  • Great for the Price and General Listening. Doesn't come close to my Yamaha.
This is not a bad amp by no means but it doesn't replace an 800 dollar amplifier. Does this have big sound like a full sized stereo? Yes, mostly it does. However, I wouldn't trust it to drive super big speakers, some 3-way speaker where the speaker has an 8" woofer in it would be its safe limit. This amplifier should definitely not be over-driven and I wouldn't go over the "75" volume limit if you plan to keep it for years. "75" volume limit out of a 100 is roughly 75-80 watts @ 6 ohms which is plenty for general to loud but not crazy loud listening. This amplifier uses Texas Instruments Class D amp chips which are very good. These are not audiophile but they do a fantastic job for what they are and Texas Instruments makes some of the most rugged chips. The best use case is for an apartment for those that want big sound but aren't going to push more than 65w per channel out of it with a 100-150 watt sub to go with it. Now for most people this is way more than enough in this setting. This will provide plenty of better than average sound and still a bit over the limit enough to make neighbors more than unhappy with you. This is really a great amp for those that want good sound but aren't quite an audiophile. I'm closer to the audiophile side but not deep in it. The chassis is all metal the biggest weak point is the remote. The remote does have special abilities that aren't directly on the unit and since this is a cheap Chinese amplifier if you lose the remote you are screwed and likely to never find a replacement. I STRONGLY recommend having a cheap "learning remote" and put all the commands into that and putting away the original remote. I would recommend the following: URC7935 This remote can be found on Amazon and will learn from any remote. The Bluetooth is okay in a pinch but I certainly wasn't wowed by it. It sound off and compressed but this was in SBC which is great anyhow but I have another Bluetooth DAC receiver that makes SBC sound pretty good but its working miracles with nothing and I spent 120 bucks for it alone. I couldn't get it in aptX mode so that may be a redeeming for it but haven't tested it, as stated. Now the THD or Total Harmonic Distortion, which in audio is important. This product is making very bold claims that clearly don't hold water. This amp claims .01 THD and that's a very good laugh, do not expect it to be that good. This might be true at 2 watts a channel but most are going to be pushing 25-45 watts a channel for normal listening so you are actually looking at a THD of roughly .05-.07 THD which is okay but not too good. Most higher-end amps are .015-.03 THD at nearly max volume. However, for most people this isn't going to be an issue. People may start to notice it when pushing it at the volumes top end which is going over that 80 watts per channel mark at 6 ohms. audio stutters and dropouts will start to occur, as well as other audio artifacts. Bass will start dropping out and clipping at the top-end. Treat this amp for what it is. This is a very good general amp for general full sound listening at low to loud but not crazy loud listening with 80 watts a channel is more than enough for jamming out listening, especially with a sub. The amp is designed for 100 watts @ 6 ohms and as stated cut 20 percent of that and that's what you can truly get without harming the amp or distorting. This does have safeties build for over heating but if it trips that is still not okay because damage could still occur to the amp even if it tripped off for safety. Just be reasonable and this amp will last for many years to come. If you give it to a 15 year old boy it will be lucky to last a year. ***Update***Update***Update***Update***Update 1/26/2023 I have gotten around to playing with this amplifier a bit more. Here's some getting started tips and so info on tid-bits i have learn from using for some time. First right after hooking this amplifier up turn off the "loudness as it make it sound too bassy and bloated to the point it interferes with voices. The "Loudness" feature is useless. Next hold the "Display" button till you see on the "L-Gain" and tap the "Display" button again and change it to "H-Gain". Changing this will give you more sound per watt and sound much closer to its rated 120w per channel or 80 usable watts @ 6ohms. This product claims it is a digital amplifier. Their is no such thing as a "Digital Amplifier". In an amp all digital signals are converted to analog right before it hits the amplifier chip. The amplifier is NOT digital, it is analog. Lastly. the Bluetooth does support up to aptX-HD for Bluetooth, I was hoping it did, so the bluetooth is better than average if it is used in the aptX-HD mode for bluetooth. ... show more

  • Great little amp
I've used this amp for a few months for TV speakers and it has worked well. The sub out is handy and the sound quality is great. The only issue I have had in the last 4 months or so is that it has locked up twice. The sound and controls stop working. I simply have to unplug it and plug it back in. I also keep it on 24/7... Other than that it's been great. ... show more

