The shell is great! Took awhile to come in the mail which kind of sucked but the product was worth the wait. The shell seems durable and was a perfect fit for replacement. It came with all screws needed if you didn’t want to re use the old ones. All in all a great product. Definitely a difficult job though for newbies to the modding world.

so the case itself is pretty light kinda thin but doesn’t feel cheap imo. if you look super close I mean really close you can see how the case is slightly misaligned but honestly for 20 bucks it’s nice. Yes it’s cheap but prepare to sit down for about 2 hours. I saw tons of people recommend to use different screwdrivers than the ones included so I did and overall the outcome is sick. The case looks so good once finished. My ZR button was sticky at first but after time of messing with it it’s now working fine. Watch a YouTube vid, take your time and everything should turn out okay.

To start, if you have never done any sort of repair/replacement work on electronics before this may be a challenging project. It took me about 2.5 hours to complete with me taking pictures of everything I took apart. Also, make sure you buy some thermal paste as well - it will definitely help keep your Switch running cool. I love the smoky transparency of the emerald green (looks more like turquoise). It’s sleek and reminds me of my transparent green N64! The plastic material that it’s made out of feels durable, but will probably crack if you drop your Switch. I decided not to use the ABXY replacement buttons as I liked how the white buttons looked. It’s not a 5/5 because of a couple reasons. The tools that comes with the shell are not great. Do they work? Yes, but they may strip your screws. Lucky enough I have the iFixit toolset from doing other repair jobs. The video that’s provided is also not great. I recommend looking at other videos for support. The last thing is the screen protector. I really wished they included the proper screen protector color as I just didn’t like the look of the gray screen cover. So, I opt out of installing it ( I did just use a regular screen protector). When I was done with the shell swap, I notice the back cover slightly extended beyond the front where there was a small gap on the right side of the Switch. Dirt, dust, sweat, etc could easily get into the internals so I contacted customer support and they sent me a free replacement shell within 2 weeks. The replacement back shell fit perfectly this time. In all, I would recommend this product if you are looking to bring some life back into your Switch Lite. Oh and remember to take your time and disconnect the battery! If it takes you 5 hours then it’s all good. Better than having your Switch Lite not work as some reviews have mentioned.

I bought the eXtremeRate Clear Black replacement shell to give my Nintendo Switch Lite a unique, retro Nintendo look — and to proudly show off the modchip I installed. If you’re a fan of transparent electronics (think late-90s/early-2000s Game Boy Color or Atomic Purple controllers), this shell nails the vibe. Difficulty: High — the product description isn’t exaggerating. This is a full disassembly job. Expect 2 hours if you’re experienced, longer if you’re not. Tools Included: Comes with both Y00 and Phillips screwdrivers, a full set of screws, and even a tempered glass screen protector. Tips: Watch an install video first — I paused and replayed multiple times. Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low to remove the screen; too much heat could damage the digitizer. Keep screws organized — there are many sizes. Tweezers make reassembly easier than fingers. Shell Material: Durable ABS plastic that feels solid once assembled. Transparency: Clear enough to see the internals (and in my case, the modchip) but slightly smoky — not perfectly crystal-clear. Buttons: The colored A/B/X/Y buttons are a great GameCube throwback. Tactile feel is similar to OEM, though slightly stiffer at first. Nostalgic Nintendo aesthetic — the colored buttons against the dark transparent shell pop nicely. Back side perfectly shows off my custom work without looking cheap or gimmicky. Matte finish means fewer fingerprints than glossy shells. Pros Unique, premium look that stands out from stock designs. Solid construction; no creaks or misalignments after reassembly. Includes quality extras like a tempered glass screen protector. Perfect for showcasing internal mods. Final Verdict If you’re comfortable tearing down your Switch Lite and want something unique, the eXtremeRate Clear Black shell delivers both nostalgia and personality. This isn’t a quick cosmetic mod — it’s a project. But the result feels worth the effort. Holes are not pre-threaded so have a steady hand. quality is actually good, chose to use my own buttons and did a hall affect thumb sticks. It came with a screen protector, extra screws, and the X,Y,A,B buttons. You might want to order membrane buttons for the +,-,home, and screen shot buttons(its easy to lose them :/ from your original switch shell.

The provided installation guide misleads you into an improper removal of the battery from its connector. My Switch Lite is RUINED and can only be repaired by advanced solder work because of these improper instructions. The battery connector that is factory soldered onto the motherboard was ripped off while following the technique the video installation guide provided. Gentle force was used in an attempt to replicate what was shown in the video. I am by no means a beginner to this kind of stuff, so I am appalled such a thing could happen following instructions.
