The media could not be loaded. Good quality id say for its price, not much better on Amazon, it is plenty long. The blade seems to hold up well. Stays sharp from my testing, looks cool like the axe from the game "the forest" Like I said its long so not the best in terms of portability, but the lightest axe i held, so it isn't too bad. It has a plastic thing to protect the blade in transport, seems to be made to last, don't see it going anytime soon. All Fiskar products are quality and this hatchet is no different. The hatchet is best used for smaller tasks such as chopping kindling or perhaps clearing shrubs or other tasks that don't require a heavy duty axe/hatchet. The hatchet itself is very lightweight and is very sharp right out of the box. However, the hatchet head does seem like it is more prone to chipping or damage so you'll want to avoid hitting anything like rocks or nails. ... show more

    • The good, the bad, and the awkward
Style: X7 Hatchet
First off, the biggest reason I got this is because of the amazing customer service of Fisker/Gerber. Not only do they make good products, they stand by them. So the breakdown is below: The Good The hatchet is sharp out of the box, it's incredibly capable, and the way the head is weighted compared to the handle offers a lot of chopping power and saves weight for hiking. It is also very ergonomic in the hand and the heavy weight of the hatchet head and light weight of the plastic handle make it ideal for holding near the throat and trimming smaller branches. The Bad With the awkwardness I talk about below, I was bummed that it didn't come with a lanyard, that would have been a really helpful touch. I know that they will take care of it, but with the plastic handle, I have delamination occurring already in the handle base. The Awkward One of its benefits is also its downfall for me. The weight of the handle with it being both plastic and hollow makes it really slippery in your hand and makes it feel like it is going to constantly go flying out of my hand when I get chopping. Like I said above, having a lanyard for you wrist would have been amazing. I would also love to fill the handle with a resin and put a pin through the lanyard hole to secure it. Still, despite all of this, I still love the product, and it does what it should very well! ... show more
