  • Great stuff!
Used this wax to weatherproof my Filson packer hat. Applied the wax per directions and melted in with a hair dryer, several times. Rain runs off without soaking in- bonus, this stuff smells really good!

  • Great value for performance waxing product
So I'll start off by saying if this. If you're looking for a waxy finish on your garment this isn't the product for you. For a more the fashion trend wax look use Otter Wax. If you're looking to water proof and get a little more life out of your clothes this is the product for you. Quick Wax Guide Overview Fjallraven Wax- For performance and function, no waxy looking finish Otter Wax- For waxy looks not for performance or function, no true waterproof seal Project: Like I stated above this product is perfect for function and not for that waxy look. I used it on a canvas jacket from Target for my 5 year old son. I wanted a wax that would waterproof the jacket and add some stiffness to the fabric so I can hopefully get two seasons out of it (granted that depends on how quick my son grows). This worked great and when heated into the canvas was not left with a waxy feel. Application: Suuuuper super easy to apply. It was a bit time consuming to apply but well worth the outcome. Do not heat it up prior to applying (as some suggested), it causes blotchy spots and will 'stain' fabric (learned that the hard way). Simply draw it on until the garment is almost white, I didn't do it the first time and it left me doing another coat. After that I took my hair dryer and melted it into the fabric and vola! A great waxed canvas coat. Size: Some people complained about the size of it but to be honest a little goes a looong way with fabric wax and because this is a performance enhancing wax you're going to pay a little more. I have half of the bar left after two thick coats on a kids jacket which means I have more than enough to wax my husbands canvas bag! ... show more

  • Works great
This is easy to use to reapply the weather proofing on Fjallraven coats.

  • It works, with some work
I've used Barbour Thornproof wax on a couple of Barbour jackets and hats for several years, so I'm familiar with the waxing process on garments. The Fjallraven wax is a little different, being much more solid and hard. It takes some elbow grease to apply, the recommended technique being to rub the bar of wax (about the size of a bar of soap) vigorously onto the garment being treated, then heat the garment to melt the wax and let it be absorbed into the cloth. Living in a cool, dry climate, this is not easy, since the arid conditions make the bar of wax even harder. Next time I might try slightly heating the wax first (not melting it, just warming it), which might make it easier to apply. I've used a hairdryer with good success to melt Barbour wax into the garment, but the hairdryer process took forever, and produced mixed results, with the Fjallraven wax. Might be easier in a warmer, more humid climate. I purchased an inexpensive heat gun to use the next time around since a hairdryer simply doesn't get hot enough to do a good job melting the wax. I'll need to be careful not to torch my trousers, though. There is a fine line between just enough heat and ignition. Because the hairdryer didn't suffice where I live, the wax left some streaks. I hope to remedy that with the heat gun. In short, the stuff works, and the finish it leaves has a more pleasant dull appearance than the somewhat shiny surface left by Barbour dressing. It is a chore, though, no way around it. Takes about 45 minutes to do a pair of pants. Its the price one pays for a traditional waxed cotton garment. I wouldn't go through the effort if I didn't use the garment for serious outdoor wear. Waxing is what makes the garment waterproof, though, and waxing does help the treated garment wear better and last longer, particularly by carefully treating the seams. I don't do it for looks, since it doesn't improve the looks. It improves the item's performance. One large bar of the Fjallraven wax will treat several items of clothing. I found it to be virtually odorless, much more pleasant than Barbour wax. I'd rate it three stars because it's a chore to use, 4.5 stars because it is reasonably priced and it works. ... show more

  • Yup, it does the trick.
So, I have a cotton duck cycling rain jacket. It looks great and I've had numerous compliments about it, so I use it when hiking or just out and about. However, I also live in Portland, Oregon where it rains for months at a time. This year, the rains came late and I hadn't done my usual yearly routine of water proofing my gear like I should've. I got caught out hiking with my jacket and was utterly drenched, the jacket's factory waterproofing long since wore off. So, I used Fjallraven Greenland Wax's large bar. If you have large hands, get the large bar. You won't use it all in one sitting, but it'll be easier on your hands. I heavily rubbed the bar into jacket, then used a heat gun to melt the wax into the jacket. I then did a second coat and just threw it into a laundromat's dryer on low for a short period. It did darken and stiffen the material a bit, but it also gave it (IMHO) a better look. I've worn it in two heavy rainfalls and several misty/drizzly nights since. The water beaded excellently. Right now, my jacket is repelling water BETTER than my goretex rain coats (HOWEVER, the goretex still breathes better when it's not raining). I don't know how long the weatherproofing will work for, I'm expecting/hoping it'll last the season (similar to my goretex products) ... show more

  • Used this to make my canvas winter coat water repellent
Used this to make my canvas winter coat water repellent, decent price and there’s enough to do numerous applications. I have also used this to lubricant metal zippers. Works great for these applications.
