Description

For players who want the style and sound of Fender’s Golden era, we created the Vinterra ‘50S Telecaster. Equipped with the coveted features that defined the decade—including period-accurate neck profile and playing feel, along with re-voiced pickups—this guitar has all of the bite and twang that made the telecaster a legend. For authentic, vintage-style tone we recreated our favorite set of ‘50S Telecaster pickups. Twangy and articulate, they have the crisp, Snarling sound that put Fender on the musical MAP. The thick, fat-shouldered “early 50S C-shaped neck has a 7. 25”-Radius maple fingerboard with 21 vintage-style Frets for classic playing feel. A vintage- style Tele bridge with three brass barrel saddles gives this Telecaster it’s characteristic twang, while vintage-style tuning machines provide original-era aesthetics, rock-solid performance and tuning stability. Other features include vintage-style strap buttons, chrome hardware and four-bolt neck plate. Includes Deluxe Gig bag. • Gonna agree with the foreign reviewers on this one. Last electric I will own. *Edit **2nd Edit Gonna agree with the foreign reviewers on this one. Last electric I will own. *Edit **2nd Edit
**Remember how I told you not to sweat bumpy, not sharp, fret ends? Somewhere along the year and half of owning and playing this daily, the frets are no longer bumpy. Might even pass a nylon sock test lol. I’ve done no fret dressing. Just let the quality maple wood be wood. The wonders of casing your guitar whenever you’re not playing it. :P (I even like the gloss neck now, very smooth and not sticky at all) *Finally decided to add some pics: what's underneath the pick guard and where the truss rod actually is for those who may not know (by the pick guard; the headstock has a walnut plug). Otherwise, looks pretty much like other pics out there. Haven't had to adjust the truss rod since I've gotten it, playing it daily, but I'd probably remove the pick guard and use a paint can opener rather than remove the neck. :P Original review below. Unless I fall into a '59 neck lester. But I'm really an acoustic player at this point. I had a problem with my order and Amazon came through for me with great customer service. As for the tele: Don't sweat problems like bumpy fret ends, poor setup. Bumpy fret ends are better than too short fret ends, will go away once your guitar is acclimatized to your area. This guitar is the easiest I've ever set up. Just raised the action slightly. Slightly. I was bending out with the B and high E, raised their action eyeballing it in playing position until I wasn't bending out anymore (loosen the offending strings first). Buzzing on power chords, raised low e and A, ditto. Intonation is spot on unless I use a capo (will have to get a pressure sensitive capo). Also raised the pickups, which were a little quiet, to about 2mm from the high E and 2.3mm from the low e, perfect now. I play through an old twenty watt amp, all the settings at 12 (noon/neutral), gain at 10 o’clock. No pedals, no effects. The clean tone on this is the best I've ever heard. There are some YT videos that showcase this beautifully. I think one guy plays clean jazz in a poorly lit room, another with his fingers in GC. Neck is joined perfectly. Will have to find another place to put my picks. :P The neck is the draw here. Beautiful shape, feel. They probably stopped making it like this because of the extra labor involved. Wish my acoustics had this lol. Lacquer sucks, I'd prefer a satin finish, but not as big a problem as other glossed necks I've played. Fits my average sized hands like a glove, I can do barre chords for days. That tricky F chord!? Fuggedaboutit! This is ergonomics 101, folks. Smaller vintage frets actually turn my heavy hand into a light touch. I can't see them wearing out too fast. Frets dressed absolutely perfect. Synthetic nut cut fine. Vintage tuners allow me to restring in 20 minutes (I used to take 45-85 minutes on modern tuners, cursing by the time I got to the b and high E). No neck dive. Heavy thick body, but balanced so you don't really feel it with a good strap. No contour cuts, but very comfortable beveled edges make that unnecessary. Body vibrates in all the right ways, as does the neck. Brass saddles make me feel like I'm using Fernandes' old sustainer system. The notes just do not fade. I really can't say enough good things about this guitar. Try one out. Be aware of how heavy it could be, and don't sweat those small things I mentioned. For me, I can't imagine getting another electric. ... show more

  • The one
At 65 I started playing again 5 years ago (after 45 years). I have the means to buy most any guitar I want and as such have tried everything from custom shops to squires. THIS VINTERA is the best all around classic tele of them all...including the custom shop '51...almost. I did have to work on the fret ends and slightly roll the fret board edges but I do that with almost all guitars under $1500 anyway. The fat boy neck I don't want to let go of and the sound is exquisite perfection. Just hell yea on this one. My custom shop was sold but this I can't imagine letting go of. As long as I want a quintessential tele in my collection this will be it. ... show more

  • Loving it!
This guitar is awesome. I was on the fence between this and a 50s American original and I went with this one. The “modified” aspects in my opinion put this in a league of its own. American original may sound great (as it should, and is still on my radar for the future) but this is an entirely different beast with the 4-way switch and s1 option. The custom shop pickups sound amazing. I’m very happy with this purchase and can’t recommend it enough if you want a 50s sound and feel with some extras to boot. And the budget friendly Mexican manufacturing is an added bonus and not a drawback or inferior product in the slightest! ... show more

  • if you can play a big U shaped neck, this is the tele to get
Look, I'm a tele dude. Have and have had dozens of them. This one is charming and feels substantial. And the tones are all there. Some teles sound harsh or wirey, but this is perfect. Maple neck feels awesome, and I appreciate the classic radius and fret size. Fiesta Red can't go wrong.

  • Absolutely Stunning
I can’t say one bad thing about this guitar. Looks gorgeous, stays in tune great, and feels very nice with the C shaped neck. Pickups sound like Teles on classic recordings, I am in love with this Vintera line. 😊
