Description

Great for demanding wood splitting, the Fiskars Pro IsoCore 6 lb. Maul helps you take on tough jobs while reducing muscle fatigue and joint pain. The patented, industry-leading IsoCore Shock Control System absorbs up to 2X the strike shock and vibration of wood handles. A dual-layer handle captures any lingering vibration. Its forged premium steel head features a splitting face for forcing wood apart and a driving face, for striking with another tool to help drive the wedge. Optimized blade geometry blasts tough logs apart, while an inseparable, riveted head won’t slide down or snap off, even when swinging with maximum force. A performance handle design fits comfortably in your hand and features a pronounced handle flare for security. Strategic handle texturing helps improve grip while reducing blisters. This design has been tested to exceed U.S. standards for striking tool durability to withstand the toughest work environments.

  • Best manual log splitter ever!!
Style: Pro IsoCore 8lb Maul
This is the best manual log splitting tool I have ever used and I’ve split a lot of firewood over the years. I’ve tried the wedge and sledge hammer method. I bought a slide hammer wood splitter. I have a collection of other axes and mauls. This fiskars maul is far and away the best and easiest way to go. I have now probably split about a cord of red oak with it from a tree I cut down about a year ago. I’m a regular size guy in my mid 40’s. It’s not too heavy and I don’t have to swing all that hard. It arrived perfectly sharpened. It splits big round pieces 18-24” in diameter I bucked to about 24” in length with no problem. Minimal effort is required to split up the smaller pieces. If you can lift 8lbs up to head height and drip the maul down on the right spot you can chop firewood. Goes right through like butter. The handle is easy on your hands and is not too slippery to use when wet. Highest possible ratings on this one!!! Fiskars never disappoints. ... show more

  • Real deal!!
Style: Pro IsoCore 8lb Maul
I had two large old growth trees taken down and ended up with huge piles of wood that needed to be cut and split. The trusty old axe I had didn’t cut it and made chopping that quantity of green wood miserable. So I tried to find something with more power. This is extremely solid, heavy and packs powerful strikes. Pair this with a quality wedge and the wood is splitting much easier. This was a game changer and I would purchase again if needed, but I seriously doubt I’ll need to because this is so solid I expect it to last longer than I will. ... show more

  • Great for lumberjack cosplay
Style: Pro IsoCore 6 lb Maul
Its light enough that if you are not a manly man you will still look cool when splitting wood. You can mount this on your overland truck you only drive to work in case you ever come across a piece of wood that needs splitting. Bought this to split up a Eucalyptus tree we had cut down made easy work of it (for the most part). There were times I wished I had a slightly heavier Maul but it works great overall. This has now split about 3-4 cords of wood and looks almost brand new. ... show more

  • Well built!
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
I needed to dig a small trench adjacent to a landscaping border, I had previously installed to keep drainage stones in place. This tool is sharp, solid and made quick work of it. Due to the short handle - kneeling and/or squatting is a must, but otherwise this tool will serve its purpose for many other projects. It also easily dislodges stubborn stones deep in the clay. Very happy with this tool. ... show more

  • Great for wood splitting and transporting to alternate realities
Style: Pro IsoCore 8lb Maul
I had a 60' pin oak in my front yard die, so I had to have it taken down. I politely requested the tree guys to leave the wood since I have wood burning fireplace. They left it in rounds, and I needed to split it. The box arrived and it had some obvious heft. When I removed it from the box, the first thing I noticed was that my polo shirt turned into a red flannel and I immediately grew a full, lush beard. I'll be quite honest - I was not expecting that. I take it outside to get started, and notice the steam of my breath cloud my view of the mountains. This was a bit confusing, mainly because I don't live anywhere near mountains and it was the middle of August. But I didn't have time to get distracted; there is wood to be split. I set up the first round, get into a good stance, raised the maul over my head and brought that mother down. Oh my sweet lord, how satisfying - the loud crack, followed by two thumps as the two freshly split logs fall to the soft earth. I pulled a red bandana from my pocket to wipe the sweat from my brow (I don't even own a bandana), and bring the maul up to rest on my shoulder. Out of nowhere, a red-tail hawk comes screaming down from the sky and perches on the blade, right next to my head. I'm too terrified to move. After what seems like an eternity of uncomfortable, terrifying silence, the hawk looks me dead in the eye and said "Nice swing, brah". It flies off toward the sun setting behind the mountains. I come back inside, and my beard is gone. My shirt is back to normal. I look out the window to see a boring flat horizon. Just then my wife comes running over visibly upset, and said "sweet Jesus are you OK? There was a hawk like 4 inches from your face for two whole minutes and you just stood there staring at it like an idiot!!" So anyway, the maul works great. ... show more

  • Good, but why not 5 stars?
Style: Pro IsoCore 8lb Maul
Good, solid maul. Nice handle. Nice size and length. Nice weight. Downsides: 1. The cutting edge is not sharp and needs to be sharpened before first use. 2. The end of the handle doesn’t have the very well defined knob like the X-25 has. Would be very helpful for a heavy maul like this. 3. Stickers on the handle are like super glue bonded to the handle. C’mon Fiskars. This is the 21st century. Use stickers that are effortless to remove. 4. No blade/edge guard is included. Plan to invest in one or make your own custom one like I did. Since they don’t supply a guard, I’m guessing that is why the edge isn’t sharp. A double whammy of lost customer satisfaction. ... show more
