Helmets are a real personal choice and you should really weigh the cost and quality of a helmet to what you think your brain is worth. A highly protective helmet is going to run $400+ but what if you can't justify or afford that much right now? Junk helmets can be had for $30 and may help if you fall in the shower but in a real crash are worthless (in my opinion). And who wears a helmet in the shower anyways? This helmet may be a good compromise for someone on a budget. It doesn't cost very much and it's not junk. I think if you're looking for an OK starter helmet you should consider this Favoto. It is DOT certified, the inner padding OK, it has a foam inner shell, the ABS outer shell doesn't flex too much when squeezed, it has a quick release chin strap (although I recommend double D buckles for better security), it has air vents to reduce (but not eliminate) fogging, and for $50-70 appears to be built very well. It weighs 3 lbs. 9 oz. and includes a flip up clear visor, a smoked visor and an "anti-fog visor insert" (which don't work very well in my experience). The finish is matt black and has open space to accommodate ear speakers and a mic if you wish to install something. The inner bonnet easily snaps in and out for cleaning. When you get the correct size it feels comfortable to wear. I would NOT compare this to my Arai helmet for quality or protection. Do your research while you still have a functioning brain. For 1/10 the money I would say this Favoto is a good starter helmet, but please spend as much as you can afford on a helmet - you are worth it. You're only going to REALLY need your helmet "that one time" and then you're going to wish you had spent a lot more.

The interior padding is thick and removable. Medium size fits snug on my 58cm head, as it should. Comes with both a clear and a dark tinted visor. Vented at the rear, and with easily adjustable vents at chin and on top. The buckle has a convenient quick release RED pull tab. This low cost helmet looks stylish and feels very secure. It is comfortable to wear and has plenty of room to wear glasses. Also includes a drawstring helmet sack. I like it!

I recently purchased the Favoto Full Face Motorcycle Helmet in carbon (medium), looking for a DOT-approved option. For its price, it offers some compelling features. First off, the DOT FMVSS-218 certification provides good peace of mind, and the ABS shell with high-density EPS liner feels robust. It comes with a dual visor system (clear and tinted), which is very convenient for changing light conditions and easy to swap. The included anti-fog film is a nice touch for clearer vision. The quick-release buckle is super efficient for getting it on and off. Very nice, comfortable helmet. Fits true to size and has great padding. The padding is somewhat movable so you can install a helmet Bluetooth/intercom system. The visor works great and is relatively easy to swap for the included tinted visor. The whole helmet isn't terribly heavy and is not hard to hold up. It has a good thickness and feels very solid. The "carbon fiber" pattern is nice and is tough to tell that it isn't real until you get closer. The glossy finish is nice and easy to clean. The chin strap is good, it's very strong and comfortable. I have a full beard (which I tucked into my shirt for the pictures) and it was very easy to buckle and unbuckle. Overall, an excellent sub-$100 helmet.

After putting it on, the fit is just right. The internal padding is thick and soft, and you won't feel pressure on your head or stuffiness even if you wear it for a long time. It is equipped with two lenses, transparent and ink-colored, which can be used during the day and night. It is also easy to replace, and the position is secure and will not loosen. The anti-fog patch works surprisingly well. It will not fog up when it is humid in the morning, and the riding vision is clear. The vents are well designed, with openings on the top of the head and the chin, and you can obviously feel the coolness during long-distance riding. The quick-release buckle design is particularly convenient, and it is very quick to put on and take off the helmet. Although it has an imitation carbon fiber appearance, it has a full texture and no problem with hardness. It looks stylish and is safe to wear.
