  • If you like boxing or fighting
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
If your a general fan of boxing or even something like wwe or mma you would like this game. I was not the slightest fan of boxing but I liked to watch wrestling. Champion Mode my father bought this game for his playstation and after playing the champion mode, although its very scripted and spent have much options, you get in golfed into the story and ultimately start to care about what happens I even started watching the scenes, overall great story similar to the rocky movies. Fight Now Easily the most fun mode in the game aside from online. How fun it is to play the CPU, even more fun is to play with multiple friends and have a tournament. With the wide arrangement of boxers at your disposal to the bloody and slightly disturbing bare knuckles mode. Legacy Mode Legacy mode is one of the few Low points of the game, it's not much different from fight night round 4. But it's still very addictive. With legacy mode you can choose your favorite boxers in the game already, use one of your already created boxers, or create a new character from scratch right there. As you use your boxer, you start in an amateur tournament, then get to the professional boxing world where you then start to fight people to get Xperia to build your boxers attributes. You climb through the ranks from amateur to G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time). But to get there you have to be extremely good at the game and also put a lot of time into it Online Online is basically what we all expected but with a new gym system, where you can spar and have tournaments amongst your gym members, not much to say for online Overall Fight night champion is by far the best boxing game to date, graphically one of the best games I've ever seen. The boxers look almost identical to their real life counter parts ... show more

  • Surprised. I love it
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
After hearing many questionable reviews I choose to hold off initially from purchasing the game. I am however happy that I didn't wait too long. In my opinion there's been a very big lull in games that have interested me this year. Even though people claim it can get boring fast I just don't see it. First off I do think you have to be at least a casual boxing fan to fully appriciate the game. Being mostly an MMA fan and enjoying ufc 2010 and EA MMA I can say you'll realize just how bad the striking is in those games when you play FNC. Obviously FNC should excel over these games, but mechanics and gameplay are great. I honestly wasn't into it from just playing the demo. While I'd like to see more game modes, it is after all boxing and there's only so much you can do (this game does have more features compared to EA MMA). I can't complain. You'll fly by champion on easy, so I'd say start on normal at least until you get frustrated with Hayes or Frost. The legacy mode does feel very similar to EA MMA but a little improved. There are many venues, graphics/controls are steller, and gameplay is great in my opinion. Will you get bored of this game? There's never been a fighting, sports, or sandbox game that's not eventually gotten old after awhile. I just don't see how people are saying that this game is not worth the money because of it's lack of depth. I will honestly probably get a solid 2 months of enjoying this game. To me that's worth the $40 bucks I paid for it.....Don't forget to buy it new if you want to play online. Forgot EA is charging $10 for an online pass. ... show more

  • Dropped the ball on this one
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
Just received the game today, and was very excited to play it since I own round 3 & 4 and loved them. Wow, more of the same. Like a carbon copy of Fight Night Round 4 except with better graphics (which are quite good). Now some bad stuff: The game-play controls are whacked. My character randomly taunts after a 5+ punch combination, and this can't be cancelled. The computer steps right in and takes advantage of your complete openness. You don't have much control over your blocking, you can hold the standard R1 button down and try to move your arms to block incoming punches, but instead of holding it your fighter then throws counter punches that correspond to where your total punch control stick is. In FNR4 you could stand in place and do a 'rope-a-dope' type thing. Not so much with this one. Your fighter tends to not move when the left stick is moved when in close quarters with the other fighter. The 'create a fighter' customization sucks, you don't have total control over facial features, everything is pre-packaged for mix and match. The menus are near identical to FNR4, which is boring as hell. Training is roughly the same except you have a stamina bar so you're limited to how much you can train before a fight. I'm early on, so it's 2-3 training sessions then you need a week to rest before a fight. More dumbass 'mail' messages that don't mean anything. Champion mode is so-so, when the game starts you're automatically thrown into playing a pre-made boxer storyline. You can win fights, but if you don't meet the specified check-point goal (i.e. knock your opponent down in the 4th round) you lose, EVEN IF you won the fight by decision. Good stuff: Good graphics. Punch control is nice instead of mashing buttons (which is also an option). More boxing styles to choose from when creating a boxer. I'm very disappointed with the game, expected a lot more. Like they took FNR4, added a WWE storyline, updated the graphics then put it on shelves. I'll tolerate for awhile, but it's not that much fun. If you have FNR4, keep playing it and wait for the next release. ... show more

  • This is an awesome game. I just wish the story mode was better.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
I bought this game so I could download a created Rocky Balboa character and also fight as past boxing greats such as Joe Frazier. The rise to the top mode (or whatever it is called) where you chose a fighter and have him work his way to the top is fun. The mode does have a huge drawback though. Once you win the title the game places you in boxing purgatory where you can't go anywhere else and you are stuck fighting the same 2 or 3 fighters all the time. The controls are also a bit tricky to get a good grasp of until you have fought 5 or 6 times and get used to them. The game can be frustrating at times. While most opponents will go toe to toe with you in the ring, there are a lot of other boxers who seem to be able to block anything. You will get frustrated and waste your stamina trying to knock them out quick or even by just trying to hit them. Your best strategy with these fighters would be to dodge their punches and try to wear them out and hit them as often as you can. But don't let them knock you down too much because if they knock you down twice it is almost impossible to get up off of the mat. ... show more

