I searched and researched for months looking for the right standing desk and finally decided on the FlexiSpot 55" EC5 3 Stages Dual Motor Electric Standing Desk and it does not disappoint. First off, I thought the size was a little unusual, but it turned out to be the happy medium between the 70"+ desks and the 40" ones. The desk top is a single, sturdy piece with a nicely textured, slightly glossy top, mine is the black lightly-textured surface. I am most pleased with the assembly, motors and controller and their customer support. It took me 90 minutes from opening the box to raising and lowering the desk! All the necessary pieces were included as well as a few extra pieces just in case. The also provided some hardware for cable management. The pieces all fit together well and the instructions were clear enough, the most difficult part is the weight of the leg/motor assemblies (this is a good thing though). Be sure to get some help turning the desk upright, it is a heavy piece of furniture. As I mentioned above, those heavy motors and legs make for a smooth and quiet raising and lowering experience that is very sturdy at my sitting (25") and standing heights (41"). Even at the full ~50" height, I did not notice much wobble or rocking at all. The controller is a great, with 3 memory pre-sets for height and a timer to remind you to stand. The first few people I showed it to commented on how cool it was that the desk would softly stop at the pre-set heights, it makes an impression of solid quality. Finally, I must say how great the customer support was that kept me constantly informed on the status of my order. I received my legs much sooner than I was supposed to, but without the desk top. Patricia and the people at FlexSpot immediately contacted me (before I even reached out to them!) to resolve the situation right away! Great desk, great company! ...would recommend!

UPDATED Like other reviewers’ comments, FedEx made some mistakes in delivering. There should be two packages— one for the desktop board only and the other for everything else. The installation was not very difficult but the instructions can be clearer. In some steps, the details were not clear or even wrong, such as the deployment of the wires, the side of some parts, etc. The quality of the desk is good. Very heavy and solid. So I raised this review to five stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW I only received a desktop board in the package—nothing else. I am very frustrated and returned and replaced the order. Let's wait and see what I will get in the replacement package.

The instructions lacked clarity in certain sections, but I got it together and it works perfectly. The most confusing part was what distance to use between the two legs. The thing to do is affix the legs on the desktop and size accordingly. It does not say to put the legs and desktop together at this point in the instructions. Placement of the electronic components may not matter as the wires are quite long. The unit is solid, heavy, and works perfectly. It has two motors which is recommended for quicker and stronger movement. It goes up and down evenly. The memory function is nice.

I bought this particular desk and model because it goes down to 24.4 inches, which is lower than most brands offer, and a more appropriate sitting height for my height. So far it seems sturdy and reasonable quality. However, if you don't need the desk to go quite so low, I think there are other brands of similar quality at lower price points and would opt for one of those instead. The desktop is not solid bamboo as one of the pictures/descriptions indicates- it appears to be mdf with laminate. Assembly was mostly clear until the end. As a few other reviewers noted, while there were pre-drilled holes for the screws to connect the legs to table top, there were not holes where the tabletop is supposed to be connected to the base at the center, nor to connect the control box, which was frustrating. I will probably eventually add these screws with a drill, but for now used command strips to attach the control box and left out the center screws.

The desk arrived in 2 parts -- 1) the table top, and 2) the legs and the motor assemblies. The table top arrived with dents and scratches. Albeit the table top appeared to be packed decently, because of its weight it looks like it was damaged on the side and the box it came with just couldn't take it, even with reasonable paddings. I think the shipper (FedEx) could have handled it better. The box with the legs and the motors arrived with no damages. Messaged the seller about the issue. The seller offered the choice of a discount or a table top replacement. We opted for a replacement table top. The seller agreed. In 2 days we got the tracking number of the replacement table top. In 3 days the new table top arrived. This time it is a winner -- even the box had some bruises and scratches, the padding protected the table top OK. Assembling the whole thing isn't too difficult. The up-and-down motions work well. The mahogany color is beautiful. Overall, the desk is good. We like it. I also appreciate the decent customer service experience.

I have been using for for a few months now and works good - press two buttons to go up and then two buttons to go down (at the heights I programmed). I have it on a hard wood floor so no stability issues at all. The surface feels think and sturdy. I personally like black so selected the black stand. I would say it shows dust really good - which kind of irritates my ocd personality . White would probably show dirt, so if I had to do it over I would choose a wood grain. Overall I am happy with the desk itself and the ease of use. As for assembly - I did the install by myself (55 year old women if that helps) and it was mostly easy to follow the instructions but you have to have a lot of patience and be creative in how you are going to install the top to the frame and then be strong enough to lift it up. So, of course it is possible to do it yourself but I would not say it is perfectly easy but you will be fine just take your time.
