  • Good quality, classic style
Style: Bundle w/ Gig Bag Color: Black
Hey fellow shoppers...purchased this Squire Stratocaster largely because of the SSS pickups, design, and price. Just had a concert for a private party (~70 audience) and very pleased with the outcome. Distinctly different sound from humbucker pickups; classic style; compliments on the guitar; worked perfectly in the songs I used it for. Please note that tuning will be challenging the first week, but remember that not only does this have a whammy bar, but you'll have new strings: It'll need shaking out (and keep working the whammy; I think that helps, whether you use it or not in live performance). Austin did a good job checking in with me; thumbs up to them. All in all, five stars for this Squire Strat. On to the next performance. ... show more

  • Well worth the money
For the price this is a very good guitar for beginners to start their musical journey. It has a comfortable sturdy build and is easy to handle. It is "not" a generic cheapo piece of junk. As for the rest of the items that came with the guitar I'm not even going to rate that stuff I'm just focused on the guitar. ... show more

  • A Fender Legend at a Squire Price! Definitely!
Fender makes the legendary electric guitars like the Stratocaster and the Telecaster. Squire may be Fender's discount brand because it doesn't use the same quality materials as the Fenders, but Squire certainly works without busting budgets. This being an electric guitar, the sound you seek isn't in the structure of the wood but in the strings, the pickups, and the heart. OK, the heart, might not be as objective, but if you know what you want to do with the guitar, then definitely take a look at this one. I picked up a Sire S7 about a year ago, and it is a lot heavier. So if you're looking for a lighter electric guitar, look no further than the Squire Stratocaster. This strat has a "C-shape" neck. This means, the palm of your hand will be more curved. A "D-shape" neck (like on the Sire S7), will let your palm be a little more flatter and closer to the backside of the fretboard. Needless to say, if you are starting out, definitely try C-shape first before trying other shapes. Personally, I like having an SSH arrangement for pickups. (The S's stand for Single coil pickup. The H stands for Humbucker, which is a double coil pickup.) Many guitars will have just two singles or thre singles or combination of S and H pickup. I think it's worth paying a little extra for the Humbucker as opposed to Squired's starter Strat which will like have two or three single coils. There's room to try our a little bit of everything and PRACTICE everything. Don't forget an amp, but if you are looking for silent practice with headphones (whether you are living in an apartment or if your a parent who is afraid of the noise), check out Fender's new Micro Mini. It's perfect for a guitar like this. ... show more

  • Pretty, inexpensive, and sounds great, too!
I like the color and the sort of tiger's eye look to it, though this individual one isn't as tiger's eyed on the back, just the front and top of the back. I sort of wanted to buy one through another music place so I could be picky about it, but this was less money with more goodies. I got a heavier one, which makes me happy, it weighs in at about 7 1/2 pounds, while some of the ones I saw were only about 6 pounds. It does have a color mark on the front finish, not a defect, it's part of the wood grain, but it would have made me choose a different one. I only made minor adjustments to the bridge and pickup heights, which didn't need to be made, it sounded great right out of the box even with it's original strings. It holds its tuning well, and the tuner it came with is easy to use. The strap is good enough for me. It came with 3 picks, but I bought a mustang amp thing from Austin Bazaar, too, and that came with a big pile o' picks. The disc wasn't really useful to me, but I watched it all the way through, just in case. I read and watched many reviews before my purchase and I am thrilled. I'm not so happy with the delivery company, which took 13 days even though I bought it with prime. It was not Austin Bazaar's fault, though, they are great. And the product is great. Excellent sustain on this thing. Oh, the humbucker wasn't installed perfectly straight, the brown stripe of wood on the back of the neck isn't flush, you can feel it, and the tremolo bar is wobbly until you modify it with a piece of thread or something, but it's no deal-breaker. The neck is straight, the satin finish feels lovely, the action's good, and the frets don't buzz. I might never need the gig bag, but it does fit in there, a bit snug perhaps, but it closes. It's an excellent package deal, great quality for the price. ... show more

  • Great guitar
My son was tired of trying to play my SG which I'd modified for left-hand. He decided he wanted a Strat and after delaying for way too long, I did the research and saw this particular model, the Fender Squire Stratocaster with a twin (humbucker style) and 2 single coil pick-ups was rated as one of the best deals on a Strat available. This model is white with the speckled black guard but it is otherwise identical to the sunburst maple model so highly reviewed in British and American guitar media. I was always worried I was shorting my son if I didn't get one of the higher grade Fenders but this guitar has a great build, great sound and with the different types of pick-ups one it, is extremely versatile, allowing my son to play super clean with the single coils or with the warmer/fuzzier SG-like sound with the double coil. The tremelo bar is easily unscrewed and he can add it back or remove it as desired, in seconds and without tools. ... show more

The guitar is great, but the order was missing the tuner, picks and instructional DVD. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to contact anyone to have them sent to me. At least send me the tuner and picks!!! Everybody takes those!
