Description

The FESTOOL CONTURO KA 65 Edge Flag Kit allows you to apply sheet metal or other materials to curved parts. Features a 120V motor to help get the job done quickly. This Festool edge banding allows you to work at one of two speeds for the control you need. The tool is capable of finishing angled bevel edges. While operating in a stationary position, this Conturo edge band is easily portable to take wherever you need it. An ergonomic design reduces strain as you work. The belt is capable of handling large straight, concave or convex edges, as well as outside and inside corners. The electronic glue application of this tool provides your pieces with excellent adhesion. The glue comes in cartridges so you can quickly change it when you need to change colors. Its nozzle is easy to clean so you can get to the next part of your project. The edge casing stays cool for your safety. Melt the adhesive evenly to avoid boiling or discoloration. The edger is easy to use freehand or you can attach it to an optional table stand. This tool is compatible with wood, plastic, or laminate for added versatility. A warm-up time of less than eight minutes gets you started very quickly. You can apply material between 0.5mm and 3mm thick with just one machine. • oh my gosh this is wonderful
We are making new cabinets for a small winter retirement home we unexpectedly purchased. I am a "retired" cabinet maker and I am used to my commercial tools. I tried using the stick on edgbanding, but that was a mess as the glue kept weeping out. I finally broke down and purchased the Festool edgebander. It is such a treat. You won't be disappointed in your purchase. This puts on your edgebanding as good (and i think better) than my huge commercial edgebander. the corners are hard to see which direction it was applied. It heats up fast. I just can't say enough good things about it. ... show more

  • For the professional shop
Great tools, it does what it supposed to do. Not for the weekend warrior. I have a dedicated SCMI edge bander that I use for all straight edges, this one allows me to edge band curves or small projects, even some projects on site. Great addition to my shop!

  • Great tool, once you justify the $. 4 stars for the occasional jam
A great mobile, versatile tool. I have had the CONTURO for over a year now and can admit that the investment has finally paid for itself. It is worth the purchase depending on what your industry is involved in, your workload, and most importantly WHO IS USING IT. I own a cabinet shop that makes 32 mm frameless cabinetry and institutional furniture. We also have a retail store that sells traditional factory-built cabinetry. I have found this tool a beneficial compliment (not replacement) to our straight-line edgebander. Let me explain: The conturo is simply a self-feeding & acting hot glue gun with multiple ports that feels and operates like a router. A "perfect edge" is achieved when the operator fully understands the proper finesse, speed, and HEAT settings as different edgebandings are more sensitive to the PVA style adhesive that is used in the machine. (Think of not setting up a router and holding it the correct position) Therefore, this tool is most beneficial for: - edging curved and awkward panels that would normally be a hassle in a straight-line system. Table tops, for example, are simple and effective with the entire festool system taking 1/3 of the time than traditional methods. -installations! you can take the whole system in the trunk of a Honda and be confident that you don't have to run back to the shop on account of a missing shelf. If you a lot of frameless cabinetry, consider this tool for your installers' sake -cleaning. I use this as a supplemental system as well. Why buy a case of black glue pellets for my edgebander, and clean it on account of one job? I would rather purge the Conturo and waste 3 pucks instead of paying my employee to clean my straight-line. -3mm edgebanding is BEAUTIFUL with the conturo. Almost lazer quality when dialed in because you have to manually rout the edging off your work, it allows for perfect edges; no chatter or burn through. Takes time. - 2 stage settings for temp with output and speed for that temp in memory, speed can be controlled on the trigger from fast to slow. CONS: pricey$$$$$$- buying the festool name along with proprietary glues and always sold as a "system". Anyone who owns their products can attest to this. The system works great if you have all the pieces. ESPECIALLY THE ROUTER. Yet, i feel that it works the best over all other portables BECAUSE of the system. Instructions don't do justice. I don't know why Festool writes instructions like Lego. You need to really test drive your temp. and handling before you start on a major workpiece. Temps on glue box are guidelines and those temperatures can melt some edgebandings before they even hit the work. FYI my temp for .5mm PVC is 185 C, glue output is 2 .5 hashes under 1/2, and my speed is at fast. -Jams at beginning of application when glue or edge hits the second roller.. the pressure switch seems to deflect the banding into the back of the feed roller resulting in the tool to be fooled into the engagement process and dump glue excessively in the tool. This happens most when tool is first started up. Slow- nothing beats a straight line. edging is half the process, you need to manually trim and bevel with a router. Requires Finesse...not idiot-proof - you can easily jam this if the height and temperature settings aren't confirmed before use; resulting in a really big mess. The height setting will change when it goes from hand-held to benchtop. PS you WILL need the bench, or at least the adapter to make your own. Since this is based on a router concept, you must be aware of your environment and the condition of the workpiece to eliminate scratches and other obstructions to get hung up on. Lots of waste when purging; trade-off for not cleaning a glue pot i suppose. you can waste up to 5, $4 glue pucks when going from dark to light colors. (muffin pans ;) PROS: -" I have a edgebander in my truck!" - works on 110v and is ready to edge under 10 min. -great for awkward pieces and a supplemental edgebander I WOULD 100% RECOMMEND THIS FOR ANY SHOP THAT DOES THEIR OWN INSTALLATIONS, especially curved reception desks and similar projects... build, THEN edge. This is not for your weekend project. The whole system will cost you close to $4K. DON'T LEND THIS OUT!! Be responsible with who uses this. If you can justify that, this tool will work for you. ... show more
