact. Easy to install and use. The only improvement I would suggest is to change the volume functionality as there is no clear indication of the volume level as the knob is rotates freely and there are no markings. Since I regulated all levels accross the chain and only adjust the volume on the tube preamp, it doesn't bother me that much. ... show more

  • If you’re on the fence, just look at this beautiful stack…
And just do your homework before using the ZP3 for the first time and everything will be just wonderful. The ZP3 is my little sonic traffic cop. It’s taking all the frequencies and directing them to all the right places. The high pass filters to integrate with a subwoofer is like 80% why I purchased this. Also I just love when things are matchy matchy and Fosi did a great job with designing the Z line to be modular and work super well with one another. I even noticed that the control knobs on the ZP3 line up perfectly with the outer edges of the ZD3/ZA3. I love these little aesthetic details! I believe I’m on a future proof track with this set up and it feels great! Also, the ZD3 does not provide an analog input so I needed something other than just the ZA3 to run my turntable. This does everything I need and looks great at the same time. I gotta thank all the reviewers for saving me the headache of the volume issues but I think it’s blown way out of proportion. Don’t get me wrong, I think they need to release a new one with a volume display but it’s not make or break imo. For my system, I’m just using the xlr for the zd3 and rca1 for my turntable. Pretty much every other source is digital. I keep the volume maxed on the xlr channel because my zd3 does fine with volume control. And I just know to be diligent and turn the volume slightly down before I switch off the rca input for my turntable. Most of the time, my source is digital from my laptop or tv but I do love to spin some records and I’ve had no speaker explosions when changing inputs so far. I mean, you’re already going through the trouble of listening to physical media with the analog source. I don’t mind paying a little attention to what my equipment is doing. If you’re on the fence and only use digital sources and don’t have interest in using a subwoofer, you could probably skip this and go for a passive preamp or volume attenuator but really, the ZD3 can handle all digital preamp duties on its own. If you want smooth analog integration and sub integration, get it. Now. You won’t regret it! ... show more

  • Nice build, good features
I have this preamp just over 3 weeks and I think for the price it is hard to beat. It's connected to a 3e audio A5 power amp used as a straight amp, Dali Oberon One speakers and SVS SB 1000 subwoofer. With the tone controls bypassed or enabled and set to the 12 o'clock position, this unit has no impact on sound, and is dead quiet on every input or output (xlr/rca). Subwoofer output works as it should. The high pass filter is not continuously variable but the 80 hz setting works perfectly. Build quality is very good for this price range as is the remote operation. The reason for the 1 star deduction is the weird implication of the volume control. The "feature" of the volume control is that it remembers the last volume level of the inputs. Sounds like a good idea...but no. There is no visual indication as to ANY volume setting and the volume knob rotates continuously in both directions with no indicator anywhere so you never really know how very loud, or low the music will be when powering up. I've learned to live with and manage it - but you shouldn't have to always pay special attention to a volume control. Overall, this is a real good unit that except for the volume implementation would be 5 stars. ... show more

  • Very Nice!
I bought this to replace an AVR that kept having problems. I use this system only for music, and the previous AVR was a fairly expensive one with a sub out and also pre-amp outs because I run an external amp. This was considerably less expensive than to buy another AVR of that level, and it does all I need it to do for this application. It has the sub and pre outs, and the XLR connections are a plus. And, it has the 12 volt trigger to turn the external amp on. Sound quality is excellent! If I had to suggest one thing, it would be to give more choices for sub crossover, but it had the one I wanted for this system. Remote works well. This should do just fine! ... show more

  • Fosi pre-amp does the trick to manage my mono blocks.
Someone made a big deal of the infinity volume knob. I don’t see the problem. Remote is cheap but works fine. I found it to be neutral in by-pass mode. When you engage tone controls, you get slight db boost but still pretty neutral. Dead silent. Tone controls work well; bypass works as it supposed to work. For the money, good pre-amp ... show more

  • TRASH!
Total piece of crap! Worked fine for a month. all the switches and knobs worked fine. But the output signal is virtually non-existent. All the wiring is correct and connections are good. Sonds like you're plugging in a TT with no pre-amp into the aux ports. Total waste of $$$. I will never look at anything made by Fosi again. ... show more

  • Bad right channel and poor support.
The right channel has really bad static noise coming through the speaker. I changed all my cables and connected a line filter for my power supply. Also purchased a new mono block amp just for that channel and it continues. The only time the static goes away is when I power off the pre amp. Hope they will warranty it. After contacting Fosi I have had nothing but a run around. I sent them an email detailing what I had already tried to test and determine the cause of the static. They sent me an email back asking me to do all the things I already detailed in my first email to them and asked for a video to hear what was happening. I sent the video and restated all the info already given. Now I get another email asking me to create another video. I have already spent more money on replacing cords and a power filter than the cost of buying a new ZP3. I am done with Fosi and will never purchase any more Fosi equipment and would suggest you stay away and go with more reliable company. UPDATE - Fosi contacted me and refunded my money for both the ZP3 and the ZA3 I purchased with it. I have to say they did attempt to make it right for me but I already purchased a new preamp from Emotiva and although I cost more I am very pleased with it. The ZP3 would only go so low and would stop getting lower and it was like you hit a mute button so was not good for low level listening but the Emotiva will fade out to listen as low level as you wish. I still cannot recommend this product but they definitely went above and beyond in refunding my money. ... show more

  • A bargain at this price
A great upgrade for those with older preamps or sound processing. You look at it and wonder how can this little item provide top quality sound but it does. That is, after all, the trajectory of audio technology. Think about the huge receivers of the 70's and 80's (if you're old enough) and the slimline preamps of today. The sound I get using a 90 wpc Parasound amp, bi-wired into Wharfedale Diamond 225 speakers is impressive. This preamp really brings out the background percussion and supporting instruments in a way my classic NAD doesn't. The dynamic range seems expanded, and the snap and attack of the music is evident. A few caveats: the volume control is less than ideal-a very steep curve and be sure to put it to minimum manually before first use. It goes up 2-3 db with just a touch on the remote so a word to the wise. Also. there are no digital inputs so you need an outboard DAC if you have any digital sources. It does have a sub output port and two RCA analog inputs. It also has a balanced input and output. The spec sheet, interestingly, lists the balanced ports as slightly less S/N ratio and slightly less output. Never seen that before. Last, the orange volume knob was visually slightly off-putting to me so I cut out a circle on some flat black cardstock and, using acid-free glue, applied it and it looks fine from the distance I sit, which is about 10 feet. A YouTube audio commenter from Serbia recommended this and that and the very moderate price told me this was a no-brainer. Very glad I took his advice. ... show more
