I have tended to go with cheap socks in the past, with the idea that I'll just replace them when needed. Now, I think I'm changing my mind on that. I've already bought three pairs of these socks. First, be assured these socks are wool, but merino wool is not itchy. These are soft and comfy from the moment you put them on. Wool does a better job of keeping your feel warm or cool - that is what they refer to as "regulating the temperature". That said, I do tend to use them mostly during cold months because they warm my feet up quickly. I'm lazy so I put them through the wash and sometimes they end up in the dryer too. I think they may have shrunk a little, but not enough to make a difference. Do pay attention to sizing because Falke socks are sized precisely. I bought a larger pair of Falke socks thinking they might fit but had to send those back. It's not like American sizing where one size fits most.

These are very good quality and exceptionally comfy. They are not thick, more like dress sock weight but because of the quality of the wool they are not flimsy like dress socks so they will stand up to wear in boots and for wearing around the house without socks. So beautiful. I wash in the machine but I do hang dry. I have used the dryer in the past and that works too, but they loose some of that smooth fine feeling as the fibers get tight from the dryer. Eventually hope to replace all my cheaper socks with these as they seem to last longer, especially in the heel.

Based on the description, I was expecting the thickness/weight of at least a dress sock; this was not the case. It is extremely thin! I immediately thought of the sock liners I wear under ski socks. If you're unfamiliar with those, then I would say this is closer to a trouser sock; in between nylons and dress socks. I'm not sure how these could be 'lined with mesh' since they are so thin. They fit very snuggly as well; almost restrictive. And they aren't what I would consider calf socks either. They came above ankle but barely up to where the calf begins. The quality appeared good; seams well made. Overall, not a 'bad' sock, if expectations were set correctly by description.

They are great. Smooth and thin. So many wool socks are too bulky to wear with most shoes. I ended up returning though because the navy is so dark it looks black. But not. Plan to get actual black ones.
