So I tried to follow the other reviewer's steps but it didn't help! I have android and Google. So if you go into fitbit and create an account that way, I think it's easier. But if it's Google. You have to download Family Link then follow those prompts to link a Gmail email for your child. HOWEVER. You cannot use a pre existing email. Use family link to say your child does not have an email and create one through the family link app. Then you can set it up on the child's device. Paired with the information of the other reviewer this should help solve more problems! Good luck. It took me a few hours to figure this out but I was determined. ... show more

  • It has been worth it, but so many disappointments
Color: Blue Astro Green
I will start with the positives, as I think it has been worth it even though it has many disappointments. PROS: 1. Teaching the concept of time for your kids. After a few months of wearing the Fitbit, my kids started to really grasp time and day. They are definitely more aware of how long things take, and what time activities occur. You no longer need to ask Alexa for the time, you just ask your child. 2. It was nice being able to get an idea of how many steps they are taking. 3. It was nice being able to get a general idea of how much sleep they are getting and what time they are going to sleep and waking up. 4. When you change the clock face, the kids get really excited. 5. You can sync from pretty much anywhere in your house, and you don't need to disturb your child's play. This can also be useful for if your child has lost their Fitbit, and you can track signal strength with other 3rd party mobile apps. CONS: 1. The kids were really disappointed that their sleep does not show up on their Fitbit 95% of the time. It will show up in the mobile app when you the parent sync. This seems to be a bug that has been around for a long, long time, and the company has been unable to fix it. 2. Syncing your kids Fitbit is cumbersome. It requires you to switch into the child view in the mobile app. Then you sync. Then you must switch back to the parent account with your password. If you have another child, you then must do this again. It would be much better if they automatically synced with the parent's device without any account/view switching. Also know this resets all of the "what's new" and other tooltips. So when you are back on your regular account in the mobile app, you must click through all the "ok", "ok" and "next", "next" screens. 3. Sleep data is not as accurate as other Fitbit devices. I assume this is because the heartrate sensor(s) are disabled for the kid Fitbit. It has the components, they are just disabled; which I also assume is because of some kind of FDA approval that would be needed for kids. My kids tend to wear their Fitbit very loose, which is also probably why, as that might greatly affect the accuracy of it. Also be aware that kids will not get sleep stages like adults do. 4. Kids prefer to stretch and slide on and off the Fitbit. This eventually caused one of our bands to break. It broke two times before it was too short to fit on the wrist. Bought a 3rd party replacement for it. 5. In general with Fitbit, the whole premium features locked behind a paywall is annoying. 6. Kids can set timers, which you might think is a great thing... Until they start doing it so they can wake up and play after bedtime. Or even by accident, have it wake them up. Either way, it's been worth it. I would buy it again. When my child lost his, he was so sad and wanted to buy a knew one. Luckily, we ended up finding it! Which is funny because they would sometimes complain about wearing it. Once they realize how easy it is for them to know what time it is, they seem to feel lost without a watch on their wrist. If Fitbit ever fixes the sleep data issue I will add one star back for that. If they improve the parent/child view syncing to not be such a pain, I'll look at adding another star back for that. But those are the two main reasons I gave this 3 stars out of 5. ... show more

  • How to fix software glitch for set-up
Color: Blue Astro Green
Many people including myself could not link the ace 3. I called and talked to several service reps. and they couldn’t help me. Finally figured out after I DMed Fitbit on Instagram. Create a family goggle account for your child with their own email address. Then on a separate device from your own Fitbit account, say like your child’s iPad Download the Fitbit app and sign in under with child’s google account. This will allow you to set up the ace 3. In order for the ace3 to work you have to have two separate Fitbit accounts (one adult, one child) on two different devices (exp: parents iphone, child’s ipad), signed in with two different emails that are linked within family google app. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Very difficult to set up!
Color: Black/Racer Red
My son loves his Fitbit, now that i have FINALLY set it up! I was very annoyed to find out that the Fitbit is tied to a Google account and worse, you can’t set it up unless your kid has an email account and a device that is managed by you! My son actually has an Amazon tablet and this Fotbit required him to have an Android or Apple device and link using the FamilyLink App which doesn’t work on Amazon tablets. OMG. I’m a software engineer and this watch took me several hours to figure out how to get past this restriction. It is as if the makers of Fitbit don’t have kids and know anything about parenting small kids. I was very disappointed at how difficult this was to set up. I only got it working because my husband had an Android tablet that I eventually made my son an account on to get past linking accounts. Aside from that, the sleep and step tracking is very cool and my son loves his watch. ... show more

  • It might not work with your Google account
Color: Black/Racer Red
Has worked well for my kids and they love theirs BUT Warning: If parents already moved their Fitbit account to their Google account, you may not be able to activate this product. Google is apparently "working on it." I can't move my Fitbit account to Google because of this, but at least my kids can use theirs because I delayed moving my account over. ... show more
