  • Works quick
This wasn’t intended as a surfboard repair, but rather for a piece of dash plastic that had broken on my truck. Being familiar with resin used for surfboard repair growing up in a beach town where everyone has a board or two, this seemed like a good solution to repair the part. Upper dash plastic had cracked and broken off 2 smaller pieces near one of the two mounting holes. I was able to stick them together with superglue, but wanted to give extra support with this resin around the repaired areas. While Looks was not super important, if figure eight clear or black to match the plastic dash piece would be best. Upon opening the resin bottle, there is a peel off foil seal and when taking that off, a thin plastic wrap thickness layer still remained. With no instructions on use, I just figured I could puncture that so used a toothpick. That is the other part is the cap for the bottle is sealed at the point and I didn’t want to cut it for my small repair area. So used the toothpick to make the hole in the bottle seal, then squeezed out little bits in the hole i made and spread it around with my toothpick. Looked good and used the Uv light to activate or I guess cure it. The light was already charged but there is a short charge cable included if you needed it. I spent about 3 minutes going over my repair with the light before checking it had hardened and it seemed good. So then a similar process on hr other side that would be slightly exposed (after my practice on the underside of the piece). It does have a little raised glove kind of look to the repair area if looking close but this was more about structural strength than perfect looks to me. Mounted the holder for the screen I was mounting to this dash piece (that was when I first cracked it making a small hole with a drill for wires to pass through) and secured it back in place with the 2 original mounting screws very confident that the repair is now at least as strong as the piece before I broke it (and I used the resin to also strengthen a small crack near one of the mounting screws so better than new) I hope that I’ll be able to use the remaining product for other repairs since the cap fit back on tight but I guess I’ll see whenever that may be in the future. ... show more

  • Good for SMALL repair jobs. Good for SMALL repair jobs.
The picture with both bottles and the scraper (provided by the manufacturer) is a little misleading as it appears that the bottles are twice the size of the scraper. They are actually both about the same height - about 3-4 inches, including the pointy lid. That being said, it doesn't go far. I was repairing an old canoe that is not leaking, but which definitely has some damage (see photos - the first one is before I began repairs on an approximately 1 foot long by 2 inch wide area) and I wanted to fix both ends, but was only able to do one end. I also worked outdoors on a sunny day. I knew I wouldn't need the little UV pen by exposing it to direct sunlight, but I wasn't prepared for how quickly it would cure in direct sun! That's why the second picture shows "globs" that cured before I spread it out. My bad! Overall, I'm pleased with this - it was less than ten dollars - and feel it's going to add some life to my canoe. This is EXCELLENT for small repair jobs. It's quite smelly (and probably toxic) so use outdoors if possible (but, again, watch out for that direct sun!). Even though I didn't use the UV pen light that came with the kit (which also includes sandpaper and tape for protecting surrounding areas) it is a delightful little thing which is rechargable! I wasn't expecting that. I used the gloss just because I figured it would give some added protection, not because I cared about the appearance of the finished project. It was runnier coming out of the bottle and also cured quickly in the direct sunlight. Overall, very pleased with this fast repair kit and recommend it! ... show more

  • Great for small repairs
Ordered this for my stepson to repair a small hole in his speed boat deck. The kit comes with all of the necessary materials for small repairs like that. The included applicator is a nice bonus. Just be aware that this is UV cure and if you do your repair out in the sunlight it will begin curing quickly! Recommend that you use this in a garage out of direct sunlight. ... show more