  • A decent small amp
I'm using the Bluetooth-capable DA2120C amp w/remote to provide audio for an older generation LED TV, thru an old pair of 100 watt 2-way JBL studio speakers that were going unused. The input source for the TV is streaming video from a Fire TV Stick 4K Max. And given the outdated TV audio H/W and S/W, connecting the amp directly to the Fire TV Stick via Bluetooth was the simplest and best choice. Neither the Fire Stick remote or my cell phone can really control the amp, but either can raise or lower the speaker sound level by adjusting the sound level output into the amp. So, to get the max possible volume from the speakers, the volume on either the Fire TV Stick or cell phone would first have to be set to the max. But with both the Fire TV Stick (or cell phone) and amp sound levels set in their mid-ranges, I have far more volume than I need for living room TV viewing, or listening to music from my cell phone. I haven't noticed any distortion, interruptions, or background noises over the Bluetooth connection with either the Fire TV Stick, or my cell phone. The amp is located within 1 ft. of the Fire TV Stick, and the audio comes thru without any noticeable loss of sync with the video (without any AV sync adjustment in the Fire TV Stick control menu). I'm no audio expert, but the built-in EQ mode choices and separate bass/treble controls provide more than adequate sound options as far as I'm concerned. The studio speakers give all the bass I want or need, so no need for the subwoofer option. There's no R/L speaker control, but that's not an issue for TV or music in my living room setup. So far, this unit is working up to my best expectations. All that said, the boxed amp was delivered in one of Amazon's unpadded plastic bags, with no special handling labels or statement of electronic equipment enclosed. Which seemed grossly inadequate, given the nature of the equipment. The box showed evidence of some pretty rough handling - including a significant puncture. But fortunately, the box itself was substantial, and had decent internal custom foam padding for the amp. While the unit was clearly drop/shock-tested numerous times during delivery, there was no external damage to the amp, and it seems to be working perfectly. ... show more

  • Sounds Great poor quality
This little DAC sounded great and truly the only thing it was missing to be perfect was a line out. The reason for one star is because the sub out rca became very lose shortly after the return period. I had heard Fosi customer support was awesome so I reached out to them. They were quick to respond and asked for a video of the issue which I complied. They then asked if I could solder it back to which I replied I don’t have the tools nor did I know how to solder. Really, I buy a new unit and it has a 18month warranty and you want me to solder it back together. They eventually told me they were shipping me a replacement which I received within 8 days. I opened the box to find a used unit that was half hazard thrown into a spare Fosi box they had laying around. Since the box was not for this specific dac it bounced all around inside the box during shipping. I know this because the foam was all torn up from it bouncing and sliding around. I haven’t bothered to see if it even works yet as I am so disappointed. I bought this dac based off the cheap audio man’s review. While the dac sounded great the quality and customer service sucked. They were fast to respond but failed to deliver. I’m going to sell at half price and buy a better quality dac. ... show more

  • One glitch. Otherwise great
I have nice speakers and subwoofers left over from several legacy amp system that burnt out. All brands burnt out within a year... So I was looking for something relatively economical to power my legacy speakers and sub. This unit has done that nicely. Something stopped working and no sound came out one night, but I just unplugged everything overnight after not being able to troubleshoot it, and everything was working fine the next morning. I can't be sure if it was this amp or cable box responsible for that glitch. It definitely started because the remote RF signal interferes with my Roku TV remote signal. The amplification is enough to fill a small bedroom, and the tone is nice. However, the loudness feature makes for clunky bass. ... show more