  • The controls keeps getting easier.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
The controls on this one is more intuitive compare to the previous ones. Very easy to adjust if you are willing. If you are a button person, buttons can be used for punching. If you like the analog for punching, they have made a great improvement in where you don't even need to do circular motions for punches. Just tap the analog to the position for the type of punch you want. Then you have the power button in where you can give a harder jab, hook, uppercut, etc. So really, they made it easier for everyone, except for the people that are too used to the old controls that can't adapt and overcome. The graphics improved a tiny bit compared to FN4. Flash knockouts are a treat cause it surprises you cause it happens so fast like if you were watching a Pay Per View event. The only real gripe I have about it is they should bring back the blocking high and low instead of just block timing. Oh, and don't keep pressing the button or you will have extra punches cause there seems to be a memory buffer. If you do a one and one two punches, you have better control. Overall, its fun and exciting even if you lose, you still get a sense of feeling that it was a good fight. This is the best boxing simulation. Real boxing combos and techniques works on this game superbly. ... show more

Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
Overall, this is the best boxing game ever made. I will break it down for you. PROS 1. Amazing controls that allow you to hit in a number of different ways very intricately and precisely. Does not get boring quickly. 2. Graphics are insane. They did an unreal job of the graphics while playing. Crisp detail. 3. Story is interesting and it gives you a number of different venues. 4. Multiple ways to play. Champion mode, Legacy mode, and online. 5. VERY challenging fights. Every fight is different and they throw in little twists to keep the game fresh in Champ mode. CONS 1. The videos for cut scenes and story lines are pretty choppy I'm not going to lie. It's kinda disappointing and strange at the same time. The in game graphics and smoothness blow the videos away. Not so bad that your getting dizzy but I will admit there were some videos that got pretty choppy. 2. In champ mode they just throw you into the mix. They never formally teach you the best way to throw punches and how. As you progress you realize your way behind the 8 ball in fighting and it's kind of up to you to figure out the best way to fight. They give you little tips before the fight on how to beat the opponent which is all well and good but you still need to execute. Overall great game. Hope this helped. ... show more

  • BEST FIGHT NIGHT EVER MADE!!!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
Fight Night Champion, is by far the best boxing game ever created. The game was made with detail as each fighter looks like the ACTUAL fighter. Fight Night Champion's campaign is what makes this Fight Night different from others. I'm very pleased with the M rating, since it allowed this game to open up to a whole other level. Once I put the game in I was just blown away with the graphics and game play. It puts you immediately in the campaign which was different but got me hooked the minute it started. Fight Night Champion has a large selection of fighters, something I thoroughly enjoyed bringing up old fighters and new upcoming fighters. The Online game play is NOT laggy at ALL. That must be one of my favorite things. Fighting against someone else online couldn't be smoother. The ONLY thing I found confusing and a LITTLE disappointing was how in the BANTAMWEIGHT class, you only have 1 fighter to choose from (Nonito Donaire). To use him, you would need to fight a different weight class as it's only him in his class, BUT that doesn't take away from a game that was made for Boxing fans that brought me TO a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. If you LIKE boxing this game is for you. If you like graphics, fighting, details and a great Campaign mode then this game IS FOR YOU :D!. ... show more

Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
OK, where do I start imagine this, its the 8th round, up to this point in the game you've beaten your opponent to a bloody corpse, you've knocked him down just about every round, your up on every judge score card, and now you find your self pounding him again, so bad that all the backround noise stop, he starts to back up, he's about to fall again and hopefully for the last time, then all of a sudden he becomes the best defensive boxer in the world, blocking every punch you throw, he's the blocking king, now he grabs you, the ref breaks you up, you go to punish him for becoming the best punch blocker you ever seen, and you are meet with a jab to the gut DOWN GOES FRAZIER, DOWN GOES FRAZIER,the ref counts 1.2.3. you try to get up 4. but you just can't 5. come on 6. come on 7. all that training 8. my stats are maxed out I cant get any better 9. I can't believe this, my stupid boxer won't get up 10. your out. wow beaten by a boxer name Joe nobody with a record of 10 wins and 30 losses It almost sounds exiting right? Now, if your one of those people that it does sound exciting, imagine it happening every single match. I mean come on EA I know you want real but so real that its impossible to win where's the fun. so I go to options, change difficulties to rookie, because I've lost ten straight mabe i need to start on a easier setting. I thought I was skilled at playing this game I mean i do own every fight night ever made but, ok here we go its the 8th round again, up to this point in the game you've beaten your opponent to a bloody corpse again, you've knocked him down just about every round again, your up on every judge score card again, and now you find your self pounding him yet again, wait! dont tell me, its happening again yea down goes frazier, yea you lose! hold on, but its on rookie setting this is as easy as it gets. wheres the love EA? take it from me dont waste your time are money. ... show more

  • Way to make an awesome game even better!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 3
Just received this game yesterday and after a solid 4 hrs I can say this is hands down the best boxing game you will find. The new story line is fantastic so far; has the feel of a movie or tv show. The new boxing mechanics make the game pace much faster and more realistic (as realistic as a video game can be anyways). The 1080p resolution with the updated visuals make the game come to life. The only con I have so far is the failure to import your own music into the game. I am not a fan of hip hop or most in game music and that was a big plus when purchasing NHL 2010 so I can't understand why this game cannot incorporate that feature since both are made by EA. Overall I recommed this game to any boxing fan; you will not be dissapointed!!! Update: 3/7/11 After a week playing I've only managed to find 1 other con and that is the ref. For some reason while playing through champion mode the ref blocks my view so I can't see the opponent throwing punches. I haev to move the action closer to me so the ref is behind us. Other than that it's a fantastic game and I'm definitely happy with my purchase. ... show more
