  • Nice Setup for recording
I purchased this to get back into recording. I had read the reviews and knew that this bundle no longer comes with Pro Tools. Albeton seems pretty good though. I'm using software I already had and it works perfectly with it. I had a mic hum when I first got it. I Google the issue and fiddled with the head unit and the hum went away and has not returned. All the components seem to work very well but I love the Scarlett it's simple, well built and easy to use. So far I've used the microphone and inputs for keyboard and guitar and very pleased with the value and quality of this bundle. ... show more

  • A great bundle!
First off, there is a reason why focusrite scarlett is the most used interface, it is just great. The packed in mic is very nice, the mic stand works well, and the pop filter is a nice inclusion to help mic recordings sound better. The headphones in the kit are the weak point of this product, they are ok but they are just brand generic headphones with the focusrite logo slapped on. The headphones also can be somewhat uncomfortable as well. The interface of course is amazing because of how easy it is to use and of how good the recordings are. The included software, Pro Tools First, is very good, but I prefer to use audacity as my main recording software, but pro tools is still amazing. Overall, every part of this kit is amazing quality, except the headphones. ... show more

  • Great system
Being new to audio recording systems this is the perfect choice. I’ve noticed it’s a respected brand/system in the industry, as it’s referenced often as being a good one to have. In fact, it was relatively simple to connect and get started. (If only it came with a tutorial about editing and mastering audiobook files. That’s a whole other story. But at least, while I learn how to do that, this system perf a well. Also, all the components seem to be well-made. ... show more

  • Not just good... it's perfect
Originally purchased for my daughter's continued online music lessons thanks to COVID-19, I spent some time recording some samples of my own. First, this took a whopping 17 minutes from unpacking, booting the laptop and setting it up in Garage Band, Logic and even in Audacity on my Linux laptop. Second, we tried it over some online meeting software with her music teachers (voice & piano) and there was so little lag that they were able to play and sing together live. With the audio hooked directly in and the quality of the equipment the sound on both sides was perfect and we were able to record the lessons easily. Third, I just sold away my 2 other mixers. The audio quality coming from this blew away my old equipment that I had purchased for $500 not too long ago. I had absolutely zero issues and had an increase in the quality of the input that resulted in better production output. I'm absolutely blown away, especially for the price. The mic isn't bad, but it's not top quality. Most people getting started in music won't notice a difference and it's perfect for a home studio. The quality is great, but it's an easy upgrade to another microphone later if you ever outgrow it. I'm recommending this to absolutely everyone I know and the audio samples I sent to some friends in a professional orchestra already ordered some for home and on-the-go. ... show more

  • Great interface
I marked "tech-support" as a 2 because I'm giving them the benefit-of-doubt that their tech-support is at least decent for windows/mac-users. I'm a linux-user, and they don't offer ANY linux support... that's not really a very big deal since we linux-users tend to be pretty accustomed to being our own tech-support anyway, or knowing where to find help online for various issues/equipment -- but even though I wouldn't likely need or use any tech-support, I'm sure not going to mark them UP for NOT offering it. The 2i2 itself is great, and it DOES work flawlessly under linux without any issues (warning: that's for the 2i2, not necessarily any other Focusrite/Scarlett products/models. From what I've heard/read, some of the other models only partially work because some of their features are only accessible through windows/mac software-interfaces) So I have no complaints about the interface at all. The headphones are great as well -- probably among some of the best I've ever owned, but I don't do pro-level studio stuff, so there's that. They're worlds above any of the regular middle-of-road "perfectly adequate" headphones I'm used to. I've seen some folks say they're a bit small, but they cover my ears completely. They get a little hot after wearing them for awhile. Mic seems to be of good quality too, but also something I don't have any real experience with the "pro-studio-quality" ones. It's a bit sensitive for where/how my setup is. The shock-mount is nice. The pop-filter -- "Meh" -- It's a pop-filter. It does what it does, I guess... but due to my setup with the mic, it's hard to say how WELL it does it. My only real complaint is the boom-arm. It's junk. Weak. Springs on it aren't strong enough for the weight of the microphone, and the tension isn't adjustable. Would probably work OK with a lighter mic, but considering that its whole purpose is to be a mic-boom, bundled together with a mic, it really should be up to the task of working well with THAT particular mic. As it is, I'm going to have to buy a different boom that IS sturdy/strong enough for the included mic, which is kind of disappointing. I might still be able to use the bundled one for something else... maybe put a bracket on it to hold a small camera, but still... not much sense in including it at all if it can't perform its expected function with the other equipment. All in all, the whole thing as a bundle? I rate it 4 stars because there's really only the one complaint and I'm more than happy with the rest for the price. I'd recommend shopping around a bit, though -- it'd probably be better to buy the interface without all the "extras" and get them separately. Then you could be as particular as you wanted about the headphones and/or mic if you're more well-versed in that stuff than I am. You'd almost definitely wind up paying more than this bundle cost, but you've got a better shot at getting exactly what you want -- and besides, I'm going to end up having to spend more anyway, in order to buy a boom that isn't junk. ... show more