  • DA-2120c = Power, Simplicity and Value
I recently decided to stream audio from my computer and television to my old Infinity bookshelf speakers. My old receiver had given up the ghost, and I was trying to build the system on a budget. I also wanted to be able to use Bluetooth to stream audio to the system. I knew that I needed a DAC as well. After much research, I decided on the Fosi Audio DA-2120c. The first photo shows the box as I received it. It was sturdy and undamaged inside the Amazon outer box. The second photo shows the opened box. The unit was well protected by closed cell foam padding. The unit comes with a power supply, a 2 ft. optical cable and a usb computer cable. The included instructions appear to be translated directly from Chinese, and are a bit confusing. The print is also very small, hence the readers next to the unit in the fourth picture. Fortunately, connecting the unit and placing it into operation are fairly straightforward. All functions can be controlled by either the two knobs on the front of the unit, or by the supplied remote. The left knob controls inputs: Bluetooth (BT), Aux, Coax, USB and Optical. Holding it down for 3 seconds also powers the unit on and off. The right knob controls volume. A quick press mutes and un-mutes the unit. Holding the knob down for three seconds cycles the unit through the various equalizer modes. I find using the remote for all functions much easier. The LED display is easy to read and relays the input in use, signal frequency in Kilohertz (KHZ), equalizer mode, and volume. The DISPLAY button on the remote turns the display on or off. To stream from my television, I purchased an Avantree Oasis plus. Pairing it to the DA-2120c was easy, but there is no indication on the amp that it is paired. The only indication that it paired came from the Avantree unit. The speaker connections on the back of the unit will accept either bare wire or banana plug speaker wire. I am utilizing the RCA connections and optical input as well as blue tooth for bringing in the audio. After unboxing the unit, making the connections and pairing the bluetooth took about 15 minutes. I was able to figure out most all of the functions and the best EQ settings by just cycling through the different buttons on the remote. I think that I may have consulted the instruction manual to identify a button on the remote. After making all the connections and powering up the unit, I played movies as well as music from both a streaming service and directly from my computer through the optical input. I was very pleased by the sound quality and the ample power of the amp. Running the unit at normal volume levels does not produce any detectable heat from the unit. Cranking it up got it a little warm, but it never got hot. All in all, I am very happy that I chose this unit. It had all of the features that I wanted in a compact and affordable package. It seems well built and and feels solid. Hopefully, it will stand the test of time. I will let you know as I intend to update this review after a few months of use. ... show more

  • Works very well.
I needed a small audio amplifier to power two passive Yamaha speakers, 10", 10-140w since I had gotten rid of my old Pioneer receiver/amp but not the speakers. I needed this for my older Sony XBR2 TV for improved sound over the internal speakers and wanted a small, powerful amplifier that had a remote. The Fosi DA 2120C arrived in perfect condition, was easy to hook up with RCA jacks from the TV. The sound was great and the remote worked well to adjust bass and treble with and without the Loudness function to get it sounding the way I wanted. I decided to use the optical cable that came with the unit to further improve the sound, however it did not work. I contacted Fosi by email and they responded quickly. we tried several things but could not get it to work. Trying the amp with optical cable on another TV did work very well using the optical input on the amp. After much research I found that Sony XBR2 and XBR3 TVs will produce digital output through the audio optical out only if the TV receives the signal through the Coaxial, (Cable) input, not with HDMI, so the problem was not with the Fosi Amp but with my TV. The reason I did not use the cable input to the TV was because, not being a smart TV and not wanting to rent another cable box, I had purchased a Google Chromecast TV to get reception. It works great but can only hook to the TV via HDMI. I found that I could work around this problem if I purchased a HDMI to HDMI + Optical adaptor for around $25, but since I was only using 2-chanel stereo vs 5.1, I decided not to go any further. It sounds great using the RCA output from the TV. I easily paired my cell phone to the Blue Tooth of the amp and it played music with excellent quality. You can power on/off and change input and volume on the amplifier or with the remote. Tone setting are done with the remote. There is no balance control, being the only thing missing. I had an unusual issue that most people won't have. Bottom line is that the Fose DA2120C is a great little amp and if you have any issues in getting it to work with your system, the Fosi support is very responsive and they seem determined to make things right. ... show more