  • Fast Curing, Crystal Clear Repairs for More Than Just Surfboards
I received this Vividye Fiberglass Repair Kit through the Amazon Vine program, and while it is marketed primarily for surfboards and marine craft, it has quickly become an indispensable asset in my woodworking shop. I specialize in turning custom wooden rings on the lathe, which involves cutting a precision channel into the wood and embedding vibrantly colored crushed stone inlays. Finding a reliable binder that sets quickly and stays pristine has always been a challenge, but this kit completely changes the game. The two-part formula mixes effortlessly, flows perfectly into the intricate channels of the crushed stone, and secures everything beautifully. The absolute standout feature for me is the inclusion of the UV lamp. Instead of waiting hours for standard epoxies or traditional finishes to cure while a project sits idle on the lathe, this resin sets completely in just two to three minutes. The speed of the UV cure dramatically streamlines my workflow, allowing me to move directly from application to final sanding and shaping without any frustrating downtime. The aesthetic results are spectacular. The resin cures perfectly clear every single time, which is crucial for letting the natural brilliance and rich colors of the embedded stone shine through without any cloudiness or yellowing. The kit comes with everything you need to get started right away, and the final finish is incredibly durable, waterproof, and heat-resistant. Whether you are patching up a paddleboard for the weekend or looking for a fast, rock-solid, ultra-clear bonding agent for precision crafts and household repairs, this versatile kit delivers professional-grade results. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Quick epoxy repairs - small ones, UV light cure. Quick epoxy repairs - small ones, UV light cure.
I have been wanting to try this type of product for quite some time - I have done a lot of fiberglass work in the past (auto body and boat building) and one of my go to things when something needs to be repaired is fiberglass and epoxy, or just the epoxy on it's own. Occasionally I have to do a repair that I don't think those cyanoacrylate type glues will hold. And the morning this item arrived I thought I had the perfect test all in line. I was on a job, pulled out my glasses and the arm broke off about 2/3 the way to the end (at least I was able to wear them and complete my job). First I will say, this is a nice kit, it has fairly aggressive sandpaper, plastic backing film, tape, the resin and clear coat a scraper, a UV light and charging cable (this is not usb c). Instructions and use are straight forward, they said this was a slightly exothermic reaction, and I was surprised, that yes, in the small amount I used it did generate noticeable heat - though nothing I would worry about. Now, back to the glasses - I probably could have picked a better test subject. The plastic was very brittle, I could see bands of fractures forming like the vertebrae in your spinal column. Also, even though I taped it, it was difficult to hold the arm in position and still while shining the UV light on it. However it did cure, and pretty good I might add. I suppose if I had removed the tape and then repeated the process on the other side it would have held up quite well (but would have broken at one of the other fracture points in short order) - I wanted to see how strong the product was, not how good I was at applying it. That said, it does what it says it will do - how well overall will depend on what you are repairing and how well you prep it. Larger items that are perhaps cracked, or can lay still and aligned as to shine the light on them would probably work a whole lot better. If you have a use for a product like this, at this price point I would say try - this seems to work as advertised and I am assuming the fault of it's breaking was my application, but that it held up as shown in video, leads me to believe that a proper job would hold up. ... show more

  • Easy to use and will work hard Surfboards would not recommend on inflatables like the picture shows Easy to use and will work hard Surfboards would not recommend on inflatables like the picture shows
I ordered this as a travel kit for going on a surf trip. There is only 15 g of Solar resin and 15g of gloss. This kit will do a maximum of a dime to quarter size hole if you layered up. The UV pen works great and it comes with some stick on repair patches in lieu of doing a proper repair. For small holes, this is good value easy to use. Make sure you do it inside out of sunlight as it would be activated by the sun as well. Perfect for tiny holes and comes with everything you need. If you need a larger repairs, you’re going to need a bigger kit super easy to use very affordable as a repair kit for traveling. Also stays under the 4 ounces of resin to travel in hand luggage. ... show more

  • Also works on ABS Also works on ABS
It's been a while since I've done any work on fiber glass. I do remember that it's almost impossible to repair. This kit has the right stuff to do it. There are two kinds of glues that are both ultraviolet activated. And the ultraviolet light is just enough to work. But it's better after the patch is done to put it out in the sun for a day. That gets the best ultraviolet results. I do work on golf carts, and they generally have an ABS body that behaves an awful lot like fiberglass. Sometimes, when the golf carts get smashed, the body actually cracks. And it's hard to get it to hold back together with bondo or regular glues. If you use this kit just like you would on fiberglass, you can seam the ABS back together. And then if it's necessary, you can you put some bondo over that. The whole thing is sandable, but you'll have to paint it afterwards. ... show more

You get about 8 square inches of clear protective material, a bottle of glue, a bottle of gloss, sandpaper, a smoothing tool, and a uv light. You will need a power supply for the uv light. Mine was in the sun anyway, so I didn't need it. There seems to be a good amount of glue to clear repair covering. I followed the instructions for the repair, but if your project is vertical, like mine was, I do NOT recommend the tape. It does not stop the glue from running down, but it does bond to the glue and leave you with red streaks in your repair work. I was not too worried about this, since I need to paint over the whole patch area anyway. But bits of tape stuck under the patch will undoubtedly affect the water tightness. The glue has enough viscosity that if you don't try to use too much, it will stay in place. I found though, that the easiest way to apply the patch on a vertical surface, was to apply the glue to the patch itself first, then apply the patch to the damaged area. I ended up using my hands as no gloves were supplied and I ended up with smudges on my patch. As for the patch, it cuts easily to size, but be sure to cut through the entire area that you need. It rips easily, and your carefully planned patch may be inadvertently altered. I provided before and after images below. I was worried about the gouge into my fiberglass side wall - afraid that it was deep enough that moisture could continue to erode the integrity. With this patch in place, I am no longer worried - there is not longer any exposed rough fiberglass and the patch seals well to the existing surface. ... show more
