They installed without an issue. Tested fine once installed. They do have a flashing light that goes off every minute to let you know they're working, and I was concerned about them being in the bedrooms. I used to use the hard-wired detectors so that I don't need to change the battery frequently. This detector comes with a built in 10 year battery, so I no longer need to hard wire my detectors. I can just install it forget it. Plus it's very easy to install.

I bought two of these smoke detectors. I removed them from the boxes and removed the yellow tags as directed, but neither of the detectors worked when I tried to test them. I went through the Amazon process of complaining only to be told to contact the manufacturer via a telephone number provided. I talked to the manufacturer's representative and explained what I did. He told me that the detector had to placed into its ceiling attachment bracket before trying to test it. I did this and both detectors worked as required. Easy to install. Good price. Arrived as per stated. I had to fiddle a bit with getting the mounting screws in place - for all of two minutes. Biggest problem with this purchase? Delivery driver did not shut gate behind themselves on the way out.

I bought eight of these in May of 2023 because description says 10 year battery life. They've all failed after only two years. I do not see a way to contact First Alert for product replacement support. Would not buy again.
