I am very impressed with this log splitting tool. It comes with 3 different interchangeable shanks to fit a variety of drills. It is simple to use and very compact. It works best nearer the edge of the log and provides a clean split quickly. I’m able to split so much more wood at a time with this versus a typical axe because I’m not having to use all of my energy swinging. It is very heavy and does a lot of the work for me. I clamped the logs vertically and started with the hex bit on my corded drill. You gotta go slow and firm. Soft woods split up nicely, but you do need to line it up on the edge and not dead center or else it’ll just spin. It’s not magic, but it does the job as long as the log isn’t too thick or knot-ridden. For smaller rounds, it’s quick and tidy. Right out of the gate, the build quality surprised me. It’s heavy, and the threading is sharp and aggressive. I ended up liking the U-shaped groove design more than I thought—it grips the wood better and doesn't bounce around like flat bits tend to.
