Description

During the seventeenth century a number of ironworks were founded in Finland. The large tracts of forestland in the Pohja region along with its unharnessed water power and good water routes made it an ideal centre for the Finnish iron industry. The ironworks at Antskog were founded around 1630, and Billnäs followed in 1641. Fiskars was started in 1649, and today is one of the oldest businesses in the western world.

I found these scissors to give a little more control- but not full control for all age groups. I use them for children experimenting the movement of scissors for the first time or a child with low tone. For children with small hands, their fingers in the 3-finger hole slip and create a grip pattern that is not functional. For children in 1st-3rd grade, these scissors are great, they fit nicely with a grip that won't cause hand cramps and add a little more leverage. Children older then 3rd grade sometimes need total control scissors, because of low tone, but the point is rounded and many children in 4th and up prefer pointed scissors for a more precise cut. So glad I discovered these at child's preschool. Toddlers learning to use scissors should definitely start with these. They are just sharp enough to avoid frustration but not to cause injury. They're very comfortable to hold. My toddler loves them so much she likes to walk around the house with them asking what else she can cut. These are perfect for my 3 going on 4 year old who is just learning to use scissors. The third finger slot helps with alignment so she's not worrying about that while focusing on cutting paper.
