I bought this net as upgrade from a smaller one I had been using for trout fishing. I am very pleased with it. However it needs a way to lock the handle in position. It has a knob that hand tightens the handle, but you need to retighten it periodically because it will loosen as you use it. Otherwise a great purchase

I fish from my kayak as often as I can. As such, I needed a small net that stores easily. This is the perfect size for me. With the handle fold, the built in cord to secure it and the floating it fits my needs perfectly. I don't need to lift fish as high as you would on a traditional boat, and I don't need a longer handle. This is a somewhat lightweight net, but for the average size fish I catch, and the ability to net with almost no lifting out of the water I need nothing else.

So, I just picked up this Black Paw floating fishing net and it seems like a really good product. The net is good sized (net loop is about 15" long) for the fishing that I do, but folds compact (in-half) for transporting and it is very light. It's black and orange and looks pretty good. It has an aluminum handle (instead of plastic) that twists to lock and unlock the hinge that allows it to change angles or fold up. The mesh net is coated in black & orange rubber so it should be easier to clean and keep odors away. It also has a ruler "strap" sewn into it which goes from 0-14" towards the handle, and an additional 0-14" towards the tip of the net, with the "0" mark being dead center in the bottom of the net (there are no pink and blue lines, like in the advertisement photo of the net, that run on both sides of the ruler strip). The net floats and comes with a lanyard in case you drop it. It also comes with a clip (like a belt clip) for hanging on things. All in all, I am happy with the net and am looking forward to taking it out on my next fishing trip. Hope this helps you!

The net is light weight, works well. Only thing is it takes a bit to get use to to expand it. Wish that was a bit easier maybe a button extention? I'm not sure.

Anything that saves space when finishing in a canoe is a plus. Especially when you're like my husband and take 47 (not exactly) rods. He said the net worked great. He was able to put it behind the seat when he was headed out to THE spot. He took it out and opened it when he started fishing so it would be ready for that big one. He thinks the measurements on the ruler must be off though. He swears that fish was longer than 3 inches. Once he caught them all, he folded the net and stowed it behind the seat again. The net worked great. The fish stories need a little work.