  • Works for me...
I like to listen to music, but I'm not willing to spend a month's wages on an "audiophile" stereo. I needed a small form-factor amp that could drive speakers in four rooms of my house through a passive speaker selector and could nest in a 13" wide cubby in my bookcase. This is literally the only one I could find that was small and had enough power, even if I wanted to go with something in the $600 range. I wanted to hook up my wife's iPod Touch 2nd generation via her old Kensington "line-out" dock into the RCA "line-in" on this amp. I was hoping to be able to use a simple multi-disc reader (Blue Ray player) via digital coaxial cable into the amp and take advantage of the built in DAC. I contacted the seller about my speaker setup and the specs on the DAC and they replied promptly. This is NOT a well known DAC chipset, but I decided to take a chance on it. After sending back the first unit due to volume control problems (thank you Amazon Prime), I hooked everything up and...it's powerful but the DAC sounds thin and ringing in the higher registers to my ears. Abandoning my idea of a compact, bare-bones setup that would unobtrusively nest in a book case, I opted to buy a Yamaha CD S300BL CD player. It's a regular 17"+ consumer electronics format that has to sit on top of my bookcase. It has a Burr Brown DAC and allows me to connect my wife's iPod digitally to the player to take advantage of the Burr Brown DAC rather than the micro DAC on the iPod. It's not unobtrusive, but HOLY COW the Yamaha CD with this amp now sounds great and has lots of power. So, if you're looking for a powerful small form-factor amp this is for you. If you want something to stream or connect digitally and utilize the amp's built in DAC be prepared for a low-fi sound quality. It's unfortunate that Fosi Audio cut corners on the DAC chipset and filter circuitry. DAC chips, even the great ones are not that expensive. If they had put more into that, even at a higher price, the DA1210C would be an amazing amp. I mean AMAZING!!! As it is, most of it's digital capabilities add up to poor sound quality so you're paying for something you can't utilize to it's full extent. If you're used to listening to music on your computer speakers, this will be an improvement. If you've ever had a reasonably good stereo, you will only want to use the analog RCA "line-in" hook up and either buy an external DAC or a player that has a good quality internal DAC like the Yamaha S300BL. Too bad. This baby was almost perfect... ... show more

As other reviews say this is not a bad amp for the price. If you have a Roku TCL TV the remote shares some commands and it will conflict with your Rocu TV. It is very misleading to state that this is a 240 watts amp into 4ohm speakers when the power supply included is a 32volts x 5amp = 160watts. I contacted the manufacture and requested what should be included a 36v x 10amp = 240watts power supply and was told they did not sell or provide it and would need to find on my own. • Fantastic with Bluetooth and Sony speakers. Comparison with smaller BT20A model.
The DA2120C amp is perfect for streaming Spotify or Youtube to a pair of Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers. The DA2120C delivers 100W per channel at 6 ohms, exactly what the Sony speakers require. The results are spectacular. It sounds like the musicians are in the room. I previously tried Fosi's highly regarded, smaller, BT20A amp. For smaller 2-way desktop speakers, the BT20A amp is fine. For these Sony 3-way speakers, the BT20A failed miserably. My 5-inch woofers just went on strike. Treble was perfect, but bass was absent. Fosi claims that the BT20A is almost (80%) as powerful as the DA2120C, but that doesn't seem likely. The BT20A uses an amplifier chip that is rated at 50W per channel, not 100W as Fosi claims. Shame on Fosi's marketing department for the inflating the BT20A specs. Just be honest to help customers choose the appropriate product the first time. The DA2120C model pairs beautifully with Sony's line of 6 ohm speakers for streaming from my phone. The neutral settings sound great to me. There's a remote control with several equalizer presets that I don't use. The volume knob is nice, but I never use it. I use the volume button on my phone. I haven't tried any of the non-Bluetooth inputs (RCA, USB, optical) yet. ... show more

