When I opened the box to build this, I immediately knew to be gentle during the building process. I followed the directions and it took almost 2 hours to build by myself. The hardest part was securing in the fireplace into the entire thing. The screws are so small and the space to screw in is small. I have fat hands. It took forever for me to come up with an idea to get the screws in. But I used clear tape and put the screws in the tip of a drill and then drilled them in. The friction will melt the tape and make it so you can pull the take right off once the screw is secured. After building, the next day my daughter accidentally spilled water on the top. No big deal I thought but it warped the paint. So the quaility of the paint is questionable. I might put an vinyl laminate on top of it in the end. It's also a bit of a pain having two remotes that I'm probably going to end up losing in the end. I like it, I do. But I feel like it could be better. Be prepared to use the screwdriver a lot. Be gentle. Make sure when securing the sides you have the thing tilted so the side pieces are supported on the floor because this will break. The entire structure relies on every piece being together before it is stable. It is pretty though. I have mixed feelings on this.

I have to agree with the other reviewers - this could have used some more engineering when designing the unit to be sure it was stable, all the screw holes were the correct size and perhaps used different size hardware to make this more sturdy. It look nice once together but I’m not sure I would order another until they make some major improvements.

The media could not be loaded. This is such a beautiful entertainment center especially with the electric fireplace. I just can't use it because it's too unstable to use from the wood being stripped.

Recommend to install the fireplace portion before putting on the top part. It is more sturdy starting with the top part on, however it is much harder to screw it into place. Recommend a power drill for this portion of the installation process. Also, the flimsy back, similar to a cheap bookshelf, is supposed to be put on with 24 screws. These are basically impossible to put in, even with a power drill, because they are very small and there are no pre-drilled sections. What we did, is use a few nails and a hammer. Works the same and much quicker. Hope those Pro tips help. Other than that, the Shelf itself is pretty cheaply made like a $60 to $100 bookshelf would be but you are paying extra for the slightly gimmicky fireplace edition. TV stand overall is pretty decent for partivle board. Price is a little high currently though. Fireplace Supposedly puts off heat but won't know until the winter time. Do not put items behind the fireplace portion because that would just be ridiculous. The unit overall is okay but there were a few very quirky things about it like some of the holes weren't drilled good enough and we had to redo a lot of things during install because of it being cheaply made. Otherwise looks nice & cute with the fireplace.
