  • Good guitar for the price
Style: 140SCE Color: Natural
This review is for a Fender CD-140 SCE dreadnaught 6 string., I just received the guitar on 2-3-21. Ordered from Amazon. It arrived in good condition and shipping only took 3 days. My first impression was that the finish is beautiful. It is high gloss all over. The down side of this is that the neck is also glossy which tends to be a little more "sticky" than a satin or matte finish would be. The fret board edges are very smooth and the action seems just right. I couldn't detect any fret buzz. After I tuned it and played a little I was happy with the tone and sustain. It also sounds good plugged into my Crate acoustic amp. The sound was clear with no feedback or noise. The Fishman Pre amp controls aren't the greatest. The little knobs for volume bass and treble are very small and it is hard to see how much you have turned them. The on board tuner is ok and closely matches the settings of my digital clip on tuner. The guitar weighs exactly 5 pounds and feels fairly light--which I like. It came with a hard case, which is fine, especially when you check case prices running at least $60 and up. It also came with a 10 foot cable, and a hex wrench for adjusting the truss rod. I paid $299 but have seen most sellers asking $439. The bottom line is that this guitar is a bargain, and seems to be well made and of decent quality.. I give it 4 stars, but really, when you consider the price, even at $400 it is close to a 5. ... show more

  • EXCELLENT GUITAR for the money
Style: 140SCE Color: Natural
I wanted an acoustic but had a budget. I bought this because of the solid top and what I read about it on Amazon and online in youtube. It has a real, rich sound that is very clear. It holds tune well. It is big but it is a dreadnaught which was a little tough getting used to but I really enjoy this guitar. I shopped around for about 4 months going to guitar stores and the price range for this size with the solid top narrows it down to a few guitars plus the cut so you can play the high frets. I will say the only drawback is the action seems a little high in the higher frets but that may be normal for this price range. I know if I buy a Gibson or similar someday then I will get better action but that will cost me $3K. ... show more

  • Its an OK guitar that plays easy
Style: 140SCE Color: Mahogany
I got the walnut / mahogany version of this guitar, at first note I can tell the neck is bent though I"d set the guitar up anyway I would say it does NOT come setup from Fender. The low E string on the guitar was clearly dirty above some frets, I'm not sure why. The finish had no other blemishes on it. Its solid enough all the way around but feels like its priced too high. I'm debating sending it back and getting something better from a different brand that's a little more because I think it'll be a lot more guitar for not a lot more money. It's not the best tone and feels kind of flat. I'd say its strengths are how playable it is (even in need of a setup) as I expect that to get more dialed in the longer I own it if I keep it. NOTE: I got a different tuner that was installed crooked, probably going back. Came shipped in its case inside an Amazon box. ... show more

  • Calidad de sonido y un hermoso acabado ...!!!!
Style: 140SCE Color: Natural

  • Action is crazy
Style: 140SCE Color: Mahogany
Action on the piece that I received is crazy! I do not have any problems when I play up to the 7th fret, but after that, some notes start to buzz, which drives me crazy. If I did not have that issue, I would give it five stars because everything else looks fantastic. I love the size, love the color, love the material, but the action is driving me nuts! ... show more

  • Great guitar even for experts and collectors.
Style: 140SCE Color: Mahogany
I am by no means a beginner, I have been playing for 20 years and could be considered among the top tier of semi-professional guitarists. At the time of purchase these were going for $430 at guitar center but I was lucky enough to get this for $325 and it plays like a guitar twice the cost. The sound, the action and the overall quality of this guitar are all 5/5 for a guitar in this range. That being said, I have only had this guitar for a couple months, only time will tell how it holds up. That goes for the case as well, which looks and seems nice but anything made produce in Asia is questionable. ... show more

  • Terrible
Style: 140SCE Color: Mahogany
If you're looking to buy a guitar, buy from a seller who is a music store. The setup was awful. Buzzing in multiple spots. Case is old style fender case not new. Not satisfied at all. Many other guitars in same price range that are way better. Should have bought from different seller, and added a case. It's really just a $300 guitar and the case is cheap for the extra 150. Bad deal. Plays like a cheap guitar. Alvarez has way better stuff for this price range. Trust me, if your spending 450, spend it on something you'll like, this ain't it. ... show more