  • Very nice! All the power and features I wanted in a compact package. Perfect!!
I had the little brother of this amp (the DA2120A) and really loved it! But, I'm running the Micca RB42's and they are quite inefficient. Really, even that combo is more than enough for desktop use. You will not be disappointed with that combo! I was wanting a bit more power, so I upgraded to the Fosi 120W amp! This amp is the big brother to the DA2120A with a slightly larger package and much more power. It's a fantastic piece of equipment at easily double the cost. I haven't tried the bluetooth input as I'm running USB from my PC. If you have more efficient speakers, the little brother of this at 50 wpc is plenty. If you have anything under 87db, I would recommend this guy. I own some very high end audio equipment (system approx $10,000) and consider myself at least an amateur audiophile. Currently, I'm full timing in an RV so space is at a premium. This Fosi DAC/Amp with the Micca RB42's and a low profile Dayton 10" powered sub make for a super compact but incredible sounding 2.1 system for music or movies. I'm running mostly 320k Mp3 music at 24bit 192KHz and it sounds really, really nice. I can't really speak to imaging or other more subjective qualities of the amp as I'm in a sub-optimal space to evaluate that. Distortion is low, it looks beautiful on the desk and it's totally packed with options. I love this amp! Even the remote is great. It's just plastic but it does exactly what I need it to. I returned the first DA2020C as defective because I had no sound output at 192KHz from my PC USB. The second one was the same. I run both Window 10 and Linux and both had the issue. I finally played with my settings enough and it started working. I'm wondering if having the little brother of this amp running at first caused some kind of driver confusion when this was plugged in. I'm not sure. But, I am sure that the seller was very helpful, offering clear and useful advice on possible ways to resolve the problem. The excellent support makes this amp even more of an easy choice! ... show more

  • Perfect For The Patio
I needed a small amp for our patio, one that allowed for Bluetooth connections and a remote to control volume so I chose this. Great decision! It has plenty of power to push a pair of Klipsch KIO-650 outdoor speakers! Tonal controls include bass/treble and some basic preconfigured EQ settings. The optical input is a really nice feature as that is how I have the TV connected. The remote is simple (batteries not included, grab 2ea. "AAA" somewhere) and has a button to turn off the display which is a nice feature to have at night as it is really bright. My only complaint would be that changing EQ settings is delayed. I know, there's things that could be worse. Bluetooth connectivity blew my mind with this amp! I connected my phone to it, turned on some tunes, and then went walking around the yard to see how far it would stay connected. I was at least 75 feet away from it, and it was STILL CONNECTED!! I can go back in to my house and walk anywhere and it never loses connection!! And when I turn the amp on, it automatically connects to my phone so there's no need to pair to it again. I have to give a big thumbs up to Amazon! When I received the amp, one of the speaker connectors didn't work, I had to wiggle the banana clip to get the right speaker to work, and it still would cut out. Amazon promptly sent a replace and the replacement has performed flawlessly! ... show more

  • So far, so good
I'm using this to drive a couple of bookshelf speakers (Elac Debut B6.2) for my TV, rather than listen to the tinny built-in TV speakers. Setup went smoothly. I've seen comments on the 2120A model that the speaker connectors were too close together, but that doesn't seem to be an issue on the 2120C. The Good: It's very slim It works well Reasonably clean interface (though I haven't tried to change the settings yet) Nice, sharp, readable display If necessary it can get very loud with those speakers. The Maybe: I haven't done any side-by-side listening comparisons against other amps, but the sound seems good to me. I couldn't get the optical connection to work with my TV, though I'm really not sure if the problem is the Fosi unit, the cable, the TV, or me. For my use, this isn't critical and the analog audio connection is working just fine. The Odd: Some of the buttons on the Fosi remote use the same command codes as some of my TCL TV's functions. Specifically, if I'm using the Roku Media Player on the TV, then the down-volume button on the Fosi remote makes the Roku Media Player app scroll through its options. And at least once, the power button on the Fosi remote turned off the TV. I don't think this is going to be a problem, just an odd quirk. The Bad: Nothing actually bad so far. It seems a little pricey compared to some of the other small Class D amps out there, and I wish it would play MP3s directly, so I knocked a star off. But it's a good little unit, and I'm glad I bought it. ... show more

This is my second purchase from Fosi, and so far I'm happy with the product. I previouly bought the smaller 50 watt version for use in the garage - it pairs with phones easily and quickly and has good BT range. When my old 1990s receiver finally gave up, I needed something new for music in the office. I wanted a smaller package than a full-blown receiver, BT, and aux inputs for Amazon Echo and my PC. It also needed to drive my advent full size tower speakers without distorting. The DA2120C does the job quite well and sounds good. I know it's not audiophile quality, and probably won'receiver, years like my Pioneer reciever, but that isn't what I was buying. I used to sell audio gear in a previous life and have even done amp design, so I know the tricks that are played with specs. 240 watts or not, bottom line is that this drives two 6ohm towers at volume levels well above what I would normally listen too without distorting. Mission accomplished. ... show more
